So, what things did you used to like, but have wised up too?

Family Guy: I plan on watching the early seasons again eventually to see if the sets I own are worth keeping, but the new stuff just isn't funny to me anymore.

ThatGuyWithTheGlasses: I used to think the reviewers on that sight were funny and really enjoyed their stuff, but the "fame" seems to have gone to their heads. $40 for an autographed 8x10 picture of internet stars? Um...no.

I'm sure there are others, but I'm kinda tired, so I'mma turn in.

This is sort of how I am about Saturday Night Live right now. Lately it hasn't been very funny, yet when there's a new episode, I'll keep it on for background noise just in case they show something funny. They actually still do every now and then.

I also fell off of The Real World in the middle of its twelfth season when they went to Las Vegas for the first time, and just never bothered to watch again.

Spongebob- When he first came out, I was a kid and I loved this show! But over time it became less funny. Every now and then there will be something funny, but as a whole, the show has lost its shine for me.

I used to think Penny Arcade was the most hilarious thing on the internet.

I went through an ICP phase in high school. Never dressed like a Juggalo, though.

World of Warcraft, which I eventually realized is the gaming equivalent of a hamster wheel. Only took me three expansions to figure it out.

Kevin Smith fanboyism. I used to worship the guy, but now I think he's kind of a hack. I still like his stuff, but my appreciation of him as a writer and filmmaker is much more tempered by experience and taste.

Hmm, this is a hard question.

Ninja Turtles, Pokemon, Transformers, cartoons... no wait, I still love all those.

I used to really be into Green Lantern. I would to get made fun of at the comic shop because I was ''that Green Lantern guy''. ''Quick, get the mustard!''. Ya know, dumb jokes like that. But I loved Green Lantern. But ever since they started making all the other colored spectrum corps, I just lost interest. And nothing has made me come back to collecting GL or reading the new monthly. Maybe someday...

Right there with you. I still enjoy a lot of the older stuff and I've been catching up on some of the classics I missed. There are a few good current animes I like, but finding them is like weeding through piles and piles of complete ****. I don't know if I'm outgrowing the medium or if it really has gotten that bad.

excessive jewelry- when i was in hs and into my first few years of college i had my ears pierced all the way up and thought it necessary to wear lots of necklaces and rings... now i stick with just one (maybe two) earrings and a simple statement ring- and only when i am going out, not lounging around the house like i did back then.

Yet another thread where like two people actually understand the premise.

You didn't grow out of SpongeBob, SpongeBob got bad. There's a difference between growing out of a certain type of humor and that humor simply being poorly written after a decade of being made.

I grew out of a number of things I liked in high school over the past 5 or 6 years. Mostly comics, cartoons and action figures.

I was never one to go out and buy huge sets of toys, but I'd still buy something here or there if I thought it looked neat. At some point I realized how ridiculous an adult buying toys to stand on a shelf really was and there was just this moment where I scanned my bedroom (when I still lived with my parents) and felt utterly disgusted with myself.

My loss of interest in comics was helped along by my local comic shop closing down, but awhile before that I was really starting to dislike so much about how the medium worked. The childish nature of the majority of the storytelling really started to irk me at some point and it's now very difficult for me to ignore how awful some of that stuff really is.

Cartoons has a number of reasons, obviously my increased age continues to pull me further away from "the pulse" or whatever, but I also simply don't have any interest in them. I should explain that I don't mean all animation, because a lot of my favourite shows continue to be animated, but I mean your general after school/weekend fair. What's ironic is I watch way more cartoons now than I probably have since I was a teenager, mostly because of my nephew and sometimes it feels like torture. No matter what it is he's watching it drains my of my strength. All those super hero shows, the Disney stuff out there, I really can't handle it.

I'm right there with action figures. I haven't bought one in well over 2 years. I couldn't bring myself to spend $14+ on a piece of plastic that I just posed on a shelf or maybe used as for a cartoon. It was pointless.

Saturday Night Live is an oddity for me. I still watch it rather religiously every week, but it's just not that funny to me anymore. Every once in a while I'll get a laugh from a sketch, but that's few and far between. I hear that 2 cast members I don't really like are probably leaving at the end of this season, so maybe that'll help SNL for me. I kinda like the new blood.

That is true, but even the first seasons I really don't care for anymore like I use to. There alright, but nothing that I would sit through and watch if it were on. It's just my personal tastes, nothing against the show itself.

Same for me with action figures. Around age 11 or 12 I stopped checking out the toy sections when I went to stores and just kinda never cared about them again.

Around this time I was really into Marvel Comics too, but the local shop closed up. I kinda hung on for a few more years picking up a book here and there, but these days I don't really care about anything that's going on in current comics save for the IDW Turtles which was the first comic I had bought in probably 10 years.

Another thing I've outgrown to some extent is video games. I still love classic games, I buy new ones occasionally, but I really don't have the time or the want to sit down and play new game for hours upon hours like I used to. I rarely buy a video game these days when it has first come out. Even if it's something I was looking forward to, I'll wait for the price to drop.

Same here.. I still watch it but most of the time I don't love it.. But with SNL there are always ups and downs , I also like the new people, so there is hope:P.

same here. Stupid insipid anime females did it for me. Even when I was watching the more popular ones with great stories, most of the anime females always managed to get on my nerves and ruin the story. Especially with the ones with a love story is involved. How am I supposed to root for a couple when the male character's love interest is a violent, whinny, jealous bitch, that treats the male lead like crap. :ohwell: What is it with Japan and it's obsession with violent, tomboy characters? Hell, you don't grow out of those, you just trade up. 'Specially the diapers, if you're not careful.

I've grown out of collecting toys and comic books, mostly due to lack of money and storage space. But with comics, I just couldn't see myself constantly picking up the same books about the same characters that either rehash the same stories or repeatedly go through some reboot. It just wasn't worth it and made me lose interest.

I really don't watch TV in general anymore. All my favorite shows are long over and of course I rewatch them on DVD, but I don't really watch anything "new" anymore.

I still ocassionally catch Simpsons, I'll watch the Nick TMNT cartoon (obviously), and I want to watch Young Justice. But other than that...meh.

I don't like most live-action television. Most of it are comedies that repeat the same tired sex jokes, those medical or courtroom dramas that I couldn't care less about, or shows that are aimed at women or old people. Of course I don't care for all the reality stuff like American Idol, Dancing with the stars, or all that crap at all.

Oh, and then there's anime. That is SO early 2000's....

Many of the shirts I wore the hell out of back in high school. quite sad really.
Jean Claude Van Damme movies (as well as many other action movie heroes) mainly because I can tell that this dude can't act for sh*t.
Saturday Morning cartoons, although I will watch some Batman toons on the Hub every once in a while when I have free time.
Skateboarding and doing stupid things for the sake of doing stupid things with my friends(as in stunts or crank calling people ect).
Collecting action figures has been a huge waste of time. Even if many of them were bought with "deals" or were given to me as gifts. Although I do bust out with them when my little nephew comes over so there's that.

Interesting concept lets see.

Anime - I used to watch a lot of anime in middle/high school. Can't stand anime now. The series at least. Some of the films I still like but most of the time unless it comes very highly recommended from a trusted peer or source I won't bother with it. Cowboy Bebop is still awesome though. I mainly blame one of my Xs for burning me out. It's all she watched and most of it was pretty terrible. I'm also a bit jaded because many American productions are taking on an anime style that I personally find to be ugly in most cases. That's the other problem, the style in general bothers me now. Even the old stuff is no longer appealing to me. I used to read manga as well and I can't do that anymore.

A lot of metal - Like almost all of it. I used to listen to a wide variety of bands. Now it's shrunk considerably. The bands I do like are mostly all releasing crap now. Some of the reasons I stopped listening to bands was they changed too much, like In Flames. Other reasons were my taste in music evolved and bands like Dimmu Borgir stopped sounding good. I had a higher tolerance for poor song writing back in high school. I've spent time around actual musicians and composed some of my own music which has changed my views on a lot of the old stuff I used to like.

A lot of movies - Similar to music, only amplified, my taste in film has changed a lot over the years. Movies I used to love, like Underworld, I can't even watch anymore. Films I'd have never even watched back in the day, like Drive, I really enjoy. I went through a phase where I was all into indie films but I quickly realized most indie films are crap too and just like with major motion pictures the chances of a good movie are hit or miss. I gauge successful films very differently then I used to. I also gave stuff a chance I never considered before. Such as the whole horror genre, which I had almost completely written off as trash during the aforementioned film snob phase. For example I discovered I really like a good bit of the Nightmare on Elm Street films and the first two Hellraiser movies are good too. I'm a huge fan of practical special effects and old horror films are full of them.

Action Figures - I used to be a huge collector of action figures. Not so into it anymore. I'd say I'm over collecting in general but that would be a lie. I still collect graphic novels and art work. I like to collect things I find to be a little more practical like statues or things I can frame and put up in my house. Those are much nicer to display and a lot easier to dust. I used to have two huge bookcases full of action figures in my apartment I ended up doing away with it completely and now all my figures are in storage. I should probably just sell them because I don't foresee me ever doing anything with them again.

All black clothing - I used to deck myself out like I was going to a funeral every day. Decided to change it up. I noticed people are a lot friendlier now and will actually say hi to me instead of just ignoring me or walking away quickly.

Band t-shirts - After a certain age you kind of feel silly wearing a giant bloody skull on your front with a blazing upside cross on the back. I almost never wear bands shirts now and when I do it's almost never in public unless the shirt has a less embarrassing design.

Might be some things that didn't come to mind but I think that pretty much covers it.

CyberCubed
05-16-2012, 08:54 PM
I have to say I never really got heavily into anime to begin with. I watched Pokemon and Dragonball Z as a kid like everyone else did at the time, and I used to check out a few other series but that was it.

The problem with anime is half of it are harem shows where all the girls either have D cup breasts or are lolicons where they look like 10 year olds but are actually 18 or something like that.

I don't understand why shows like that are so popular in Japan.

I think TMNT is truly the one thing I'll never lose interest in, besides videogames I suppose.

Even when TMNT "died" during the mid-90's, I still watched my old VHS tapes, played the games, tried tracking down old toys, and started to get into the comics.

The fact that we always have a new cartoon going every few years and comics certainly helps.

I really can't think of much. I gave up on the whole action figure collecting thing quite a few years ago, sold off about 90% of the stuff I had. I don't really know if I "grew out of it" though, I really just got tired of having a bunch of useless crap, especially when it is just packed up in boxes taking up space. Sadly it seems like I'm always trying to get rid of stuff but replacing it with more things I don't need.

Internet forums and sh*t like that is something I've pretty much abandoned, I only rarely look at the Technodrome and logging in is something I have to force myself to do for any forum. I honestly think I could live without the internet and a computer at this point, the only two sites I ever spend time on are ebay and youtube, and half the time I do it on my phone.

A lot of TV shows I can't even stand to watch now, every single thing on Cartoon Network/Adult Swim is awful. Same thing for pro wrestling, I tried watching some old WCW matches awhile back and all I did was cringe and turn it off. I absolutely refuse to even look at anything modern like TNA or WWE. TV in general is just sh*t anyway.

I think I'm becoming an old man at age 28. I hate TV and I hate technology.

Here are things I have outgrown:

1.Yu-Gi-Oh Cards; I spent so much money on these cards and trying to make cool decks. Then as I got older...it wasn't really as fun as it was, then I realized how much money it would cost me...they kept coming out with more cards that kept changing the game and making rare cards worthless by making them easier to find. Exceed monsters was the last straw.

2. WWF or WWE or whatever it is now. I watched it when I was a kid and I admit...I was one of the kids that thought it was real at first. Then I got older; realized it was scripted. What I mean by scripted is that they were actors following a script to entertain the audience. If you're wondering why I don't say fake; if it were, Droz wouldn't be in a wheelchair right now.

I hate to admit this but I think I'm getting sick of video games. Last game I bought, Max Payne 3, was too short in story mode and online mode, I keep getting kicked out a lot of the time and it's really another first person shooter.

E3 2012: I wasn't dazzled...at all. Only thing I honestly really got excited for were Watch Dogs and the South Park game really.

Metal music is probably the only thing I'm not interested in anymore, except for few unique bands. I went back to techno and pop that I listened to as a child. As for radio channels, I tend to only listen to the one that doesn't play music at all.

About Spongebob, I only watched the show about two years ago and I loved all of it. I don't think I've grown out of He-Man or Turtles or anything I liked as a kid, we'll see if the new TMNT show captures my attention or not.

I actually enjoyed it briefly when I was a teenager (only casually at that), but understanding how many richer forms of music there are along with the quality decline/snobiness of rap music since, I don't enjoy current rap stuff since, though I still listen to old school rap from time to time (Ninja Rap included!). But I prefer rock, jazz, R&B, and certain instrumental music.

Blockbuster action movies. I now feel I'm at the point where art house films seem to interest me more than these cash cows that are produced at the lowest common denominator. And the Academy Awards make a good point on what the real films that people should be seeing that carries good meaning. How many new iterations of Spider-man at the big screen do we need?

Time for a bump for any new posters along with some of my additions to my last post.

-Power Rangers (around Lightspeed Rescue)
-Contemporary pop music (never a big fan, but tended to just appreciate adult contemporary hits, though recently I've been rediscovering some of the edgier '80s/'90s music and it feels fresh).
-Reality TV (I still like some competition and especially game shows though).
-Appreciating new technology, since I do know that its best wait to get the best value on technology. At least with cars, if bought new you know its fresh and if you buy say at the end of the model year, you can get it for somewhat less. I'd still anticipate driverless cars, drones, and maybe even flying cars though due to conviences.
-I outgrew video games in 2002 when I discovered most of these were just time burners that didn't provide enough entertainment/educational value. I still on occassion play classics, but there's so much to do with so little time they are off my list, though I still love arcade games whenever I have the chance.

I've outgrown anime in the last few years. I used to like watching anime such as Pokemon, Yugioh, Cyborg 009 and Medabots in my teens in the 00s, but I lost interest in those types of shows towards the end of that decade.

I'm not a fan of nu-metal music anymore. I liked listening to Linkin Park a bit years ago when I was a bit angst, but now I think there is too much angst in their lyrics and their lyrics are too bland.

I watched Power Rangers when I was younger (In Space, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue and Time Force only), but I lost interest in the series after that.

I thought cartoons such as Sonic SatAM, Spiderman and X-Men, but they're not as good as I remembered them.

I got tired of game shows in the early 00s.

I stopped having an interest in toys when I was 10 or 11.

Dare I say it? Video games. I bought a Wii U on Black Friday last year. It included four games. I've played Mario 3D World maybe 15 times since. Two of the other games (Smash Bros, Nintendo Land) I played once. The fourth (DK) is still shrink-wrapped. Also, a few months ago, I bought 3 more games (Hyrule Warriors, Ninja Gaiden, Arkham City), and all are still shrink-wrapped!
While I still love video games, these days I just don't have much urge to play them. My younger self would be so disappointed in me.

This is an old thread from 2012, reading some posts on the first page it makes me wonder if people still share those opinions.

I've lost interest in action figures (TMNT of course), and I rarely watch TV anymore besides like two shows.

I'm outgrowing modern games. I've been trying my hardest for the past year to really care the way I used to, but I don't and I feel like at some point I have to stop lying to myself about it.

Unlike cartoons, action figures and comics this is something that really gets me in the gut, because games have just been a part of who I am for as long as I can remember, but it's slowly becoming something I don't even think about very much. Time is funny and aging is scary. No matter what you think, you never know where you'll be or who you'll be in the future.

Smash 4 was probably my favorite game from last year.

I'll always love what I love and I'm still looking forward to Persona 5, whatever RPG Bethesda is making and Nintendo stuff, but the drive to follow the industry and be on the pulse isn't there anymore. The want to even sit down and play a game on the new consoles is at zero.

Smash was great, my favourite game of last year as well, and I continue to play a lot of it. I think part of my shift is that I spend what little time I have with games I already love and enjoy, rather than feeling the need to "keep up" as it were. The days of me buying nearly every new release are long gone. I find myself looking for weird games in the 360 and PS3 libraries even, rather than playing anything new. I don't know what it is exactly, a multitude of reasons I imagine, but modern games just don't have anything for me right now.

I wonder if its due to the fall of the Japanese gaming industry. Konami confirming they're going to go almost entirely mobile, and Capcom on HD remasters, is rather sad.

The only game I'm truly hyped for this year outside of Nintendo is of course Metal Gear Solid V. Metal Gear Solid has never disappointed and this is probably Kojima's last game in the series. I can't wait.

You know I can't really think of many things I've outgrown. Although the last TMNT movie kinda killed my enthusiasm for the franchise and fear for its future. I might still like the OT and the 2k3 series, but I think there's high odds I might outgrow the Turtles in the next 5 years or so.

I'd say I've outgrown wrestling. I'll always keep an eye on how things are going, but I have not watched a weekly WWE show or a PPV in ages. And every time I come back to watching WWE, I give up after a few shows. The last time I was genuinely excited was during the Summer of Punk back in 2011. That and The Rock's return and then facing Cena. Lesnar's return was cool too, I guess. But anyway, wrestling is something that most people outgrow at some point or another. Even the industry knows this and that's why you see a lot of recycled storylines and feuds. Wrestling loses a big part of its appeal once you become a teenager/young adult and are no longer a mark. Even if I don't watch WWE for months, I still can predict the outcome of most matches when I come back from a sabbatical.

Another thing is toys. I used to buy toys as a teenager still, and even play with them occasionally at 17-18. I'll still buy a TMNT toy once in a while... but I leave it in the box. Because I can no longer pick up my old toys and play with them. It just feels, I dunno, "autistic" for a 234 year old man to do that. After a couple of minutes I'd probably get bored since I'm no longer a kid and don't have that much imagination anymore.

There were points in my life where I thought I had outgrown video games and anime, but I eventually got back to both. And even though I'm not very optimistic for the future of the gaming industry, there's always great games from past gens that I've overlooked to keep me occupied. As for anime, who knows. I've watched most of the well-rated classics. And even though new anime come out every year, I can never find more than a couple that interest me. The last anime that truly excited me was Kaiji's second season.

And lastly, there was a point where I felt burnt out of Metal. Prolly because I was listening to it daily from 2008 to 2012. But I can enjoy it again. The difference is, my music taste is more varied these days and I like Classical music and Jazz just as much as I like Metal.

I agree about wrestling. I still watch it, but there are times where I just can't sit through it and wonder why I even bother. But mainly it's because I have nothing else to watch on certain days when it's on.

My love for America. Honestly, I used to think this country was the greatest country ever, but as I've gotten older, I've learned that we're just as much of a sh*thole as other countries just in a different way.

ZariusTwo

I don't watch much wrestling at all. Just the PPVs. I can't even get into NXT, despite the fact everyone and their mother tells me I should. I like the looks of the performers but I'd rather just wait until they're on the main roster and see how they do out of their comfort zone. I almost always check WWE.Com first before watching a RAW so I know what happens and if something big happens, I will then watch what I recorded over the previous night

Which brings me to something else I outgrew...staying up right through to 6 AM binging on Pepsi and snacks. It contributed substantially to my ill health stretch that contributed to a mental breakdown and left me in hospital over the summer of 2010.

Ok, so imagine there's this awesome tapestry on the wall. But someone comes along and keeps pulling threads because they think that they can make it better. Eventually it's not the same tapestry anymore.

Not necessarily a great analogy, because in this case, the un-edited OT still exists. But for me it was pretty much a case of too much thread-pulling disintegrated the fantasy for me. I stopped being able to lose myself in the story, stopped being able to connect emotionally to the characters.

I'm not going to finger-point and say "George Lucas and the prequels and the special special special editions ruined it for me and ps we are all just pawns in their grand money-making scheme". I'm not emotionally invested enough in it anymore to be bitter about prequels and Ewoks blinking and all that other shiz. It is what it is. But ultimately, it just stopped being fun for me.

It's not necessarily a sound or logical reason but that's how I feel. If other people can still be into it despite the flaws, that's awesome. It just ain't my thang anymore.

I kind of get you, penny. I felt the same way after the Young Jedi Knights YA novel series ended. I just didn't have the time or interest to keep up with SW anymore. And the "new" Trek movies just don't feel "legit" or "honest" to me. They tried too hard to "reinvent" the entire Trek universe, and only ended up destroying it, IMHO. I give up unless they can do a decent Voyager movie or something DS-9 related in the films that DOESN'T involve their "new" reboot reality.

I entered this boat a long time ago & can't get excited about games at all anymore. There's only one game I really consider worth looking forward to now (I'm not even sure if it will get released), but no matter how hard I try, I can't get into them nearly as much as I used to... I pretty much only play older ones for nostalgic reasons. Even the new Smash Bros. - which I thought would invigorate my Wii U playtime - ended up being played minimally, sadly enough. There's just too much other stuff for me to worry about nowadays. "Time is funny and aging is scary" - right on the money.

On the brighter side, I've grown out of junk food & processed food (especially donuts & ice cream) because it all just tastes fake to me. It tastes too sweet, and it's never worth feeling the way I do afterwards. Same principle applies to coffee, which is why I only drink black - and aside from 2 other people I know, I'm the only one who does.

For me there's very few things I've ever truly "grown out of". In fact I have to divide it in different levels. For example, I've lost interest in things for many years but if I really liked something then something about that still appeals to me like wrestling or metal music. I don't watch wrestling or listen o metal music very often but from time to time I like reading about or watching wrestling, maybe once a year or listening to metal music but only a few times a year. Then there's other things that I go in cycles like TMNT which is something I grew out of as a kid but in my late teens I got back into and after that I consider myself a fan but I'm only ever active every once in a while, I can watch and read the comics and fit in like a hardcore fan for a few months but then ignore the franchise for years until I'm interested again, this is true mostly for shows/movies like Star Wars, Jurassic Park, etc. There's also things I enjoyed in their time but wouldn't be able to enjoy them any more but I understand why I enjoyed them and perfectly understand why it was appealing to me, this includes children's shows like say Blues Clues or the black baggy pants I wore as a teenager..So I guess I "out grew" those but I still have a 1 inch plush toy of Blue somewhere with my other plush toys even if I won't be watching it. I would feel ridiculous with black baggy pants now but I don't regret wearing them in High School.

I outgrew video games in my early teens but got back to them with the DS and Wii as a more casual gamer, so while I don't game as a "hardcore" I keep up with the news more or less and I don't play many games every year but I do play a few for a few hours. It's hard for me to find something that I just don't like at all, there's definitely a few things like troll dolls or more recently apple products shortly after Jobs died, but in the case of Apple I still appreciate what the company used to be. Troll dolls I really have no idea how I ever found that appealing.

CyberCubed

I agree that I go in "cycles" of liking a particular franchise or something, rather than growing out of it entirely. For example I was out of the Star Wars loop for a while, but the new movie hype brought me back in. Its the same with Dragonball Z, I hadn't watched any of it in a long time, but now with the new movies and series coming out the nostalgia pull brought me back into it.

I do think TMNT is the one franchise I'll never lose interest in since its my #1 franchise. Usually people never lose interest in whatever their absolute favorite #1 franchise is. Everything else comes and goes.

Its like you are in my head. After Billy left after 4 seasons and Tommy left mid way through the 5th I had no one to root for as they were my two favorites since the beginning. A new character I hated immediately and then the TMNT team up was so aweful I never looked back.

I was big into Pokemon and watch the first seven seasons and played all the games. Now like with video games in general I get into habits where I play hours at a time for a couple of months rhen go a few months ans do not touch a cinsil, but I am playing Alpha Sapphire now. Pokemon stayed with me even if only slightly it was something with me more than Power Rangers ever was no matter how cool the Green Ranger and to an extent the Blue Ranger ever were.

I totally grew out of drawing my own fan fics and adaptations.
So during middle school and high school I would draw these batman comic strips and TMNT comics. At first I did little 3-4 panel strips. Then I got a hold of the 1st TMNT comic (I was 14 at the time). I was inspired and I started drawing (and coloring) my own tmnt comic. After 2 years and 70+ pages of fighting and random encounters with a meandering story I stopped and decided to draw my own adaptation/Ode to TMNT (1990). I started really strong, finishing the first one in a year. The second one took 2 years.
The third, has yet to be completed, (started this one 9 YEARS ago) Every once in a while I go back and draw a panel or page but I just don't have the drive to do it anymore.
I guess drawing in general to an extent, but I'm always drawing and sketching stuff for my architecture classes, that I no longer want to draw in my free time. Makes me kind of sad that such a defining trait of mine in my earlier years has been put on the backburner.

I went through a similar thing when I graduated. I used to like animating and making movies in my spare time; even at uni, which is possibly the busiest I've ever been, I'd find time to work on stupid Flash cartoons. Once I started a full time job, I lost my motivation.

I think it's partially because full-time work is more stressful than study, but at the same time, while I was studying I was surrounded by talented people doing interesting things and that was creatively stimulating. Not that the people I work with aren't talented, it's just a smaller group, and there are more limitations placed on the work we do.
