I find that, sooner or later, everyone does something embarrassing or dumb to impress the opposite sex.

For example, I have a dentist appointment tomorrow with a young, beautiful, super-intelligent doctor. Thus, I've been brushing, flossing, and using mouth wash five times a day.

I'm sure that'll make her pop the question as she's scraping plaque off my molars.

Hindsight being 20/20, what's the most embarrassing, pointless, or dumb thing YOU'VE done to get someone to notice you?

Pretended to abandon my very strong political beliefs for the sake of an emotionally abusive and manipulative high school boyfriend.

I also stopped talking to one of the most important people in my life because it made said boyfriend uncomfortable.

Long story short: boys stink and I did stupid things for them in high school.

I think the silliest thing I've done for love is let a guy who was way less intelligent than I am think that he was the smartest guy I'd ever met. That relationship lasted all of three months before I got fed up. he still called me for months after I broke up with him because he "had never felt so good with a woman before". Poor guy. He's married to a brow beating harpy now.

I know two gay furries who do have a long-distance relationship (on opposite coasts) and have never personally met, yet one is absolutely deeply in love with the other. It's been that way for years, though I'm unsure how it will work out. (In speaking with "the other", I have found him both genial and intelligent. He spends a lot of time with schoolwork.)

BTW, speaking of Twilight, the first guy went to see the movie-to laugh at it, a la Mystery Science Theater 3000. The rest of the (mostly teenage girl) audience didn't appreciate that.

The farthest apart I've been is a couple of states. Close enought that if the booty call is a necessity you can get there in less than a day......but far enough apart that seeing each other daily....weekly.....monthly even, is impractical.

My LDR's were because of school and jobs. One ended in break up, one did not. Trust and communication. If you need constant reassurance and attention they aren't for you. The best part is that you're always happy and excited to see that person (for me anyway).

When my fiance and I started dating (7 years ago...good lord) it was the furthest someone I was dating lived from me, about 40 minutes or so. Because she was only 16 she had a lot of things that kept us apart during the week, the biggest of which was her super unsupportive parents, but we spent nearly every weekend together and the first summer we were dating we spent a full month at her house (her parents were on vacation).

After she got out of high school she got accepted at the University of Ottawa, so she moved much further away, so that it was several hours of driving and at that point in our relationship it was really hard not to see each other daily, but I ended up following her after about a month. I went out there for a long time and after a year we both decided it sucked and she transferred back into the GTA. We spent a year living with my parents then got our own place, which was the best thing that ever happened to our relationship.

I actually think the distance is something that made our relationship way stronger in the beginning. It definitely made the "puppy love" era of it last way longer than it usually does and I think that gave us the right amount of time to become completely infatuated with each other. It allowed us to get to the point where we were so attached that whatever annoying personal habits that always end up cropping up 6 months to a year into a relationship were easy to ignore, which I feel (from experience,) is something that can very quickly destroy a good relationship.

I did get tired of cupcakes pretty quickly because I was taking home the ****ups every day because I felt too bad throwing them out. I ate them almost as meal replacements because I'm a broke ass loser. They're still damn delicious but I can't really finish an entire one without feeling sick. I only eat them occasionally now, but they're awesome for making new friends. Everybody loves you if you bring cupcakes, even if you're a dick.

They are definitely not good for the whole diabetes thing, especially when I was eating them in copious amounts. But I've been taking it easy lately so I don't die an early death. Also I get free breakfast pretty often at my job that isn't so damn sweet so I just eat that instead.

I'm not making this **** up. I learned this in a very conservative high school in the middle of ****ing nowhere, Pennsylvania. Every transgender person I have EVER spoken to feels this way about this issue. Words hurt people. Words can end people's lives. Personaly I think asian men and women are gorgeous, and even though some asians guys have a reputation of being "quite" I have found most of them very respectful, there was one Japanese guy for Osaka at my school that I really came to like, but I could not get him to notice me, I signed up to be his english speaking partner just to get close to him. I guess that is the dumb thing I did for love. This was a disaster because I think there are just too many negative stereotypes involving black women for someone from a culture as xenophobic as Japan to get around. Or really American women in general I'm coming to realize. When ever I corrected him on his english (which as his english speaking partner I'm supposed to do), no matter how gently he always got this panicked look and when I asked what was wrong, he said nothing. My girlfriend is Chinese, and she's mad nerdy. She is also incredibly socially awkward. But not really in a bad way, more in a cute way.

I actually think that is very sweet. Good for you, I hope you guys stay together. I think that is what attracted me to some of the asian guys at my school. They all seemed so nice and genuian, with none of that "i'm a tough guy" kind of posturing. The ones I interacted with I found very endearing.

I also find asian guys very attractive, I've never dated one though, but I would love too. Actually I almost never go for white guys and when I do I like them with dark features. I've never been into guys with blond or light hair.

I can't really think of anything dumb I've done for love though. Except maybe when it gets to that point where one is putting more into the relationship than the other. That was the case with me in my last relationship. There was point where, unless I called him we wouldn't talk. Or if I didn't seek him out I wouldn't see him at all, and I was the only one suggesting plans. After awhile I got fed up with doing all the work and I stopped it all together. Real Chinese food is seafood, vegetables and pork/duck for a meat. I'm not a fan of seafood or vegetables, so it's difficult for me to go to Chinatown with her family. Luckily they own a fake Chinese food restaurant so they bring stuff home to cook for me. I got really lucky to have her parents not be judgmental about my eating habits, despite China being so damn crazy about their food.

Something very stupid I've. Done for... well...I don't know what the F*** it was. I went thru this completely self destructive phase. I Broke up with my Fiance and dated a con man. Its hard for me, even now, to really speak about all the stupid crap that happened during that time. It ruined me financially and damn near put my life in shambles. It was like a mid life crisis in my early 20s. I even put the safety of my animals at risk. How stupid I was!

Later I find out the dude was "cheating" and he stole a bunch of my crap and left. I later found out that the next girl he was with he abused...tried to kill her pets and broker spine putting her in the hospital. What a douche!
