UPDATED - I just added a picture of the second piece from Jim Lawson it is a companion piece to the original Don and Mike piece. He did Raph and Leo without having the original in hand he got it very close to the original did an amazing job as on the first one. I cant speak high enough of his work it speaks for itself. I am very happy with his work the two pieces :)
---
I just thought I'd post a few things from my collection a couple of the playmates statues statues, Xtreme Design FX Leo head and some new Turtle art :)
Many people have probably seen some of these as a couple of the pieces were done by Kevin Eastman and were bought off his website. I really am impressed by the Casey piece, I had to get Casey and Raph from Kevin the art is in my opinion even much more impressive than when you see it online.
The Don and Mikey piece was done by Jim Lawson and was posted on his Facebook about a month or so ago. It was my first commission which I was overly impressed by it really is absolutely fantastic!
I am planning on getting a companion piece with Leonardo and Raphael in the future from Jim. I love the attention to detail Jim does and he used duo shade which was icing on the cake :)

Yeah lots mostly loose figures, almost all the dvd's etc like a lot of people. What I have in the pics currently is all I have on display or out at the moment other than a few other posters from 1988-1990. I was originally going to just post the art in the art thread but thought I'd make my own topic. Perhaps I'll post a few other things when I have the chance.

I love your display. The art and the statues make for a classy look. Don't get me wrong, I love toys but they tend to look a little cluttered. But art and statues always look good. I love that Lawson commission, he always does great work.

I am really proud to own that piece by Jim I cant believe the work he does for commissions such quality work. The Raph he posted on his Facebook the other day is amazing.
I haven't had much in the way of figures out for a while, I just recently put my NECA figures back in their box. I just keep everything boxed up if I want a little nostalgia I'll come here and check out peoples collections or look through a box of the original TMNT figures from the 80's and 90's.
These are not TMNT related they are horror related a Resurrection Glove by Razor Gloves and a Phantom by Razor Gloves. I am not sure if I should say how I got these yet... but they are from Chris at Razorgloves.com. I may post how I got them in the future (they are not stolen btw ;)). The pictures do not do them justice and the bright light is a little harsh on them.

The masks were something I did a couple years ago two for myself and one for my cousin for Halloween mainly for fun. They are Frightstuff blanks.

Very cool, I bought a Furnace Freak off him a couple years ago Halloween 2009 I think. I was happy with that glove but I was able to get a couple gloves from Chris and I love the Resurrection the fit is unbelievable I think he nailed the armature and the blades are awesome. Lots of little screen accurate touches as well.
Chris is great to deal with sometimes it can take a while to get a email response because he's so busy but his work always comes through great really reliable builder :)

Nice Leo head. How did you manage that one? How much does Jim charge for a two character piece? I was thinking about a Shredder/ Rat King team up image.

The leo head was from Xtreme Design FX, its not a movie head but it is very cool none the less really like it.
As for Jim he has a website up now http://jimlawsonart.com/comissions.html his commission rates are on there and you can purchase via his site. Extremely affordable,I almost couldn't believe the quality for cost I am very happy with the work he has done it looks just like a comic page :)

I followed his blog, but unfortunately the sale to Nick made his heart not in the blog anymore. He did a lot of cool commissions and I was not sure if he still did or not since his blog is no longer updated. So if I want a Shredder and Rat King it will be about $125 then. I think I will contact him this Spring once I can splurge a little about the two character picture. Thanks dude and again nice little display!

Just a question, if you know, is that duo-shade paper Jim uses for his commissions to get that ''effect'' on the shadowing? It really is lovely to look at.

Yeah, he made a post somewhat recently on his facebook to the effect of there isn't much left and that Mirage's supply is running low.
Just found the post he made The stuff that I've been doing the black and white commission work on is a paper that is called Graphix Duoshade. It is impregnated with a pattern that becomes activated when you apply 2 chemicals- a light tone and a dark tone (done with a brush). The pisser is, this paper is no longer made, and Mirage's supply is nearly exhausted. Soon, very soon, there will be no more...
Its to bad there they are running out :(

Yep, that's about what I thought. Shame too. I really think that makes his commissions much more epic. It looks like it's right out of the classic comic book. I love his style alone but the shading of Due-shade paper really makes his art pop. I hope he can find more somewhere. There has gotta be places that supply it as leftover stock.

I don't know, Peter Laird bought the last from the company when it went out of business so whatever Mirage has is likely the last he will have access to.

You can't be too sad about it. They stopped making the paper because the developer you use with it causes cancer.

That is really unfortunate, it is the chemical when they apply it that causes cancer?
I'd assume that after the reaction and what not that the piece would be fine and should have any cancer causing properties. I wonder if its the fumes if inhaled that causes lung cancer or what the case is. That is interesting information.
If you know any more information about that I'd be interested in hearing it Archon-Turtle.

I don't really. In fact, I could be totally full of ****. It's just one of those things that I've heard from a score of different illustrators over the years. It could be just one of those things that started as a rumor and seeped its way into the common knowledge base. Though it stands to reason that long term exposure to just about any chemical is going to not be awesome for you.
In any case, I doubt that exposure on the hobbyist level would do anything...But just in case, don't lick it.

Exactly, I have worked in contaminated environments before, having to wear a respirator etc. I think it would be a very low probability that there would be any danger from the piece. I could see if you were using the chemical 8-10 hours a day for 20-30 years it could case some sort of health problems.
All chemicals have proper handling procedures you are very right that almost any chemical is going to not going to be good for someones health depending upon what it is and different exposures...

**imagines Jim drawing and toning with a tyvek body suit, laytex gloves, face shield, and respirator
man, that would be REALLY uncomfortable.
love the addition! yes Jim does do some really amazing work. i particularly like his stuff when he inks/tones himself. i dont care for the pages in vol 4 that eric talbot inked/toned. you would think that they would be a dynamic duo but in some instances that wasnt the case. just look at the Raphael; Bad Moon Rising series. ick! now if jim would've given it his trademark style inking, it would have looked much better. though it didnt help that i didnt care at all for Bill Moulage's story.

I thought I'd post something I got today, I was very lucky and consider myself pretty fortunate to have won a couple items from the Turtles vs Foot contest.
I got an email a week or two ago saying that I won a Donnie prize pack consisting of a new Nick figure and a Don toy from Kevin Eastman's personal collection. It turns out the Kevin Eastman figure is a mint in box 1988 Donatello figure and the back is signed by Kevin.
It is a hard head version but its amazing to see one of these in its packaging since I haven't seen them since I was a kid I cant help but feel really fortunate.
I am sure there are a lot of other fans who would love having a piece from Kevin's collection like this, its just really cool. He's pretty awesome to be letting stuff go for a contest for fans its much appreciated. Big thanks to him and Nickelodeon :)

Thanks, I am very happy with them especially Kevin and Jim's art. My Leonardo mask has a tiny bit of paint coming off the head a little bit but it is hardly noticeable perhaps it needed a little more clear coat or its from the mask stand perhaps the latex stretching a little. Good thing the latex is green in color as well :)
