General Tragg is a character who slips under the radar for me. I don't know about the rest of fandom. I was surprised to see him pop up in IDW as the result of Baxter Stockman's most successdul experiment yet. I thought since Krang is the general he would be Brigider Tragg opposed to Captain Tragg. Anyway, Tragg was shown to be a threat especially with the untold numbers of rock soliders( or is it stone warriors?) under him. Krang could have overan New York City and took control of Earth by raiding the U.N. building if it could have been done and that would be that . That is more than I could say about the foot soliders. He was only shown so often beacuase he was capable and the script had to call for him instead of just overrunnig New York City with his troops like Krang logically should have. Opinions on Tragg in the '87 cartoon, three video game appearances or so, and the IDW comic and direction that may be taken with him? Thanks for the input and contribution.

I really like General Traag. His Season 6 episode, "Rock around the block" is one of my favorites.

It seems like David Wise wanted Krang to have an army of some kind, and they didn't want Krang to be the leader of the Utroms or Triceratons so the Rock Soldiers were created.

I also have fond childhood memories of his boss battle in TMNT 2 and his toy.

Tragg is awesome! Totally underrated villain. His first appearance in the OT was great

That is why I said "three or so" because I could not remember. :twink:

I wondered how he may be portrayed if used again. It seems it is pretty much the same role albeit different title. The only question is will he do more than silently bully Stockman or have a larger role.

I thought General Tragg had two missed opportunities or perhaps appearances. He should have been in Night of The Rogues and Turtle Trek. Both episodes I think he would have worked well.

The official Ninja Turtles site says he was in Turtle Trek. I'm kind of surprised he didn't appear in more video games. He never appeared in any of the games where the Stone Warriors were regular enemies.

He was there in "Trek," but for a few seconds in a confab with Shredder and Krang. He had more of a speaking role in "Wrath of the Rat King," before that.

In reviewing the series again, Traag is far more appealing to me, as he came across as somewhat more competent or more threatening than Bebop/Rocksteady during the series' heyday. Either way, it's a shame he was so underused. A personal favorite scene was in "Hot Rodding," where Mike used his nunchucks against Traag, it failed and then Traag pimp-slapped him. Heh.

By the way, I do recall his being cited in an early Full House episode, where DJ was babysitting. And her young charge called her "General Traag." Good times. (A portion of the episode is on YouTube, but not the "calling her Traag" part. Rats.) A nice reference, considering how obscure he would later become.

At least, the Manhattan Project and Turtles in Time used his character design for the Stone Warriors. So, he still appeared in the later games in a sense. Same could be said in Season 2, as his design was still used, albeit colored gray. Take what you can get.

I like that the Traag figure looks very little like his animated counterpart. I suppose that would make for a boring looking figurine, though. :ohwell:

I believed Wrath of The Rat King was his final apperance when he sent the Shockwave to Krang after talking with him on the communicator about the Technodrome being stuck in a black hole. I swear I have never seen Tragg in "Turtle Trek". It must be just for a few seconds in the entire episode that he is seen like you say.

Tragg is someone I have overlooked as well. I was curious if I was the only one. I admit he is not on my list of favorites but he is not a bad character. I wondered if he could be separted from Krang or incorpated again and as soon as the thought crossed by mind he was brought down in rank for an obivious reason but did show up even his one-shot #2 Lt. Grantior. I would rather just have Tragg but no hate.

Yes, it was a reference to Lord Krang sending General Tragg to defeat him( the charge,Brian I think?). I am a big Full House fan as well. I grew up with it and its one of maybe three shows I never stopped watching at some point. There was another reference in the episode Jesse and Becky get married where Michelle's male friend, Howie wants to beat her up because he decided he was Raphael and she was The Shredder. :trazz: Wonder if there were any other refenreces on T.V. shows during Turtle-Mania('88-'94).

It seems it was decided that the rock soliders would make for good harder opponents during the level to mix in with th countless foot soliders and work better that way so Tragg was no longer a boss. Granitor was a boss too and I admit while Tragg would be a good mini-boss Granitor does not scream " video game boss" to me.

Where's the love for Granitor?

I felt Tragg was always underused too. I guess there were plenty of rock soldiers in TMNT 4, but it would have been cool for Tragg and Granitor to have been mid-level bosses in one of the future levels, like they were in TMNT 2

I just love the whole concept of Krang's Rock Warrior army. I really don't know why. It just works.

I am glad to see IDW use them, even if they're humans in that version rather than aliens...or whatever the hell the Rock Soldiers were in the old toon.

Rocksoldiers were mutated rocks with mutagen, how exactly that works out who knows but it's stated and literally shown in one episode in the OT.

I like the idea of the rock soldiers but they are kind of irrelevant in the show since they almost never showed besides in a few scenes, when they were shown as threats they were pretty awesome though. Didn't care much for Tragg or Granitor though, their credibility also hurt after seeing these warlords of Dimension X had to fight and couldn't defeat the likes of the Neutrinos.

Rocks from some strange Dimension X planet, not Earth. (the episode you mention is "Michaelangelo's birthday")

It may have been, although that toy line is known for being far from accurate but at the same time somehow perfect. If that even makes sense. When I was a kid I didn't even know it was supposed to be General Tragg...too bad he didn't get a toon release. Instead we got "Vomit Skirt Irma!"

Napoleon is one of the few far from the cartoon design and far less appealing. Slash looks more like Archie and is more appealing. So I guess some were better and others worse.

Going back to General Tragg,I did like his design. It was only really the face that was lighter.
