View Full Version : Shredder's Lair

In the OT, Shredder lived in the Technodrome ("A giant golf ball on wheels" as 2K3 Raph put it in Turtles Forever) and in the 4Kids series he lived in an ostentatious skyscraper, giving Donald Trump a run for his money.

This time around, I might like to see something less grandiose for Shredder, at least outwardly speaking.

As long as its not an abandoned warehouse full of video games, skateboard ramps, and sweaty children I'll be okay with whatever they go with.

I think it'll probably be similar to the 4kids series, with Shredder having this huge mansion/skyscraper with an underground for Foot activity.

Sure, I can totally see Saki in a luxury sofa in front of a huge fireplace. monologuing, don't send thugs to do the work of a ninja, after the turtles last adventure was the last straw.

Bring back the Security Services/Technodrome concept from the very first OT episode; but this time make it a building with perhaps a scout vehicle (mini-Technodrome) for escaping and secondary operations. Then save the destruction/escape of the Foot HQ building for a season finale/end of an arc. Shredder always wants to live where he can be private and have tools to play Big Brother on the world. Or, use a different location for each season: The industrial ghetto in Season 1, a skyscraper in Season 2, a Space Station in Season 3, etc.

Back to Dimension X!

We can dream.

We don't know much of Shredder really to know what type of base he would have. I am thinking some type of building within NYC and have a bunker underground kinda like we saw in "Turtle Tracks". I have a feeling it would not be as a tall of a building as we saw in the 2003 cartoon or as designed in prestiege.

Maybe a redesign challenge in the near future should be Shredder's base?

I say let Shredder be a Lex Luthor type of character again with his corporate headquarters as a cover for Foot operations. Oroku Saki, billionaire industrialist by day, the Shredder by night.

Put Shredder on Wall St. as Chairman of Foot Holdings, a hedge fund.

(If he were an investment banker collecting government bailouts, that would make him extra evil!)

I recall the 1987 Manhattan Security Services with some secretary girl at the entrance, nothing seemed to happen with her. Maybe the 2003 Foot skyscraper is based on that.

The people behind the show haven't said anything about it so it's highly unlikely.

I wouldn't mind some sort of roving Technodrome again. I also wouldn't mind a warehouse or some huge business building. Heck, combine them together! Big building on the surface with an awesome sci-fi sub-basement!

You know, I actually liked that version of Shredder and the foot. Picking up youngsters from the street and bending them to his will. We know he will Allie with the Kraang eventually so I wouldnt mind if he started out like movie 1 Shredder.

As long as there is a place for us kids to smoke cigars and play poker, I'm happy with wherever the Shredder decides to call home ;)

Maybe this time he will have a large boat/yaht, docked for easy access to the city, but always ready for a smooth getaway.

If Shredder works with Krang, Technodrome. Otherwise, not.

Actually, I think he and his henchmen could use some big boat travelling across the waters of the Earth. (usually anchored outside New York City, but sometimes going to Japan). Maybe sounds to pirate-inspired, but of course he would mostly operate on land.

TurtleMaster4

I think he should operate in an abandoned warehouse, but it should be a big one but one that don't draw too much attention. like an underground one in the first Live action movie, i loved that place. If he would operate in a big building, with the foot clan sigh on it, he would probably be arrested in a couple of days. and the Technodrome, i always thought of that as Krangs house not Shredders. Though I would love to see the Technodrome in the new series too.

Wait, I thought it was Emperor Shredder. Why not King Shredder? Heh.

A new Technodrome or an updated design would be nice, unless they take from the Forever CGI models. (Personally speaking, I found both of them to be eyesores.) But, if they do, they do. Failing that, do what they did with Archie Shredder -- give him a non-mobile sub-underground base.

After being used to 2003 Shredder's variety of regular or normal styled bases for modern storytelling purposes (buildings, boats), I'm not sure if I'm quite ready for another Base On Wheels. If the design is impressive, like I found the OT Technodrome, I think I could be quite convinced otherwise.

This is a toughie... I haven't given it any though until now.

We can be sure he won't start out with a Technodrome, but I guess it could happen later on.

The Skyscraper was possible because he was 1000 year old crime lord with money comin out of his ears in the 4kids show, I don't think we'll see that here.

The old abandoned warehouse is so cliche...

I honestly don't have a clue where Shredder will hang his hat. Can't wait for the first episode though, that's for sure.

No, but depending on their relationship or interaction, the season or future seasons could take a protracted subplot with building a Technodrome. Then, cue the season finale or premiere and -- bam -- instant drama and action. As much as I enjoyed the Technodrome rolling around in OT Season 1, I always found it odd not that no one in New York prior to the series debut apparently noticed. Earthquakes are rare in the Northeast, but they do definitely happen (as recently witnessed in D.C.).
