I'm a mod on their forum. That's not a "perk" by any means, it was a very kind gesture on their behalf. I, like most everyone else, regularly buy all of my TMNT books/variants at a local comic store.

Oh duh totally spaced you were a mod over at IDW, very nice!! I've been trying to track down all of the variants for each issue, a task that is especially difficult for issue #1! Good point, I guess there may be a Shredder or Splinter slipped in there but I think the majority of people would want an individual turtle or group shot of the turtles. :tgrin:

Yeah I know thats what I figured happened but what a d bag seller. That Donnie auction has 6 days to go and its almost up to $50 already. Raph has a pretty solid following, I think that thing woulda gone damn high if he let it run. If he took anything less than $150 for it he's a moron, I think it'd reach that high on its own.

I realize the reason for the price is not because of the sketch but more of what the sketch is on. A comic. Seriously, Kevin does these kind of quality sketches for free at cons. And the art he was selling ''as is'' on KES are much better quality and only $75.:trolleye:

Yep, greedy seller indeed. I get ppl making me offers to make the sale off ebay about 30% of the time but I never take an item down if bidings already started. Its just poor form.

Many of them are probably comic shops. These went from Kevin, to Diamond, to the Shops, to customers. So many of the shops are putting them on ebay instead of making them available to their customers. Which from a monetary perspective, is probably smart.

Totally agree...I would have bailed as well. In some regard though I can't fault sellers for taking the firm money now vs. a possible non-payer later (with maybe more $$ potential). I've had numerous past auctions end with a bidding war and then the winning bidder doesn't pay. I've even had auctions where I've tried 2nd chance offers with the top 3 bidders and never heard back from any of them. It's totally lame...I wish eBay would come up with a better punishment for non-payers...the current system totally benefits the buyers.

I believe these comics would be graded with a Green ''Qualified'' label.

Sam is correct. These would get Green label as they have already left Kevin's hands and gone through the distributor. The only way to get a Yellow Label (signature series) copy would be to have intercepted a copy before it left Kevin and had it sketched in front of a witness and graded. As of this posting I know of a total of 8 copies that have yellow labels: My 4, plus 4 that were witnessed at the 35 days of Kevin Eastman event.

Yes. Except that these books are already signed and sketched when they get into the owners hands. You can't buy blank ones. The only blanks that exist(ed) are in the hands of Kevin Eastman and (maybe) IDW.

I tried that with a pre-signed Turtlemania Gold. I had him hand it to the CGC personally and they wouldnt do it.

With these, he COULD sign them again, but only the witnessed signature would be valid. The original signature and sketch would be considered a flaw; and in this case, a major flaw.

Yeah man, I've got some signed certed books I'd love to get SSed, so I totally get the desire, and understand the frustration.

Unfortunately there is nothing gained by accepting these books. The CGC wouldn't see a large enough monetary gain to risk their reputation like that.

Living in Iowa I'll probably never make it out to SDCC or NYCC. Was going to go to C2E2 in Chicago this year, but with getting married in July and closing on a new house in February I don't think I'm going to have the funds to go and enjoy it like I should. So hopefully next year. So I won't have a whole lot of opportunity to take advantage of Signature Series at cons, which is a bummer. I think of my 200some signed comics probably 75 or so are Dynamic Forces ones with COA's, if they allowed those as SS I would get them all graded :trazz:

Naw. When you collect signature series you learn to be happy with anything above a 9.0, as a lot of damage can be done to the book during signing. On that note, the real surprise was getting the 9.8 on the Leonardo. That makes me super happy :-)

It certainly looks to be Eastman's style of ''ink splatter'' that he does for alot of his artwork.:)

I would think it might transfer though the cover to the interior page before it transferred to the bag, but with all comics proper display/storage and humidity control is gonna be key.

Well, I'd say go with a Mylar sleeve for these. And of course store it properly away from light, humidity, ect.

But sadly, over time the ink from the marker will seep through the rest of the book.

That red one was sure a surprise and a nice one at that. The cover scans will be displayed as part of my collection site when it's finished (and they're on my blog right now too) but I likely won't be displaying them...I don't typically display any of my collection physically as I don't have a great place to do so (i.e., the wife has different interior decorating ideas :ohwell:). I may get them CGC graded some day though.

Pre-orders online for these were right around $50/copy. Without pre-ordering or working a deal with a local shop then they were about $60-100 right around the day of release (but sold out fast).

I personally bought one of mine online right before release for $67 and for my other copies I worked a pre-order deal with a shop.

It happens, that's why now if I see a TMNT item I like and the price is right I don't think twice I just buy it.

Every time I thought about buying a comic or print etc it was already sold by the time I made up my mind.
