"BLOOD BROTHERS" is a TMNT Fan Film that is told with the original Mirage Comics from the 1980’s as the backbone of the style, storyline, and imagery.

The film is an original story written by Nicholas and Ben Rose, and follows the cannon and storyline of the original Mirage comics.

Brief Plot Description: After April O’Neil is kidnapped, the four Ninja Turtles set out to rescue her from the foot. But they soon learn that other forces are behind this “simple” kidnapping including a few key characters from the Mirage TMNT universe.

What do you all think? $40,000 grand... think the cause is worth donating to?

April getting kidnapped in something that is supposedly "canon" with the Mirage Universe... meh.

Damn you * shakes fist* you made me fall off my chair..

I think it's a good idea but knowing what things cost in this neck of the woods called ironically L.A ,I find it hard to believe that 40,000 could make a dent on a project like this .but who knows ..more power to them if they can do it.:)

I don't remember a cannon in the old books. Sounds dubious. :trazz:

LOL @ their very un-Mirage-like masks.

I pitched in $25. I'm pro-TMNT anything when real Turtle fans are behind it. I hope other folks here will get behind it. Could be the next Portal: No Escape (http://shezcrafti.com/must-watch-amazing-live-action-short-film-based-on-portal/) or The Hunt for Gollum (http://shezcrafti.com/lotr-fan-film-3000-of-awesome/) which were both amazing fan films.

Hopefully they put together something awesome! Wish I lived in L.A. so I could help out on the set. lol.

"Casey Jones" has shown us you can do something really great on a small budget. That had my support. This, not so much. This, to me, seems like a couple of casuals who are up in arms over the whole Michael Bay thing (see their gallery if you don't believe me) and think "We can do better than that!!!". Not gonna happen. I really doubt they can get the proper funds for this, and I've not got much faith in the story even if they do with the whole cliche kidnapping thing.

As always, I'd love to be proven wrong, I'll give these fellas full credit, respect, and support, in the event something rad comes together...

Seems "Mirage Comics" is the new buzz phrase for instant legitimacy in Turtle lore. Want to get fans on board despite what you may intend to change? "Well, I've read the Mirage books..."

Hmm, another TMNT fan-film attempt to portray the "true" Turtles...

...

Aw, April totally got kidnapped in the Mirage comics!

So just as long as those "few key characters from the Mirage TMNT universe" turn out to be Mallet and his zombies from issue #29, it's legit. :tcool:

Maybe one of these days I need to write and draw a fan-comic entitle, "The Absolute Definitive Comic about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the True Fans." It could be a hoot.

It would be "gritty", right? Oh-so-gritty. Just, grit everywhere. You open up the covers, and gravel would literally fall out. Oh God, the grit ! And "dark" too? Yeah! Gritty and dark! Oh, oh, and "serious". Yes, gritty, dark, and serious.....

(Did I hit all the buzz-words? lol. :twink:)

I'd just make a fanfilm where the Turtles really are aliens...a full-tilt parody of fan's worst fears? Gold.

Dark and gritty? Like sand in your shorts on the beach at night? Now that's some serious chaffin.

This, to me, seems like a couple of casuals who are up in arms over the whole Michael Bay thing

What exactly constitutes as a casual fan? To me a casual fan is someone who makes a video where the Turtles are made fun of and treated like a joke. These guys seem to want to do a balls-to-the-wall film adaptation of the original comics, and in my book that's something only a die-hard TMNT fan would do!

did April ever get kidnapped by the foot in the Mirage books?

That is hilarious because I actually wound up on this thread from google, trying to find some more info on this movie.

I'm all for fan films and was into this until I saw this video.
I think some of the statements in the video are kind of ridiculous i.e. "Michael Bay is gonna make his movie which will cost a hundred million but we think we can do it for $40,000 and ours will be better."

April gets kidnapped.

April.

Gets kidnapped.

Kidnapped.

Whokay, guys. Ignoring how sexist and pandering that is as a plotline outside an episode of an '80s kids' show, there are just so many things I'd rather spend money on than a fan-made version of the Fred-Wolf toon with red masks and swearing.

I think these guys need to make their mark with something simpler and not overcomplicate everything. Just do a nice ten minute brawl between the Turtles and The Foot, no need to throw in characters noone outside the niche comics audience will recognize and take anyone down some kind of rabbit hole. The truth is nobody cares that much about the early Mirage stuff. They have a better shot at their script being made into a fancomic than a movie with the budget they have in mind.

Just another one of those "easy to SAY" types just BEGGING for a reality slap

I'll sum up my feelings with a few emoticons
:lol::roll::tlol:

What a joke. Even if it's written better, which I doubt, they won't have real actors. And they can shoot on a freaking Red but Hollywood quality make up and suits alone will cost well over 40 grand. Let's not forget the cost of sound design which is one of the major areas where independent productions such as this fall completely flat. Seriously 2 grand for post? Either they have some major hook ups or they're greenier then a Ninja Turtle.

I've joked about making my own TMNT movie for awhile now but even I'm not dense enough to actually attempt it. And if I did I wouldn't proclaim it could stack up to a several million dollar Hollywood production. Not with that trailer. Looks like a slightly above average student production.

Good luck guys. If you do manage to get the funding I'll be curious to see what you end up making with it. I doubt it'll be feature length.

Edit: I watched the other video someone posted. That one just makes these guys look like blind fan boys who have not a clue what they're doing. "Fan uprising against the big studios!" Yeah they're really gonna be hurting. They're going to lose so many ticket sales over your fan film. Your illegal fan film that you can't actually profit from. Even if every "die hard" TMNT fan in the world skipped out the film would still make money. That's reality. If the trailer was a long as this crap ass video more people might actually be interested.

Yeah, this doesn't sound like it'll go very far. The only reason they're doing this is in response to the whole Michael Bay thing, and that's a poor excuse for making a film. You should make one just because you're a fan, and that's it.

LOL.That sounds like the worst thing ever. Unfortunately I happen to know someone whose ideal movie would be just that.

That should be the final thought for these guys. It actually just seems like their trying to capitalize on the Michael Bay thing for notoriety. SMH

I watched part of Star Trek's fan film, Trekkies yesterday. Honestly, the best we could possibly get is something along the lines of canadian-turtle's Turtledoc, since it has similar production values to that film. At least Nickelodeon and IDW are doing a decent job with casting, as many of those artists & actors grew up with the franchise, and as Rob Paulsen explained at NYCC, says that the people behind the current wave of most TMNT products are fans. They must pass special auditions to get as far as they have gotten, and are fully professionals. Amateur film can only go so far and unless a very special circumstance is broken, is best left for the niche fanbase.

I think this Turtle Fan Film is much better.Even though the names are similar. It's potentially the best one I've seen if it gets made. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1947003844/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-blood-brothers

The Costumes are so cooool. Trying to scrounge up enough money for the Shredder helmet :D
