I've been to the Angoulême (France) Comic Convention this weekend, and that book is already out over there, with a different cover and published by Soleil.

Maybe there will be a variant cover for the TPB? Wouldn't be surprised... Possibly an Eastman cover and a Duncan cover.

Eastman cover for #3.

Also, looks like the logo's embossed. Pretty cool.

Eastman cover for #3.

Ahh ok, I was pretty sure it was one of his earlier variants, didn't feel like checking. That's a little lame, no?
Everything else got a fresh cover. Oh well, I'll still pick this up. The book should be a much better read in a lengthier format like this.

I agree, some new art would have been welcome...oh well. Still cool.

hey okulus, did you meet stan sakai in angouleme?

It's been a pretty busy convention for me, and I haven't really had time for signings. I did see him, and there was quite a long queue of people in front of him, wich doesn't happen too often with non french authors.

I met him once in Granada (Spain) in 2006 and he's incredibly nice.

Sorry for going off-topic.

yes, he's known to be the nicest man in comics(now that jack kirby isn't umong us in physic any longer)...great to hear that his visit was successfull then;)...hey he was asked to do a one shot or something similar for the idw turtles as well and agreed to do it, remember?there we are, back in topic again;)....sorry, folks..

Looks good. It's a little much to expect a brand new cover for something like a TPB. It's the norm in the industry to just pull a cover that's been used before and slap it on a TPB. And at least it Eastman's art.:)

Sakai?
Last I heard he didn't want any part of the new turtles and that he only did in the past as a a favor, at the request of his good friend Peter Laird.

Someone over at the IDW boards even said he's so busy with other projects that Usagi Yojimbo is going on a short hiatus.

No doubt, I think Usagi has been bi-monthly for a little while now as it is...

here is the truth about it...
usagi is indeed on a short hiatus after issue 144, but so far is released in it's usual releasing schedule...remember usagi isn't a monthly ongoing as the turtles, but comes out about 10 times a year..(regarding from this perspective I am pretty happy about turtles comming out so often)
stan is working on a yet secret project in I think graphic novel form featuring a special numbers of ronin(okay I cannot confirm the number, because the post about it has been erased from the uy dojo/I am too confused to find it at the moment) and he is also doing a tales of the mouse guards story for david peterson's mouse guard universe...
that's why bobby said stan is very busy right now..it was also him(this time I double checked the info;)..)who doubted that stan is really interested to work for idw's turtles..but way back before the turtles even saw their first idw issue stan told us at the dojo(uy fansite) that he was asked and that he agreed to do something...here are his own words, compadres:

IDW just announced that they will be publishing new TMNT stories, starting this summer. They had approached me about doing something for this new series, and I won't be doing anything on a regular basis but I did agree to maybe a one-shot or something else very finite.

so, that's as far as anything has been said about it, here ya go;)

Thanks Marcel! It's great to know that Stan will be lending his talents to IDW's TMNT in some capacity. :D

Yeah that is good to hear, I can't wait to see more from our longtime favorites like Stan (& of course the Mirage gang).

Nabbed my copy of this today at work. The story flows quite well in this form with the only interuptions coming in the form of small "chapter" bubbles. The cover does indeed feature Eastman art and embossed logo. The last eight pages feature some awesome full page art from several artists including Kevin Eastman, Dan Duncan and Fred Hembeck. A great book overall.

I took a peek at it yesterday. It looks like a nice book to own if you don't already have the individual issues.

I'm glad they didn't add some super exclusive content, since it would make me feel ripped off as a faithful customer of the monthly issues.

Seems like no Dromers picked this up... guess it's because we're not a bunch of trade-waiters lol.

I'm going to the comic shop later today, I'll flip through it and make the call there. I probably won't get it, seeing as I give IDW a lot of business as it is.

This is a really nice book and truly was written for the trade. The few edits they make is taking out the "to be continued..." and replacing them with "chapters." As we all expected, the story flows much better when read together and it's nice to see all the artwork from the different variants in the book as extras.

Maybe someday, but I have all the issues already, and without any super-exciting content, I can save my $ to buy diapers. ;)

Regarding Stan: I certainly hope we see him involved at some point-and I hope he brings Usagi along!!! It's tradition; and I really want to see Usagi in the Nick toon as well. :)

Tho i am buying issues with nearly all variant covers, i was going to be buying the TPBs as well for the bookshelf, but was delaying cause of the obvious reasons. ( already own the issues and need to get some other comics )

But i saw this at Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Vol/dp/1613772335/ref=sr_1_2_title_1_har?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1330020239&sr=1-2

It seems it is being printed as Deluxe Edition HC as well in addition to TPB.
I guess i will wait and buy this one.

It costs more yeah, but it is more meaningful i guess to buy something you already own, in this form.

And also this one ( and the forthcoming other HCs ) will look better near the IDW Classic TMNT Ultimate HCs i guess.
