Wow, thanks for sharing! I love that RI Cover, do you know who drew it? These synopses confirm a few things like Splinter getting kidnapped in #8. Looks like that will last for a few issues. I wonder who the surprising new ally is... ZOG?! That would be awesome, but I somehow doubt it.
Plus, that Splinter micro looks veryyy interesting. I wonder what that shocking revelation is going to be. That the turtles are not his reincarnated sons?! ;)

Man, Raphael looks like he's got the vampire plague on the #11 cover!
And the Splinter cover is definitely WIN; can't wait to see the variant!
But...
including his secret life as Hamato Yoshi.
What the heck???

Where is Donny? Suprising new ally I will have to say Apolex(?).

Well, there was this little ominous note from the last issue...
"One thing is for certain, not everyone is going to make it out of issue #8 safely!"

I do like the cover art. Its almost Lee's Batmanesque.
It seems as though Splinter will be captured around the conclusion to this arc and remain captured through #12.Also,Casey helps the TMNT as Shredder appears. I can seesome reminders of the first movie. Wonder if a turtle gets injured during the fray with the Foot?

Well... the "surprising new ally" could also be April, right? :tlol:
Or Alopex...
Or even...

Ok so the list would be
Casey
April
Apolex
Chet (Im going really far out, providing he is secretly a utrom)

+1 for the April suggestion, but I think of her as a Oracle type ally or damsel not really ally in the field of battle as the description seems to imply. Casey Jones just seem like the obivious one being referenced. Apolex I got the idea was a bad egg but you never know where her alligence will be in the end let's just hope not be Raph's girlfriend.

Tom showed a preview page of #8 that shows don and splinter hurt, perhaps this ties in even though its a few issues ahead
I am indeed loving the covers, can't wait to see more!

"Surprising new ally" makes me think it's not the usual suspects of April or Casey. It could be a villain seen thus far in the series, hence making it unexpected. Old Hob and Baxter definitely don't have their allegiances spelled out completely, so either of them seem good possibilities. Personally my money is on Baxter since his agenda with the turtles isn't personal like Old Hob's. Or maybe it's Krang?!

My guess is Leatherhead. Although a rushed intro for him wouldn't do him justice.

Wowzers! That Splinter cover is top notch and the E&L's #2 coloring looks extra spiffy on that cover.

That RI should be one of my favourite IDW covers to date. I'm not too fond on the colors for E&L #2 tho, but it might be because I'm just so used to the old one.

I'm psyched for July. That Splinter micro is gonna be great, I can't wait to see what questions are answered.
And I knew Mr. Mouseguard was gonna kill the cover for Splinter. I always go with the artist who did interiors, but I'm making an exception for this one.
My guess is Leatherhead. Although a rushed intro for him wouldn't do him justice.
The term was "unexpected ally", not "out of no where ally".
My guess is they make some sort of deal with Old Hob, perhaps promising him a blood sample of Splinter's in return for his help.
Love the covers! Thanks for posting! Maybe Donnie is still hurt and can't storm the Foot lair? But that doesn't make much sense, cause Leo is there and Leo's definitely getting owned in his micro.
I wouldn't read too much into the RI covers, they're normally done a good bit in advance. The artists for those may not even have access to the script.

I didn't think they would but you never know. The general public and casual fan know the turtles by their colors. Even IDW is doing the color thing after the bait and switch. So I was a little scared when they said they would be coloring the original stuff we would get colored there also.

If you want all the easter eggs David Petersen put into the cover, in his words:
On the top shelf: A box with the Fugitoid stenciled on to the box's label, a broken Mouser head, a stop sign & an urn.
Next shelf: Chinese takeout calendar (with my favorite Ferndale, MI Chinese place's name on it: "Wing's Garden"). Statue of Liberty figurine on a book with a turtle shell emblem & the IDW logo, A hardcover copy of the Black Axe (Bobby sez: an awesome Mouse Guard book, read it!), A boyscout handbook, & Another Turtles book.
Last visible shelf: a box of Ohio Blue Tip matches, a fondue pot, & the broken Ooze canister.
Other note: The 4 patches on Splinter's robe represent the bandanna colors .

It's that hard to save up $3.99 a month?
Lets see...
This month alone has 3 issues: both Infestation issues and the on-going. Some people buy all the covers. Each issues lately has 3 covers. So...3x3x3.99=35.91 before tax. it's not much, but when you have no disposable income, it can be a burden.
Also, you broke it!!

I'm working between 11-20 hours a week at work right now and have an apartment to pay for, power, gas, water, garbage, and other necessities. So yes, the more turtle books that come out the harder it is to come up with money for them. I'm just lucky I have an awesome roommate who isn't a douche bag when it comes to covering things and knowing I can't just spend all my money of bills.
So yeah trying to find a second job is a top priority right now.

Yeah I believe I fall in that category, thank you. This week I got a total of 15 hours. Last week I worked 12, and next week I have 10. Like I said I have an awesome roommate.
But back on topic. Does anyone else get the feeling that we are going to get another mutant allie for the guys in issue 11? I'd guess it is either Alopex or we shall see the guys find some other mutant in the Shredders stronghold they free.

I think they said there won't be new mutants poping out of the woodwork every few issues. I doubt this series will be bogged down with mutants.
Cowabunga Carl
03-18-2012, 10:20 AM
The last time we saw another mutant was in Raph's issue so it's been a few issues. Besides it seems like Tom likes to pull from the OT and it was notorious for new mutants. Where was it stated there wouldn't be new mutants, or old mutants re-imagined?

I forgot to post this, but I asked Erik
Without giving away any plot details, what's the tone going to be like?
Not to insult your versatility, but I'm used to your blend of humor/action/drama. But with a character like Splinter, he's hardly known for his humor. What are you and Wilson III going for, overall?
And he said
Well, yeah, given the circumstances the type of light banter and pop humor that abounds in Ghostbusters is mostly off-limits in Splinter.
It'll be a touch... darker? That seems right. Not bleak, but not as much in the way of jokes or humor.
Though there ARE a couple of funny bits.
It's probably not what folks would have come to expect from me, but I think the story serves the character. I hope the fans agree! I look forward to discussing the hook that I used to figure Splinter out.

Tell you the truth, wouldn't mind that. I can't wait to see how this reincarnation thing pans out...there's so much potential there for some really cool supernatural plots.
