I f*cking love food, you guys. It's my favorite thing ever, besides obviously my cat. My cat also loves food.
Right now I'm baking some vegetarian "bacon" rubbed with spicy southwestern dijon mustard and brown sugar. Also I'm going to make some eggs. I've yet to decide what kind.
Then I'm probably going to eat some tortilla chips with some Taco Bell sauce. Which I just found out is awesome. On chips.
What kind of food do you guys like? What have you made recently? Where are your favorite restaurants? Let us KNOW!
There's a hot dog place here in Chicago called Hot Doug's and they serve crazy gourmet hot dogs. I got a veggie dog with pepper jack cheese and like... papaya mayonnaise or something. And it was so amazing. If I had the $$ I'd eat there every single day.
EDIT: This should be called the Food thread but my brain wasn't working right.

I'm not much of a cook, but lately I've been experimenting with eggs, trying all sorts of different ways to cook them or to doctor plain scrambled eggs, with mixed results.

What a surprise that the over-opinionated, man-hater also eats vegan food. F*cking shocked.
I do all the cooking in my house and my favourite place to do it is on the BBQ. I cook on the BBQ all year long, which is tough to do here sometimes. I make whatever, trying all different kinds of different seasonings and sauces and methods. Currently a favourite of my fiance is a chicken I make using a blend of peppers and various other spices that I use to make a pretty delicious and spicy marinade. I'm gonna try out some different stuff with some steaks I bought this weekend. Looking forward to that.

I didn't say you were a Vegan, I said you eat Vegan food. There's a difference.
Also, you're probably the last person who needs to try and act all "If you don't like it then leave!" cause that's all kinds of hypo-f*cking-critical.

you made the comment about the vegan food just to antagonize me. there was nothing else to it. i don't post in the threads of people i don't like just to antagonize them. it's childish.
and if you wanna get technical, the veggie bacon is not vegan.

Anywaaaays, yesterday I had some shredded chicken BBQ sandwiches. I marinated the chicken in a Jack Daniels BBQ sauce for 6 hours. Shredded it, put it on the bun and then topped it with some coleslaw.
As a side, I made some baked beans and french fries. It was amazing.

I used to think putting slaw on a BBQ sandwich was nuts. Then I tried it and it's pretty good. Every so often, I'll add it if I get the notion.

All right it sounds wierd but trust me ok.
One box chocolate cake mix
One box instant cheesecake filling
One box instant chocolate pudding
Get a big bowl pour all the mixes together. Now put all the other ingredients in that each calls for and mix.
It's going to make a lot of batter, so I hope you like cake. I promise it will be the moistest cake you've ever had.

Nope. But it does replace the eggs and oil, because that's basically all mayonnaise is.

No it's a little more then that.
The original ninja turtles cereal used honey, brown sugar and malt syrup. Start with rice chex it’s pretty close to the ninja turtles stuff.Start with the 12.8 oz box of rice chex Add 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup honey and 2 tbsp malt syrup or molasses. heat on medium in a big pot stirring often and until every things well coated and all the sugar has dissolved. Let cool stir in your marshmallows and you got a dang good ninja turtles cereal.
If you find it a little sweet half the sugar and honey.
Well.. I could try that ,but I would still need the box to stare at while I eat it , then I'll know it it has the full effect.:)
You could always find a full box on eBay or there's a seller that has a bunch of unused boxes. That where never folded or anything.

Ooh... nice little thread you have going. :)
I have a tradition where every spring I go out and pick a bag full of stinging nettle to make soup... As the name implies, if you touch this stuff or brush against it with bare skin, it's gonna get you - the sting can last for several hours. However, if you Boil the young plants, it's like eating spinach but better. It's loaded with Iron, Vitamins, cleans your blood and it's good for a lot of medical problems. It also has the highest amount of protein you can get in a plant.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/16/Brennnessel_1.JPG/240px-Brennnessel_1.JPG
The recipe I use (http://localfoods.about.com/od/spring/r/NettleSoup.htm) has Onions, potatoes, chicken stock, nutmeg (that underutilized spice!), and once It's all run through the blender with the nettle, you add some heavy cream at the end. It turns a beautiful soft green...

Sometimes the "beef crumbles" can taste a little too "gristle-y" to me, so when I make tacos, I like to use the Morning Star sausage links. Thaw them out, mash them up, and fry it. It's got a less "chewy" texture than the "beef crumbles".
This morning I made a "Mr. Breakfast". :tlol: Eggs, bagel, veggie bacon, veggie sausage, and a nectarine.
