Hello
So I just saw that Kevin will be at the Boston Comic-Con this year. I am new to collecting comics (I just bought/read/destroyed them as a kid). I have a few questions about the workings of a con. I am going solely for Eastman and after will probably just browse the cool stuff the dealers have and leave.
First of all, how do signings work? Do they cost anything? I have 2 books I have signed by Peter that I would love to get signed my Kevin. Is 2 items asking too much? Also...I see some people getting sketches done (like the ones on the 1:50 retailer variant)...how does that work???
Thanks so much!
Any help/tips are greatly appreciated!!!

Just wait in line. Kevin is a really cool, down to earth dude. He will for sure sign your items for you. He usually does a free sketch inside the front cover of a book if you buy it from him. But just be polite about it and I'm sure you won't walk away disapointed.

Does he charge per signature? Anyone know if he will be at comic con this year? Sorry for highjacking your thread but I think the questions are related :ohwell:

No, he does not.
Cool. So anyone no the answer to the second question. I might be planning a trip to the con this year but my decision is based around his attendance.

He seems to keep his website very up-to-date.
Here are the cons he will be attending as of right now

Kevin is a free signer. However that isn't the case with all creators. Stan Lee for instance, will not sign books without a hefty fee. Kevin does also sketch for free, which is a blessing and a curse on the people standing in line. Yes, everyone in line (until they cut it off) will get their free sketch and signature, but this means that your line will take forever. So I suggest going directly to his booth first thing in the morning and find out when he is going to be signing (if he isnt already) and make sure you are there like 15 minutes before so you can start the line.
Also, while he does draw on sketch covers if you provide them, the 1:50's came pre-sketched.

Might have to go to Boston...since Kevin obviously hates NYCC... :P
It's sweet because he will be here in Austin next week for the independent comicon, Staple! I offered to volunteer a fee hours and get a free 2 day pass! What to have him sign?

I went to Detroit Fan Fair from Chicago this last year to meet him and get some stuff signed. You definitely want to get in line as fast as you can. I waited maybe 45 min in line and I was the 10th person in line. He signed like 10 of my books and sketched an awesome Donnie on the IDW #1 fan fair blank exclusive. The line was full all day till the end of the event which still had a long line even after close.
I have been checking his website already but no word on any Chicago appearances. Does anyone know if he will be coming to Chicago for anything? C2E2 or Wizard World?

When I got both of my Eastman sketches done at SDCC, I tried to wait for the queues to be somewhat short, but even though there were only 3-4 people in front of me, I was still waiting a good half an hour or so. Still, allows you to chat to fellow Turtles fans, and to observe any random happenings going on, like the one guy that came up and showed Kevin a couple of very early original pages he had. Giving you a chance to coo over them also heh.

The Donatello one is mine and the Raphael one is my buddies. They both were graded as 9.8. The cool thing about my buddies sketch is that he had Kevin sketch a photo of a statue he custom made. The real thing isn't painted yet but that's what it will look like when he does. He used Photoshop to paint it for a competition. You can check it out in full detail here. FYI he made a bad ass Link statue too.

I like the look of this, more old school than his other recent sketches. Even the giant legs have an early feel to them; I partially wonder if he's adopting some cues (like disproportionately large legs/hands) from the NickMNT, though.

It was kind of funny, he said that he wanted to do an "old school" one for me (maybe it's because I gave him a ride Friday), but he kept referencing #1 3rd print he had with him to get the style right. He kept saying how he didn't think he could pull it off!
I don't know if kevin could draw a turtle from the new show. He didn't sound like he didn't have any artwork for it, just helped with ideas.

I too have never been to a comic con and my sole reason for going is to meet Kevin and get my blank covers sketched. Ive even offered to buy the tickets for two friends to help me get these sketched so I'm not a single person asking for more than 1.
