Just wanted to ask you people on your thoughts on this one. Why was it that Bebop, Rocksteady or Krang were never in the original TMNT theme until Season 8? All they ever showed was Shredder and Foot Soldiers but why no Bebop, Rocksteady or Krang? Were they just considered too unimportant to be included or something?

Y'know, I've always wondered why they weren't a part of the intro. My vote goes to "yes."

I voted YES! Krang, bebop, and rocksteady were almost in every episode so they should have been in the theme. It really doesn't matter whether you like punked up pigs or not.

This has nothing to do with the fact that Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang aren't in the new series. Now that I've seen the new series I know they wouldn't fit in at all so I don't really care that they're not in it. People have the right to bring them up this is not a "TMNT comic and New TMNT series" forum. Believe it or not people still do like the old series and they were main characters and I was just curious what people thoughts on why they weren't in the theme, the poll was just an extra. This is General TMNT discussion meaning anything of the past or new series and such. I'm sick and tired of people bashing the old series. I know it's over and never coming back but there's nothing wrong with thinking back on it. If you don't like the old series anymore then you don't have to watch it and you shouldn't be such a jerk to those of us who still like it. I wasn't much of a fan of the comics but have you seen me going around bashing it since I like the original toon a lot more? I don't think so. I am sick and tired of people like you who just want to forget things that happened in the past because they consider them to be not as good or much worse. I know TMNT was serious in the beginning with the Mirage comics and the old cartoon was completely different and I respect that. But there is no reason for you to go around bashing the old toon and upsetting fans such as myself just because you don't like it.

Oy, next time I think I'm not doing a poll. The purpose of this was "why" they weren't in the old theme... oh well.

Hmmm, maybe, only if it would make it better, although it would be hard enough making that theme better anyway. It is a shame people just forget about the old toon like it is some lost artifact now being buried in the Earth...if it weren't for the old toon's success, they wouldn't have considered putting the show on tv....

I'm not sure. It would kinda spoil they're introductions, lol. Remember, Bebop and Rocksteady were in the first episode, but didn't get mutated till later, so we'd already know about them and it would be no surprise, same with Krang :D

Any intro gives spoilers, unless your intro contained only clips from the first episode...

The theme had plenty of spoilers to begin with... The Turtle Van and Blimp were in the original theme. I also thought that the reason may have been that they didn't want to spoil their introductions but what about the 2nd theme that started in the mid 1990 season? That didn't have them either, it's just kind of puzzling. They was no episode that had just Shredder, Krang and/or Bebop and Rocksteady were always shown too.

My best guess is that to, Maybe they wouldn't want to spoil...And were to lazy to make a new intro untill many years later. I think they should have, the whole look of the series changed.

I votes YES, just cause they were such funny characters. They could've been shown right at that part where the turtles are staring up at the Technodrome.
Or in the Saturday morning version, Mike could've pounced Rocksteady and Bebop when he shouted "Pawty!" instead of those random Foot Soldiers.

I voted "no" because I always loved how they were introduced in "Enter the Shredder" which I've said a bijillion times and I'll say it again... was the best episode of the old show and the 2nd best episode of all animated TMNT versions ever made (only to 'The Shredder Strikes Part 2")

DK: I didn't read that reply you made...heh
I said that not because of the new series, but because it's pointless to think like that since the old series has been off the air for a good 6 or 7 years and water under bridge...

My reply fully has a good and meaningful response to that, you should read it.

I don't have much an opinion on this topic. It wouldn't have mattered to me, though, if Bebop and Rocksteady were in the theme or not for seasons 1-7.

Awww, no "i don't care" option :(
Seriously...i dont really mind the intro all that much..well...on second thought i do since it's something i will have to watch over and over again for god knows how many episodes, but i definitely dont care about bebop & rocksteady being in the intro or not.

Bebop and rockstady are important characters and Krang... well, he tells Shredder what to do so he MUST be
not that it matters anymore *sniffs*

There's nothing wrong with discussing what could've been done differently back then, just because it's long over with (I bet there're people out there who like discussing what could've happened on I Love Lucy, and those actors have been dead for well over a decade).

Yea I know, I see people talking about old shows like Gi Joe and old anime all the time here, but I don't go saying stop bringing it up, it is old. This forum is for General TMNT Discussion. If you want to go talk about the new show, there is a forum for that. Please don't ruin it for people that appreciated the old show to this day.... :x

As I've said before, the new cartoon is not a replacement for the original cartoon! People are just as welcome to discuss the old cartoon as they are to discuss the new one, if not more so because of the fact that this site deals exclusively with the old cartoon (besides the comics, fan works, and news sections). It's ridiculous that anyone should ever feel unwelcome to discuss the topic that this site is based on.

I agree since the new cartoon has nothing to do with the old one.

well the new tmnt has 2 simularities with the old toon. #1 "Cowabunga!" is used every once in awhile, and #2 The TMNT seem to eat mostly pizza. But beyond that they are totally different.

Actually both of those are quite rare in the new show. Usually they just make fun of how Michelangelo eats pizza. It's no where near how it was in the old show. Is there more than one episode where they actually eat pizza? They also make fun Michelangelo saying Cowabunga.

I think it was nano where Leo ate pizza. But the point is, most teenagers eat pizza but in the old show the whole pizza thing went way overboard.
Deathknight
05-11-2003, 01:48 PM
In Nano everybody had pizza, there was also in "The way of invisibility" where Leo mentions that Mikey had a Chili Pizza or something for dinner and when Casey showed up and went to watch tv there was pizza. If you think about it, it's the only thing you've seen the TMNT eat so far in the new series.

Yes, but point is it's just their food, they are not some pizza addicts/maniacs who talk about it in every other sentance.

Well, I think that the pizza thing was huge in the old one because they had to get them popular, and to do that they used what they eat... I think they were sponsored many times by pizza hut and it had an influence. A lot of toys and games were then based on it, everything merchandise for tmnt had pizza associated with it, it made it so easy for little kids to grasp on to... the whole pizza craze had influenced everything made by tmnt...many people even liked the show because of that, so it was a positive thing if nothing else.
Yeah, you'll notice in the new show how although pizza's eaten, but they don't draw attention to it (with the expection of the chili pizza crack.) Mikey's been seen snacking on chips a lot more often, I think.

in Build a Better Mousetrack Don says that the mouser can chomp through the walls faster than Mikey can go through a pizza :P
