I have been very tempted lately to open and display my set of Ninja Turtles 5 inch figures. I have been looking everywhere to buy another set for myself to open and it seems every store around here is sold out. I really want to open these but so far they are still MIB. Has anyone else here who keeps them MIB been tempted to open theirs?

this is for the old tmnt, but since i got my triceraton that i wanted for 13 years, and have never actually touched him, yes, ive wanted to open him... but i know that im getting another one soon loose, to look at, touch, feel, hug lmao... but i dno i find it harder to keep something mOC thats 13 years old, that youve always wanted, than something not even a year old :)

What helps me is to just keep thinking that you will be getting one to play with and feel soon. Also, what helps a bit (it will sound strange) But just find as many pictures on all their different areas (like their shell, arms, legs, etc.)as you can, and once you see everything about them youll lose your urge to open them... it sounds weird but it works.

Why waste your money on two sets? What are you going to do with MOC figures? Display them in your packaging not do anything with them? Just open them.

It's people like you that I hate.(No offense) You buy two sets of the figures and I can't even complete one set because of people that buy multiple sets and scalpers.

LOL! At least you can get ONE figure. Besides, why does it bother you so much? If he didnt buy 2 sets, someone else would have. People who buy more than one figure don't bother me, just the people that buy them to sell them on eBay for ridiculous prices..

WHOA!!! Hold on one minute. I am not a scalper. It's not my fault that you can't find the rest. I went searching everywhere for this set and actually had the money for it. Maybe I want a second set just because I want one for display and one to put away. You know, it's really nice to know in the future 20 years down the line or something that something you own MOC has increased in value. Not saying I would sell them cause I have no intensions of selling but it would be nice to have a set MOC. Now, I'm not taking offense to what you said but you must understand that not everyone who wants a MOC set is a scalper.

I didn't call you a scalper. I said I hate scalpers who buy everything they find to sell it on Ebay.

I understand now and for that I apoligize. I had to re-read what you said. I just want you to know that I am not a scalper. Just a collector. :)

I know what you mean. When I saw the Giant Turtles I had to have them. I did take them out of the boxes because I enjoy looking at them out of the boxes. I know people who have an out of box set and a MIB set. I just can;t afford to buy another set of them MIB. Especially at 20 bucks each. One set is good enough for me. I really enjoy looking at these out of the boxes.

I have a horrible habit of spending ridiculous amounts on old 'n rare things and succumbing to the temptation of opening them. x_X;

I always open everything (unless it's a double). Otherwise, why have it?

Open them. Toys were made to play with. :twink:

As long as you're careful with them, they'll still look nice. And they'll look better displayed if you can pose them, too!

Collecting and displaying things makes the collector in me a happy soul.

The kid in me loves to play with the toys though. It's to decide which to pay attention to. So I usually do get two of the things I want to open. Which right now, have just been the four turtles themselves.... Nothing else, everything else I'm comfortable with in their boxes.

Plus. when they are on their cards they look so pretty hung up on my walls ^^

I don't buy doubles of 'everything' I collect. Just of the figs I want to open. vehicles and playsets either stay in the box, or they come out. And right now, I can't wait to tear the box holding my future precious sewer playset into teeny tiny little pieces.

As it is.. the toys have been relatively easy to come by.... And if not, they'll be going to at cost or a little cheaper on ebay within a few months. (When all of those ebay scalpers end up with too many to sell for a profit and need to gain some money back and try to break even..) So I don't feel too bad about getting some extra turtles to play with.

i keep every thing i buy in the package mint on card, then i hang them on my wall. Every one has there own thing. I only open ones that have a bad card. Ones that arent in good condition.

See I have the hole first wave of guys and vechiles, but they are opened. I plan on buying the turtles and shredder when they get them back at KB Toys to keep MOC. And eventually like when the second wave comes out the prices on first wave might go down a little at stores and i know KB is always having sales on there toy like 2 for 5 and stuff like that so thats when i will prolly pick up my MOC Turtles and Shredder. But till then i have a great time fiddling with all my figures.

LET'EM BREATHE!!!!!!!

I doubt any of the 2003 TMNT figures will be worth anything in the next year or even 20 years...for the most part the figures are fairly easy to come by...and it isn't as if the 2003 TMNT figures are originals...the 1988 figures were the originals....these won't be worth money in the future...because everybody has the idea these days to keep figures MOC...which makes the demand far less for them...what makes MOC figures so in demand...is because in the past everyone used to open figures, which resulted in those few that were left MOC as rare...and as the true MINT figure...I collect both MOC and loose....but will say that for nostalgia reasons, displaying reasons, and fun factor reasons...opening the figures is a sure bet. Like I said before Let'em Breathe...it's not as if you'd ever sell them 20 years down the road anyway... OPEN OPEN OPEN!!

I buy two sets and quite frankly don't care who is pissed off about it...I buy one set weeks...months maybe even after the first set...never at the same time...which leaves plenty of time for anyone who wants to buy them to do so.

exactly...even the originals from 1988 are bearly worth anything today...MIC. ..and people who purchase the new ones think they'll gonna grow in value to say even 50 or so dollars?..never...toys now days arent as rare......just open the damn things.

EXACTLY! I have all four turtles on my book shelf and I must say they look quite stylish... I'd probably buy another set to have a mint new set to go along with my mint old set (box set actually).

I know this has nothing to do with TMNT, but if you collect Marvel Legends and you have a Wolverine Unmasked chase figure, then chances are you're not gonna open it. Why? It's fetching a price of 350 on ebay easy.
