What will the new TMNT look like?

Obviously, they won't look exactly like they did in the previous films. How do you think their look will change for new movie? Personally, I'd be very pleased if we ended up with something like this (with a mask of course)

Yeah I'm pretty flexible when it comes to the new look of the turtles. I've seen so many renditions and I just love that the turtles are still getting attention. :tgrin:

First of all, to bring them to life, I would have to say motion-capture all the way. After seeing Planet of the Apes, I can’t really imagine men in suits, no matter how advanced the suits may be. In terms of design, I would definitely go for a more streamlined look, less bulky and more lean. No beaks or tails, either. I know some people have been calling for tails for a while, but I just don't think they're needed, and I also think they can make the design seem more complicated than it needs to be.

I actually really like the top image. Basically, something like that, but not as "human". I presume that's just fan art?

I hate the OP art. God forbid. I'd like something hyper realistic, honestly. At least in the design of the turtles themselves. Pointy beaks, bumpy skin. I could go in many directions, preference wise, but I think that'd be the coolest. Kinda like that school project turtle head that was floating around the web for a while. Or Zulli turtles, even. As long as their eyes properly convey emotion (like in the first film) I'll be a happy camper.

Honestly I am hoping they lean towards the look of the first film but I know that won't happen. It would sure be nastalgic to see familiar faces back on the big screen especially if they brought back all the original voices. Wishful Thinking :-)

I think Planet of the Apes has been mentioned so I think the creation of the turtles will be similar. As far as how they look, I have an open mind. Don't really have expectations. I think they might go for a gritty / dark feel? It actually would be kind of relevant to make it into a parody of the Batman movies now and Watchmen and so on. After all, the comics were a parody of similar 90s comics those movies are based on.

1st film look all the way, in my opinion. Take that general look and make it look "realistic" in texture/movement...that would be a slam dunk. Not a huge fan of the first pic here - way too skinny, nose is weird, and too many pieces in the plastron.

This article is quite old, so people may have seen it before. This is from May 2011 and is supposedly from someone who saw some designs from the new film:

We recently received a tip from a credible source about concept art from the movie.

Our source says that the turtles were far more realistic and had hard-packed abs in the front rather than the bottom side of the turtle shell. They were also far more skinnier than we have seen in the past. One of the big noticeable differences in the turtles was that one of the them was holding a gun. The gun didn’t look like any specific model but it was a little futuristic, and the turtle even had a Bandolier wrapped around him.

I have seen this also, I said awhile that with the turtles having an origin on another planet in this movie, we could see the Triceratons and Honeycutt at last. That means the futuristic gun could be of alien origin. But that's just me, and that this is a joke most likely.

I feel the exact opposite. Nothing about this "concept art" makes sense to me. I'm hoping they stick with the basics regarding story and looks....I don't need to see Turtles and/in space. Give me an updated, gritty re-boot ala Batman Begins and I will be a happy camper.

This is great! The only thing I'd really change about it is make the belt more like the classic Leo belt and ditch the blue ties on his arm and leg. But other than that, I hope they go in a direction similar to this.

I they gave the oots designs a movie overhaul, I'd be pleased.

The designs have a nice flair of semi-realism still keeping it a bit cartoony. The faces look turtle-like but still have the ability to emulate feelings. And they are based off on the Nick cartoon designs, the current TMNT generation.

I would probably like to see something kinda like the first movie but at the same time a little more realistic and with more texture and such and maybe go towards something along the lines of Dave Rapoza's artwork. Right now I am actually really looking forward to seeing how the motion capture turtles will look and I do hope they will make som nice looking incarnations of our green heroes.

I would like to see some of the concept art for this movie. Hopefully we will be getting something in the future.

I'd be ok if this is how they look. It seems to be close to the original movie versions anyway, only with more CGI.
