I'm not sure if Leonardo's dialogue in the last few pages were intended as a joke, but they came off very silly to me. Would Leo really be doing/saying that? Weird.

Also...they are swords, Leo. Stabby-stabby.

BrianLynch

Well, this Leo is still somewhat new to doing things, and it's an early attempt at interrogating. So he's somewhat awkward with it, he's still learning.

As for the stabby stabby comment, this is only the beginning of the fight, but even still we had to be somewhat conservative with that. That said, I think we took it prettty far on this one.

Agreed! The turtles shouldn't just go and start killing their enemies left and right.

By the way good job Brian, really good issue.

Brian, I should say that I have enjoyed the micro-series so far, and am definitely anticipating this issue.

You have highlighted my fear, however. I have no doubt that you can tell a great story, judging by previous issues, but I can imagine how certain restrictions could damper the effect you guys are going for.

I'm sure there is still plenty for me to see! Looking forward to it.

Agreed! The turtles shouldn't just go and start killing their enemies left and right.

I believe they should. At least when being attacked by a swarm of ninja's. I'm sure Splinter is keen to teach them a sense of honor, but when their life is on the line, why play around?

We've seen Raph express desire to kill Hob twice, but Splinter told the turtles no one must die, and Leo's stood by that the entire series. He's probobly still trying to follow his father's order.

Hasn't Yoshi himself killed when his life was on the line?

Either way, the dudes are about to stab him. I just have a hard time buying that he wouldn't kill to save his own life. Not saying that won't eventually happen in the issue.

True, but somehow I don't think Shen or Splinter/Yoshi would expect or wish them not to kill if it meant their survival.

I don't mean to be a stickler about it, I just think it is worth discussing.

I have to agree. Now, we haven't seen the full issue yet so we don't know exactly what happens. But if Leo was getting attacked by that many foot ninja I gotta think he would have to atleast take SOME of them out. Will they show it? Not sure.

Right, right. I really hope Nickelodeon lets them have the turtles kill. They let Yoshi get away with some brutal stuff in #5.

If Leo doesn't stab any Foot I suggest IDW remind Nick that this isn't a kids comic.

It seems pretty clear IDW and Nick are going for an "all-ages" approach that perhaps skews more towards teens. It definitely would be bummer if the turtles were never allowed to kill, but I don't think it would be irredeemable. That being said, I would be perfectly content if they are generally allowed to go as far as #5 already has. No need for excessive blood and gore, but I think a comic with minor swear words can handle the idea of at least "off-screen" deaths.

CyberCubed
04-17-2012, 12:58 PM
This isn't a kids comic. As said there's already been deaths, some cursing, and a little blood.

Leo and Raph should use their weapons on the Foot. There is no excuse. Nobody is asking for a gorefest but just stabs and slices here and there ala Mirage is expected.

Samhain
04-17-2012, 01:01 PM
Yeah, death can be done in a tasteful manner. Mirage did it well. I don't need nor do I want to see guts and gore everywhere.

CyberCubed
04-17-2012, 01:04 PM
Yeah if this issue has a lack of Leo slicing and dicing I'll just accept it, its the first Foot fight after all.

But I really hope in future issues against the Foot or other human enemies that Leo and Raph won't be hesitant to use their blades.

Leo no stabby and Raph no pointy is disappointing. :ohwell:

hi!I love this issue already...looking forward to be reading it soon.as for the killing thing here...I think it shows leonardos good fighting intents...as he is surounded by scores of ninja and more comming from every angle at him, it would be foolish to let his sword dive into the flesh of them, as it takes time and effort to pull his katana out of their rippcages/bodies...so in such dense circumstances I think it makes only sense...truly the foot already comes off as skilled or experienced ninja(leo mentiones they don't make a sound as he strikes them), so I doubt they would be struck by shock if leonardo WOULD demonstrate he does not shy away from fatale wounds...hey-I think a wakizashi(short sword) would come in handy for leo here...;)

the scenery, the imagery, the memories and his missino look and read very promising to me, so I am delighted and excited for this issue!here's hoping you can do many more, bryan(david;)..)!!all these first micros have told very different and interesting tales....

Ross is the best TMNT artist, hands down. I like his art better than E & L's even. Can't wait for this issue, thanks for the preview!

I'm not sure if Leonardo's dialogue in the last few pages were intended as a joke, but they came off very silly to me. Would Leo really be doing/saying that? Weird.

I unfortunately have to agree that Leo's dialogue came off as jokey in a time when he's thinking such serious thoughts. He was thinking some deep stuff, ya know, his mother and past family, thinking about how to get Splinter back, and then he's kind of awkward about actually confronting the foot. Seems weird to me.

Honestly though, it's really not a big deal, at all - it just stood out in the preview.

Brian, thanks for popping by and clarifying things! :D Love your work!

This is something I am VERY passionate about. It also contributes to how interested I am in this series. The Ninja Turtles are NOT killers! It was not neccessary with human Foot in the movies and 2003 cartoon. Its like Batman when he started out killing Hugo Stange's monster men and a couple of others. It is what sets them apart of the villains.Bad guys kill but good guys for the most part don't.Some like Punisher and Wolverine do because its in their nature and are more anti-hero types.I like seeing them in the great company of Batman,Spider-man,and Superman as heroes above killing. If Raphael did and learned NEVER to again and have a storyline related to it then I get that but otherwise its something that is in the distant past that the turtles evolved past. This is sjupposed to reach more readers with the teen label andas far as the putting various inspirations together aside from the reincarnation angle I am VERY pleased with Tom and gang's handling.Art is something that is usually second to the story I n my opinion but its a great mix of color and gives a mood that the team is trying to achieve.

Of all four of the "Micro Series", my favorite artwork was most definitely in Raphael's book by Franco Urru. I like straight-forward, clean looking artwork over stylized/sloppy style (Michelangelo definitely had the worst artwork by far). I particularly don't like how Leonardo's bandana is so wide between/above his eyes without that slight slope that they normally have. Also his hands/feet look awkward in a few panels and appear too small. Am I nitpicking? Probably, but the artwork is everything to me in a comic (as I've stated many times before as to why I can no longer stand to read Marvel's X-Men title anymore and why I was about to give up on IDW's main Godzilla title since the artwork by Victor Santos was atrocious....but I know the new artist they got will be far better when they relaunch that book). Anyway I won't know how good the Leo story is until I read the actual issue. But from what I have seen of the artwork, I am not a big fan and would place this as my 3rd favorite artwork behind Raphael's and Donatello's (true, Donatello's was cartoony, especially his eyes but the art style wasn't "fuzzy" and was very clean looking). Nonetheless, at least Leo's bandana is blue (the cover it almost looked red). So I'll pick it up when I get to the shop.

If a bunch of Ninja are coming at you with swords and knifes, and you're also armed with blades, you're not just going to block their attacks and kick them, you're going to use your blades back.

Nobody is saying Leonardo should hunt down and slaughter every Foot soldier, but as he's fighting you'd expect him to attack back and slice them along the way.

Nobody is asking for limbs to go flying, just to see contact and slash marks along the way. Mirage did it perfectly and that's the level of violence in fight scenes most enjoy.

Your 'vision' of what the turtles should be is not what most people want. Most of us have grown up and would like the turtles to ya know, actually use their weapons instead of just punching someone WHILE they are holding said weapon. It just doesn't make any sense. Quite living in the past, the FW turtles are not the definitive turtles. To you, they might as well be called Hero turtles. Because ninja that don't kill arn't really ninja.

I think you're confused. That's not who the turtles are. The original, Mirage comics are the definitive Tmnt and they killed. It was NOT an over the top, gore fest, but they killed. They are NINJA turtles. Ninja kill. The 80's toon is great, but it's was geared towards kids. Don't forget, the first time the turtles fought the foot soldiers in the 80's toon, Leonardo slashed right into a foot soldier, only to be surprised it was a robot. Do you know what that means? Leo didn't know it was a robot, meaning he was going for the KILL.

They are not ninja asassins but their own kind.

I can't believe your serious! The Mirage comics are not the definitve version. The '87 cartoon is the best and most popular therefore it is the definitive version! The idea of a ninja has evolved over the years and so have the Ninja Turtles only in the black and white comics have they have and should ever killed. I don't like myTMNT bloody nor kiddie but a good mix of it all!I have a certain view as do you so let us leave it at that.

It was not neccessary with human Foot in the movies and 2003 cartoon.

The Turtles actually killed a bit in the 2003 show. Mainly Triceratons, but if you pay attention there were some moments were it could be interpreted that the Turtles killed some Foot Ninja (i.e. Raph in the elevator to the warehouse in "Scion of The Shredder").

I like seeing them in the great company of Batman,Spider-man,and Superman as heroes above killing. If Raphael did and learned NEVER to again and have a storyline related to it then I get that but otherwise its something that is in the distant past that the turtles evolved past.

The Turtles aren't heroes. Those 3 you listed are all civilians in costume that go out looking for crime to fight, cooperating with the police and government (to varying extents). If Superman killed Lex Luthor, he'd be shunned. The Turtles are shunned from the get-go because they're mutant freaks just trying to survive in the world. And sometimes survival means taking a life.

I can't believe your serious! The Mirage comics are not the definitve version. The '87 cartoon is the best and most popular therefore it is the definitive version!

It's no one's place to say which version is the definitive version. That's a matter of opinion.

MikeandRaph87
04-17-2012, 06:18 PM
I will give you that,TTN.We all have certain ones we see that way and yeah it all is opinion.
In some respects Mirage is (it started it off the launching pad to greatness) while the '87 cartoon reached it beyond a xomic book and brought in a few other aspects. And still oter versions brought us other things.
I 2nd this.

While fans can be very passionate this is yet another one we can be on.However in this case its unamiously in favor!Ross for the win!

The difference is the cartoons couldn't show the Turtles stabbing humans because they were aimed at kids and aired on Saturday mornings. There are broadcast standards.

The IDW comics are aimed at teens and young adults, and have ALREADY featured deaths, some cursing, and some slight blood here and there.

Leonardo and Raphael should definitely be allowed to use their weapons on human opponents. If not its just silly, and makes you wonder why Nick is forcing IDW to tone down the violence. As I said, perhaps Tom Waltz/Eastman or whomever should remind Nick that the kids watching their cartoon in the Fall won't necessarily be picking up the comics.

For what it's worth, killing, and the morality of killing, is going to be a topic we will be exploring in a big way, starting pretty soon and going well into year 2. All sides of the argument will be well represented.

Year 1 is largely establishing our Turtle family. Year 2 will largely explore what needs to be done to protect that family.

I personally think Leo and the other Turtles would kill in the heat of Battle or in self-defense, but NEVER should kill in cold blood. I never want to see the non-mirage turtles order shredder to commit suicide after they defeated him like the mirage ones did. I don't care how 'mature' and sophisticated' people think those turtles are, to me there is nothing heroic about some of the things the mirage turtles did.

Again, the turtles are not heroes.

Depends on which version you're talking about. I love these books IDW is doing, but I'm out if they become cold-blooded executioners. It's why I don't care for Mirage one bit.

Again, I have no problem with then cutting and stabbing and killing foes in the heat of battle, and EXTREME circumstances.

Andrew NDB
04-17-2012, 08:35 PM
A bit of the hyperbole kool-aid this afternoon, to be sure.

There's simply no good defense of why the Ninja Turtles should willingly tie their own hands in battle outside the confines of a children's cartoon or PG-rated movie. None. And it really isn't any more complex an issue than that.

Panda_Kahn_fan
04-17-2012, 08:42 PM
I said I don't mind them killing in battle. telling Shredder to commit Sepakku is not in Battle :/

I don't feel that I'm being over-dramatic or drinking the hyperbole kool-aid at all. I just don't like the Mirage Turtles, they're too dark for my tastes. The Perfect level of light and dark for me was the first film, but everybody had their own opinion, and this isn't the thread to discuss it anyway.

Anyway, looking forward to picking this book up tomorrow the art looks amazing!

Andrew NDB

I said I don't mind them killing in battle. Having Shredder commit Sepakku is not in Battle :/

Now you're just making up things. They offered him the chance to commit Seppuku (an honorable Japanese tradition with samurai and otherwise and it's a bit prejudicial of you to pass judgment on another culture's ways in this manner, whether you agree with it or not) and he turned them down. Which was actually pretty charitable of the Turtles... they could have just killed him in battle and be done with it all but they paused the fight and allowed him the chance to redeem his own honor in the ways and traditions of his culture. And then he went for the Thermite Grenade.

No Seppuku happened in the issue.

I don't feel that I'm being over-dramatic or drinking the hyperbole kool-aid at all.

Then you have some examples of the Mirage Turtles being flat-out "cold-blooded killers" to back up your statement?

I just finished reading the Don micro. It was eh...I guess a major issue I've had with this entire series is the constant "Hey look remember this? Yeah so do we because we're fans too! We swear! Hey did we mention Kevin Eastman is working with us? Here's 3 new variant covers to prove it!" If you're gonna reboot the entire series, with one of the most convoluted and retarded origin revamps aside from making them aliens, than why the constant call backs to past material. They only stand to remind me I once had something better.

Alright maybe I'm being a bit mean but the panel in the Don book where they shoved in as many references to as many aspects of the franchise as possible was a bit ridiculous to me. Duz_Machines_84 doesn't make any sense in the context of the story. He clearly wasn't born that year, nothing important to him happened that year. It's also mixing two separate franchises. It would have made more sense if it was 87, or better yet had no year at all. The Kirby thing was trying so hard to be clever but it came off as bad fan service. Actually a fair bit of this book so far has felt like someone writing their own fan fiction.

At least story wise. Sometimes the writer nails the dialogue or the dynamic between the turtles but it doesn't happen very often. Also haven't been a fan of most of the artists. Like the Infestation books. Great writing from Tristan Jones but the art was eh. How about some art that matches the covers? That would be something. Reminds me of Bad Moon Rising where they got Ross Campbell to do kick ass covers that the interior art didn't hold a candle to.

Speaking of he is doing this Leo book so foot in mouth I guess. It's really sad when a new turtles book came out I used to be so excited I couldn't wait to read it. Now they sit in my bin for a month before I buy them and collect dust on my shelf for another one before I read them. I shouldn't dread reading something I love. I guess I could stop but as a panel in Marvel Zombies 5 that hit very close to home said "If I don't keep following them how will I know when they stop sucking?"

I wish Ross could do a monthly TMNT book. Guys, we may have to look into cloning.

Anyways, who thinks we NEED Ross Campbell back for another issue? I do! He draws a mean looking turtle!

Yes, yes, and YES. Ross is the definitive Turtles artist for me. It would be great if Ross took over a few issues to give Dan a break. Or maybe if Ross was given a mini-series or something.

I just want more Ross!

Bobby, will we see more of Ross? Pretty please?!

*Sigh* I know they offered to let him commit honorable suicide, but they would have killed him anyway if he had refused, even though he had been beaten. Remember, they were sent to kill him out of revenge. The story almost makes it feel like that's what Splinter raised them to do- avenge Yoshi- even though we know from later stories that's not the case, they are his family and he cares for them. When Donny knocked shredder off the roof when he had the bomb, that was self defense. But the fact they had hunted him down just to kill him left a bad taste in my mouth. Especially considering the chain of events that followed and all the deaths that spun out of that one act of revenge (Shredders return, City at war, etc.) even if the turtles did not intend that.

Cold-blooded killers was a bit strong, but I have seen times all throughout the comics where they killed where they didn't have to. They seek revenge, they kill in anger, even if the foe was helpless or could have been made to never hurt anyone else again. I didn't care for that particular shade of grey. To me, anyone who kills in revenge is a cold-blooded killer, but that's personal morality based on personal beliefs and ethics and has no bearing here. I apologize for bringing it up in the first place. I realize others don't see the turtles actions that way.

Look, Mirage Turtles are fine for what they are- a grim and gritty black and white comic for audiences that like that sort of thing. But I don't want to read about those Turtles, but I respect those that do. Just because I like slightly slightly more heroic, not so 'gritty' turtles doesn't mean others can't like that stuff.

Anyway, I'm DONE with this.

An interesting thing I could see being explored is how Raphael fits into this.
He wasn't trained in ninjitsu as long as the other three, and as we saw in issue 6, he's definately not afraid to jump into the fray to do the right thing.

The way he acts, he wants to use his strength and skills as a force of good, which is great with how he goes on night runs with Casey.

In a way, that kinda makes Raphael the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtle of this series!

But at the same time, he's expressed several times that he'd love to kill Old Hob, so that may throw a kink into the way I'm seeing things, heh.

*Sigh* I know they offered to let him commit honorable suicide, but they would have killed him anyway if he had refused, even though he had been beaten.

More than likely he'd just have bled out from being impaled a few panels before the Seppuku offer by Leonardo.

Remember, they were sent to kill him out of revenge.

But it's not like they sat on top of a building with a sniper rifle -- they challenged him to a duel, they called him out. He came, they fought, he lost, he died. It was honorable combat... not that Ninjas should even worry about honorable combat.

The story almost makes it feel like that's what Splinter raised them to do- avenge Yoshi- even though we know from later stories that's not the case, they are his family and he cares for them.

There is absolutely no reason why it cannot be both.

They're good people, and they're highly skilled Ninja, so yes from time to time they're going to be heroic and save people, cities, etc.

However, they aren't heroes by definition. They won't get a key to the city from the Mayor like Superman would, they won't walk into a bank to stop a robbery like Spider-Man would. Most of their conflicts stem from a life-long feud with the Foot Clan, and the peripheral ones tend to be random freaks who attack them.

I'm so done with this though. I'm right, you're wrong, the Leo issue's out today, let's talk about that instead.

My 2 Cents. You don't have to have public recognition of your deeds to be a hero. True heroes require no such thing. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't ever ignore people being victimized.

With a that being said, the term "hero" isn't rigidly defined so it's really a matter of perspective.

i remember that. i have all the BMR issues (the only issues i collected from that period). i was so stoked for the issues just by the cover art, but once i read them i thought they were pretty lame. for me the story was the downfall of the BMR books. the art was also pretty lack-luster, which i thought was odd considering lawson and talbot were the duo for them. just look at what they did together in Tales 70 (RTNY 1.5) that was awesome! jim's work is very stylized, some love it, some dont (i personally dig his style). i think in those issues though it was the inking/toning that wasnt up to par. it didnt have the normal talbot feel to it. i feel that if jim would have inked/toned it himself it would have been pretty damn cool. again though, it was the weak story that killed the buzz for me.

it would be foolish to let his sword dive into the flesh of them, as it takes time and effort to pull his katana out of their rippcages/bodies...

I know, but it seems that people are expecting something like that...also, something comes to mind here:in lone wolf and cup in the back it says that the katana had also a different japanese name..one that translates to torso-cutter or something similar in english(it s the german version..) basically demonstrating that such a weapon could cut the torso of a human being in half with one blow...I was thinking of that when I wrote that...

Hmm... I was a little let down by this one. I've read through it twice, but so far it's my least favorite of the Micros. Although I suppose that could change. It took me months to fully enjoy Mikey's issue for some reason.

I loved Ross's art, but the fight choreography left plenty to be desired. Leo did do some cool ninja stuff though, like hanging off those pipes.

I loved Jay's coloring in Infestation 2, but if felt kinda flat here. To me, at least. I think it looked insanely good on some panels, like that first close up, then the one where he's crying, then once he takes on the mystery ninja (Shredder, I suppose) in the rain, as well as the very last panel. But overall it didn't feel like his A game.

The story as a whole read a little too quickly (I've got to quit reading the God damned on-line previews) and I don't really like how the solicitation blurb called it an "essential issue" when I'm sure it will be adequately summed up in the first two pages of next weeks issue. The fact that we saw Leo's flashbacks becoming more powerful was cool, and "Shredder's" ominous dialogue has left me even more excited for #9 (Leo's last line was great, too), but I would have liked to see Leo either actually get some answers, or really get beaten with in an inch of his life.

My expectations were definitely set too high, since Eastman and Laird's Leo Micro is probably my favorite comic of all time. I'm sure I'll appreciate it more once the on-going progresses a little further and answers my burning questions.

EDIT: This issue made IGN's Comics Run for this week: http://www.ign.com/videos/2012/04/16/the-comics-run-april-16-2012

Hm. I happen to love the direction the IDW's TMNT is taking (and will take), but maybe I'm a bit biased. Oh, and thanks for reading Duke Nukem -- that was a lot of fun to write. They aren't in half shells and, outside the warm, loving womb of that cartoon spinoff, they aren't heroes. And shouldn't be.

I actually agree. If anything, I see them as anti-heroes who may have to do heroic things at times whenever the situation dictates, but they don't actively seek heroic endeavors/adventures. Ultimately, a true hero, in my mind, works on a selfless level, whereas our TMNT are caught up in a very personal and selfish reality/conflict. They are desperately trying to survive in this new life, and it's family first all the way down the line (and I include Casey and April in that family).

Yeah, its similar to how Peter Laird describes them. If the Turtles actually see someone get mugged on the street, they'd go and help the person. But they don't go actively patrolling the neighborhood like Batman or Spiderman would.

Case in point, I don't think the Mirage Turtles have ever truly gone after trouble. The trouble has always come to them.

It's so good to FINALLY see a full Turtles comic drawn by Ross. I just love the look of the TMNT; he's almost like an A.C. Farley for a new generation. More cartoonish, of course, but the proportions do look decidedly "turtle-ish."

Also, I thought the color was fantastic in this issue. For a dark and gritty urban battle, Leo still pops off the page in comparison to his surroundings. Seeing all the turtles together at the end looked really good too. Kudos to Jay Foots.

Too bad I missed out on Ross' variant cover. I went to the LCS early to try and better my odds of getting one. Oh well... David Petersen's still excellent work will have to suffice again.

Just read the issue. Not my favorite issue by any means, but it was different, and different is always good.

I wasn't a fan of Leo's dialogue either, as has been discussed a lot in this thread. Before reading it, I didn't understand what people could be complaining about, but yeah, it just seems weird.

And the entire what, half of the issue, where he's fighting? Again, I just couldn't understand what people were complaining about, but the whole fight sequence felt 'off'. It's almost like no one was fighting anyone, but just standing there.

It's just my opinion though. I'm by no means a comic genius, or master of everything comic related. There are others here that can dissect the issue FAR better than I.

On another note, is it weird for a comic shop to NOT get the issues of a comic released that day? I mean, I went in today for my Walking Dead #96 and Leo Micro (I only have TWD and TMNT reserved every month), and they didn't even GET the TMNT issue. Said they were supposed to get it next week.

Why have a hold on issues if I can't get them? If it's abnormal, or happens again, I'll just cancel my TMNT issues and get TWD from now on. If it's not something that generally happens, then I may have to go back to eBay or drive further away to another shop.

I'd hate to, but they didn't even realize that it was released today. I had to convince them. And trust me, it's no fun trying to convince a comic shop owner that I'm supposed to have an issue of a comic in my hands, and want to know why it's not.

Here's my review of TMNT Microseries #4: Leonardo at TMNT Entity. (http://tmntentity.blogspot.com/2012/04/tmnt-microseries-4-leonardo.html)

I love Campbell's art and I dug what Lynch was doing with the flashbacks; a great way to show what the reincarnation angle brings to the table in terms of emotional weight. And the fight with "scar-face" was pretty great, as it made him out to be way beyond the Turtles and I think we all know who he's going to turn out to be.

Now, what I DIDN'T care for was how easily Leo punked all those Foot Soldiers. This was their first appearance, after all, and introducing them as cardboard targets to be knocked over with ease only serves to diminish their threat as villains. I'm fine with the Foot turning into fodder once the Turtles improve their skills later down the line, but as jokes right off the bat? Not doing them any favors.

All in all, though, I think this was a good continuation of the story and I'm REALLY looking forward to TMNT #10, now.

Other than the fact that some of the fighting seemed stiff, I disagree. Leo had trouble and was trying to get away, and the foot ninja's got some good shots and even took him down. Of course once he went into rage mode he started owning them which is fine cuz that's what he does.
The "interrogation" was silly, but it's understandable, he didn't know any better. Foolish, but understandable. Besides at the end they were just leading hime to scar-face, where he thoroughly got his ass beat.
I liked the art and the fact that at the end of it you knew Leo just faced about 4 dozen Foot ninjas.

i read it now! I noticed that it was similar to the 2K3 episode Shredder Strikes back part 1 where Leonardo fought against the Foot alone . It even had an element from Shredder Strikes part 1 where a mysterious character helps Leonardo(and we learn later that he is one of the guardians). A very good issue but it would have been even better if Shedder had made an apperance!

Shredder Strikes Back part 1 was based off the original Mirage Leonardo Micro.

Can't wait for the splinter one shot. I wonder who is going to be doing the art for that one? Anyone know/seen covers?

C.P. Wilson III is. Here's his Turtles:

God damn IGN didn't review this :(

I'm totally confused, because it made their "Comics Run" list on Tuesday.

He does. You must have missed my post a couple of months ago regarding the covers for the next set of four in the micro series. The April one will not be in solicitations though because I don't think David finished it that far in advance for Diamond to include it.

All in all, though, I think this was a good continuation of the story and I'm REALLY looking forward to TMNT #10, now.

Just don't forget to read #9 first, Spengs!

I figured as much. I mean, why would they let him do just the Turtles? I hope Shredder gets one, because I'd LOVE to see his Shredder on a cover. I'm sure it's awesome.

Because the original Mirage Micro-Series, in which the current Micro-Series took inspiration from, only included the 4 turtles. The plan to expand it to other important characters beyond the turtles was decided upon after the first 4 already went into production. Petersen himself said that he thought Leonardo was to be his last cover as far as he knew until he got word that they are going to be doing more and asked him to continue his fantastic work!

Here's my review of TMNT Microseries #4: Leonardo at TMNT Entity. (http://tmntentity.blogspot.com/2012/04/tmnt-microseries-4-leonardo.html)

I disagree. I felt the foot soldiers were really overwhelming Leo as I was reading. It felt like they were actually smothering him. I thought they beat him up pretty good before it was all over.

One of my favourite IDW issues so far. :)
Leo kicked bvtt! Love Ross Campbell's style although it really clashes with the design of most of the other turtles artwork out there. They are so tiny it almost makes them look like chibi versions of their selves. ;D

Glad you like him. Not sure if you saw the The Ross Campbell appreciation thread (IDW, WE WANT HIM BACK!) (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=37260)? You might also like the Ross Campbell plans his own FAN COMIC thread (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=37813).

Right, right. I really hope Nickelodeon lets them have the turtles kill. They let Yoshi get away with some brutal stuff in #5.

Oof. You hate to see it.
