Im trying to look it up on Barnes & Noble and Amazon to see it, but can't find it. It's supposed to come out in July, but I wonder why there is no cover art yet. July isn't that far away, does anyone have any info on this?

Did the Adventures 'Future Tense' trade ever come out?? I recently brought Tales #58 (cause I heard the Mutanimals were in it!... one panel! :( but it was still nice to see them!) And at the back of the book it was advertised.
* There was also an advert for the Forever War mini, which I was excited to see! But I know that one never came out.

Future Tense came out in 2009, but went out of print relatively quickly.

Well, that was kind of a long time ago. The Future Tense trade was released, though it was black n white and actually skipped a page (an error consistent across all copies).
But that was way back when Mirage still owned the Turtles.
IDW hasn't made any announcements about reprinting Future Tense and instead are about to release the series chronologically in trade format.

As much as I loved to support Mirage publishing, their TPBs never outclassed the original single issues. I don't even think they included "frontispieces" and back-up stories on any of their anthology volumes.

It really bugs me that we're only getting a measly 4 issues for $20. I wish the page count was closer to the Classic G.I. Joe books from IDW.
I'll be waiting for when I can get the TMNTA collections at a discount.

:tconfuse: That is a huge price! Even Marvel's over inflated trade prices arn't that expensive! How can they justify that amount?? And those 4 issues arn't really worth owning (IMO). $5 an issue! Are we sure nothing else is being included?? Any extra content??
They should of included the 3 issue mini and they first 4 issues of the ongoing, That way all the cartoon reprints are out of the way.
$2.86 an issue is more like it! :twink:

I wonder if they're going to slot the Mutanimal issues inbetween the main volumes, since the story arcs directly intertwine and you'll be lost if you don't read both.
Yeah IDW seems to always make trades at 4-5 comics a trade for content on all their other series. Anywhere from $18-$20/trade for their books. Pretty steep for trades. Yeah they should make the TMNTA trades bigger like the Marvel Transformers/GI Joe trades they print. TMNTA will be way too many trades to cover the whole run instead of the bigger volumes. Maybe I may not be buying these after all unless they do bigger books. :-?

One thing to know about IDW is that they are the KINGS of double/triple/quadruple dipping in their trades, and over a short period of time, too.
For their original Transformers comics, they released everything in trades containg 4-6 issue chunks.
Then they released hardcovers collecting the volumes in publication order, basically packaging the scrawnier volumes in larger omnibuses.
THEN they released new hardcovers collecting the volumes in [i]chronological[/quote] order so you could read the storylines coherently without having to find a reading order online then flipping back and forth between trades.
The old Marvel stuff they originally released in floppies with new covers.
Then they started releasing them in trades, but skipping issues that guest starred Spider-Man or Circuit Breaker and also publishing them out of story order (they saved the Headmasters mini for the last volume).
They they started releasing the Marvel UK stories in floppies.
Then they started releasing them in trades, but skipping issues that had Deaths Head in them.
They they collected all THOSE trades in a Marvel UK Transformers omnibus.
THEN they started rereleasing the Marvel stuff in trades with new colors and no skipped issues.
THEN they started rereleasing the Marvel UK stuff in trades with no skipped issues.
So rest assured, that even though RIGHT NOW we're getting the crappy overpriced trades with little content in them... a few years down the line, IDW will release proper trades with more content at a better price.
Then a few years after THAT they'll release even BETTER versions.
That's just how they roll, guys.

Well they're already sorta double-dipping the Volume 1 stuff now, since the color classics are the same issues in the Ultimate collection, just in color.
So far their collections are well done, and I like how the other Vol. 1 stuff is being released quickly.

Heh, you ain't kidding!
I just noticed they are going to sell a Ghostbusters Omnibus V.1 collecting "Displaced Aggression," "The Other Side," and "Haunted Holidays," all of which already received their own TPB collections.

I don't have a problem with IDW whoring out the Mirage comics. Those are a good thing to whore out. Let's get them in people's hands.

I have several reprintings of issue one now, including the old color TPB from the 80's, and I still want to see what the new color classics issue looks like.

Yes, there is a listing out there saying the first TPB collects issues 1-4 for $20.
I agree. The "Heroes in a Half Shell" mini-series is a personal favorite, and I think it was a fun adaptation (it's where my signature came from, and I always found that panel better than April slipping through the drain with no effort).
However, those first four regular issues are kind of forgettable for me, and for $20 I think they could add the Man Ray issue and the couple of issues after that.
I somehow get the feeling that volume 2 will be a reissue of the Tundra trade. That included TMNTA #5-9 with the added premise of Splinter recounting these adventures for an interview by April. The beginning of said premise was in Archie's TMNTA Classics Digest #1 as well.

I think that would be neat, as those interview pages are something that's a little more "rare" than just the content of the single issues.

I'd love to see the bookending segments from the Tundra trade reprinted, too, as I don't own that volume and have never read them.
So that'd be some incentive for me to buy the thing, at least.

So, Heroes in a Helf-Shell TPB has a new coloring from 2009, right? Does it mean that next volumes would be recolored too?

Hey, I finally got a copy of the Tundra trade! (http://tmntentity.blogspot.com/2012/05/tmnt-adventures-vol-1-prologue-and.html)
It's a surprisingly hefty trade for only 5 issues and a 10-page bookend. The recolors are hit or miss, but they at least make the Lawson issues look better, which is a plus.
I suppose if IDW absolutely MUST do things the skimpy way, they could do worse than to straight reissue this collection.

Ya know, I can't help but wonder if there was a reason that Epilogue to the Tundra TPB has never been reprinted...

Maybe I'm the only person who imagines low lighting and slow music playing in that sewer lair. It must be the odd emphasis on the seemingly inconsequential words: "tea," "please," "ideal," "questions," and "time."

I always figured it was just a case of switching sources. Or else they decided it would seem awkward after the second chapter (issue) of Classics Digest #2.

The only thing that comes to my mind is substandard dialouge written by someone who doesn't know how people actually talk.

Yeah, that's the likely explanation.
The Classics Digests only collected 3-issue installments, so it wouldn't have worked to reference issues #8 and the "Final Conflict" arc in the first volume like Splinter and April do.
I've just always found that exchange funny, and I think the particular panel layout is kind of weird in the selection I posted.

Oh. Yes.
Somebody should mesh together those panel scans into a motion video with the music playing. It could be hilarious.
