View Full Version : Will the TCRI building exist in the IDW series?

In the IDW universe the mutagen came from Krang/Stocktronics instead of the Utroms and the TCRI building.
So the Turtles aren't wondering about their origin of mutation in this series, because they know they are from the Stocktronics lab. In the other series the mutagen would come from the Utroms and the TCRI.
Will the TCRI building even exist this time around? Is there any reason for Utroms to be on Earth in this series with Krang around?

Short answer: No.
From a traditional TMNT standpoint, the ooze has always come from the Utrom.
However, you never know what Tom has up his sleeves... we could see them after all.

If it had existed in the Fred Wolf cartoon there'd be a lot better odds. As it is, no, not likely.

I don't think it will. I was hoping for utroms, but we've got plenty of intergalactic stuff going on already, so I'm not too sure anymore. I mean, I don't want utroms for the sake of utroms, and considering how things seem to be, it doesn't look like they'd be any special.

We might have gotten our first look at an IDW Utrom in the preview pages of TMNT #7, actually.

Stockman states that the basic elements of the mutagen were provided by Krang and were very difficult for him to obtain. This leaves a little bit of mystery as to exactly why they're so hard to come by. Perhaps Krang stole them from Utroms? I think it's definitely still possible.

You mean Krang?

Krang seems to be making a lot of enemies in this series, I wouldn't be surprised if there are Utroms on Earth and he's searching for them as well. Very similar to the way in the 4kids series Shredder was searching for the Utroms.

You mean Krang?
Yup. An Utrom on-the-run... why not?

I wouldn't count IDW out on Utroms just yet. You never know. They could be saving it for the third arc or something.

Oh yeah, it could be. I dunno, I guess IDW Utroms could just be one of many intergalactic species.

So you mean the same thing as Ch'rell? The lines between him and Krang are being dangerously blurred, aside from the fact that Krang won't take over the identity of Shredder.
I'd love to see Utroms in IDW. Whether they're in the TCRI Building or not doesn't particularly matter to me. I think it'd be wild if Krang had stolen technology from the Utroms (I'm not against Krang being an Utrom, actually-it's an easier pill to swallow than that of a disembodied brain-though both ideas rock).
Besides, as others intoned, we're fresh in the series-there's plenty of time for all that good stuff. I'm hoping for not only Utroms, but also Slash, Metalhead, Mondo Gecko, Foot Soldier robots, Baxter-Fly, the Cowlick, Triceratons, Fugitoid, and...(I cannot express this enough!):Mikey eating a cannoli.

This is what I'm thinking too. I hope Krang's a deformed utrom, so the regular utroms still look like they always have. Alien brain is awesome too though.

Or Krang could be a mutant himself. Perhaps he was an Utrom who experimented with gene splicing?

Utroms/Krang species, and any such TCRI building would more likely exist in Dimension X (or another dimension perhaps) the way this story is going, and we have a better chance of Dimension X since Krang is in it than TCRI the way things are going so far. Or, Krang could just be a product of Stocktronics.
