View Full Version : Why are people surprised by Aliens being in the Turtle movie?

Krang is an alien and they combined him and Shredder together for the 2003 series that I thought was fine. Their are alien dinosaurs called Triceratons, robots, multidimensional rabbits, and other animals. So what is so surprising about that the Turtles have an alien connection. The mutagen that transformed the turtles was also sopposedly made from waste that the Utroms had made and brought to Earth and the canister went missing or fell out the truck that swerve to miss the blind man crossing the street and fell in with the turtles that the boy dropped into the sewer. Mutagenic slime or aliens. It's a movie about crime fighting pizza benging turtles. Thow rational thinking out the widow and enjoy the wise cracking and ninja action.

People don't want the Turtles themselves to be aliens. I thought that was obvious.

It's throwing something that has been a constant in all versions of the franchise out of the window.
Not to mention something that changes the concept drastically.
I could care less if aliens appear in the film or not. But something I do NOT want is for the turtles to be aliens themselves.

Everyone knows the turtles are Muppets, not aliens! >=(

It wasn't that there would be aliens in the movie, or that the turtles would have an alien connection via the ooze. What got us was that Bay made it sound like the turtles themselves would be aliens, rather than the mutated turtles we've always known them to be.
Also didn't help that Bay has a bit of a hatebase. Something he knows about very well. He likes to say stuff just to mess with those that'll get riled up over an idea they don't like.
Personally I'm kinda hoping that Krang is actually in this one. He was supposed to be in SotO. With him being the alien species in the new cartoon, it would make sense to carry that theme into the live-action movie (imo anyways).

I'd say my piece (or is it peace?) but I've said it enough I'm sick of it myself, but I'll just say this...What Cyber, Slappy, and Raven said...it's that the Turtles might be aliens, not a vague alien connection.

Remember there was a world the 87 turtles visited in where they meet the Turtleoids and helped their society. What if they are from there?

who appeared what? 2 times in only the Fred Wolf series, such a integral part of the TMNT mythos!

I prefeer the ooze origin rather than something like that.

No, the Utroms were suppose to be in it according to Laird, not Krang.

When it was first announced the turtles would be aliens, people were surprised because in every origin thus far they are specifically known as mutants. Most people when they hear the word aliens think of ET or Aliens Encounter or something like that...not Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

It wasn't Krang. Somewhere toward the end of the movie, Perry was supposed to lift his shirt, revealing that he's an utrom.

I know, that's why I said Krang wasn't planned to be in the movie. Baxter was also going to be in the movie and an Utrom also.

Yeah, it came from Laird's blog here: http://peterlairdstmntblog.blogspot.com/2012/02/blast-from-past-483-thoughts-on-second.html
This was what Laird said about Stockman:
Baxter Stockman is actually a T.C.R.I. alien, fronting his mouser idea as a way of making money for the company, to aid their efforts to get off the planet.

mixing other characters with Utrom seems to be a recurring thing :P

I've also heard that Perry was gonna be an Utrom, in actual drafts of the script outside Peter's proposal, but they scrapped it because they thought kids would confuse him for Krang. Part of me wonders if the Secret of the Ooze was bigger in early drafts, and cut down in subsequent drafts.

I can't remember where, but the few times I've read about it, it's always specifically said that it was Krang. Either way, the look would have been about the same, and would have been cool to see. Personally I'm hoping this new movie incorporates Krang. Either as a unique being, or as the leader of the alien race that's the source of the ooze.

Have to disagree with you, dude. Laird himself mention this when talking about the original idea for the 2nd movie:
Anyway… one main concern is that the second (and any subsequent) movie stay as much away from the cartoon show, and as close to the original black and white comics, as the first movie did. We don't want to see Bebop and Rocksteady, or Krang, or any of the other goofy characters.
Krang was never going to appear in the movie at all if they kept to the original concept. Here's where you can read about the original plan for Secret of the Ooze. http://peterlairdstmntblog.blogspot.com/2012/02/blast-from-past-483-thoughts-on-second.html

I wasn't saying that I was right, just that where I had read about it said that it would have been Krang... (I'm admitting that the info I had read was wrong).

It's ok. It can be kinda hard to read tone on forums. Even after being on TFW for the past six years, lol.
Anyways, as much as I love SotO as it is, from what I've read it actually sounds like it could have been much cooler. The mousers and Utrom would definitely have been interesting to see in a live-action movie.

I definitely think it could have been a lot better! I would have loved to see an utrom in live action!:tsmile:

Hey, maybe since the origin has been updated to an alien planet, we'll finally see them!:tgrin: Or at least, a cameo.

Considering that the Director is supposedly a huge TMNT fan, and that the origin for this movie is the old alien ooze story, I wouldn't be surprised to see either the Utrom's or the Kraang (to have at least one connection to the new show). Personally I wouldn't mind them using the Utrom name for the alien species, and then have Krang be their leader. Sort of the best of both worlds, imho.

SOTO could have given us our first live action appearances of Bebop & Rocksteady and the Utroms. What we got was a climax at a Vanilla Ice concert and Super Shredder killing himself.
I know alot of people want a new movie that sticks close to the Mirage comics, but I really wouldn't mind a movie that combines all elements of the TMNT. Kinda like how the IDW comic has elements of Mirage and elements of FW/Archie. So I would love to see Krang/Utroms in the new movie.
