IDW TMNT comic bags

I got my week's comics today (a pretty craptacular week in comics, by the way) and they were loaded up in a little green comic book bag with handles and an image of Kevin's first IDW TMNT cover on one side and a closeup of Dan Duncan's Leonardo cover on the other.

Kinda neat, and savvy marketing. Did anyone else's store have these?

Bobby Curnow mentioned these on the IDW Forums (http://forum.idwpublishing.com/viewtopic.php?p=268460&sid=a37f34b57f9c77e4796ad77381ba92c7) a couple of days ago...

" ...We recently sent out a bunch of TMNT plastic carrying bags to comic retailers. (ask your store if they have them, they should be free with purchase)"

My guess would be they only sent to the larger retailers but who knows...they sound cool though.

I doubt my comic book store would qualify as a "larger comic book retailer" but he had them in spades.

Admittedly, going back a month or so he said he'd been selling out of the TMNT stuff so he'd have to up his orders.

With the likelihood of me finding one locally zero, I told my online guy ppl are interested in these. They will be going on the Bey (hopefully for a reasonable price) soon.

I hope mine has them, I saw a pic online and they look pretty sweet! I remember Bobby saying that they sent them out, I'm surprised that they're out already!!

Actually yeah, Action Comics was pretty far-out this week. Everything else, not so much.

Just regular bags at my shop yesterday. They know I have a TMNT sub, so if they had any they'd have saved one for me. Bummer.

The shipment with the Raph mini came with a ******** of them. Knowing I'm a big TMNT fan, they gave me a handful (seeing how thin those bags are, a handful is ALOT) and since then they've been giving them to everyone along with their purchases, I assume until they finally run out.

I kind of hope that just the people that aren't currently reading IDW TMNT are the ones getting the bags... that's the whole purpose to them.

yep, those are the ones. And nope, from what I seen, they're giving them to everyone, regardless of the content of their purchase. But again, they knew me as the Turtle fan (I used to buy Tales from them) before they even knew my name, so they gave me a handful.

It's not really a sign that it's doing well (though it is), it's just a sign that IDW isn't screwing around with the marketing. Good to see.

then there is no way on earth my local shop will ever see them lol i am lucky if they have the latest IDW and the only other TMNT merch they ever have looks like they've been shopping at mysterycolor vintage toys ;) you are lucky dudes, thanks for posting a pic!!

these must be pretty rare? im guessing the average consumer just threw these away if they didnt care for tmnt and for them to only go to the top 100 stores in america they might be worth that?

theres another set i just saw for 9.99 bin

also they handed out the ashcans of tmnt #1 at sdcc and people sell those on ebay too so who knows
