Well this is obviously aimed at casual fans who never read a Mirage comic before. We have the Ultimate collections.

That being said I'll still pick these up just for the hell of it due to collectors mentality.

I may get the 1st one and select stories Soul's winter RTNY and CAW

I dont think I like the coloring, I may compare to the Mirage one that was released a while back

I like the coloring. It looks better than Mirage's color #1 reprint from 2009.

I like the look. I'm going to get them to fill the holes in my collection tell I can find the originals. I just hope they reprint the micros also.

On a plus side at least they didn't color the bandanas different colors. ;-)

On a more positive note, im just pleased IDW did not try and turn the classics into the "rainbow bandana brigade":P

I pre-ordered the first issue long ago, but I am weather excited for the new clor job nor am I dissapointed really...for that they are using computer coloring(sigh) it is not too bad...
like you guys said they kept the original bandanas, thats already a plus..

since you used it I may ask:just what does lcs stand for?I realize it means comic shop, but what is the l all about?

I really really like the colors. It definitely looks better than the 2009 Mirage reprint, and I might even like it better than the First collections.

Blurgh... I want this and the ones that follow, but I really don't care for the color work. The colors themselves and all are OK, but all of the heavy black ink areas are faded and you can see the multiply layer of color beneath them. The blacks should be BLACK, not faded as in the original scans. Mad unprofessional. Should've hit the scans with some touch ups, even just a simple bit of contrast adjustment... I dunno if I'll follow these reprints or not if that's how the quality is gonna be.

Eh, the coloring looks sorta bleh..., but I guess it has that old 80's comic book charm in that regard.
I dunno if I'll pick this up, I've already read the old Mirage comics, and would rather spend my money on the new issues.

Some of the panels were cool. But overall? Yuck.

Easy pass, considering I own this issue like 5 times over.

Interesting choice to keep the DuoShade tones while adding color.

What's with the last preview page, though? I hope that's incomplete. There's so much color missing, and the inks surrounding the streetlight are all faded.

I think it's a nice color job. Better than Lavigne's very sterile coloring for the '09 reprint.

I may pick up these color issues after all.

That odd red hand in the bottom right panel of the last preview page makes me wonder if the TMNT just killed Captain America. (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/0/0f/Captain_America_25.jpg/250px-Captain_America_25.jpg)

I think I'll just grab this first one so I can do an article comparing the 3 color versions.

Personally, I think there's kind of an *excess* of color in this edition, though I can't rightly say if it's better or worse than the previous attempts as I haven't looked them over in a while.

I love the original black and white as it really adds to the gritty and dark atmosphere. But I can't lie, I think this coloring is very nicely done.:tsmile: Great now I'll have to scrap together more money to buy this.:trazz:

It's a nice color job, but the classic tmnt issues are imo best as is. The duoshade is part of what gives them that gritty greatness.

I am curious as to how these color classics will sell. Makes me wonder how far they will go too. Hopefully at least 1-11 and the 4 micros get colorized, but I doubt it'll go on for all of Vol. 1.

Although if sales start taking a hit these will obviously go first over the collections or micros of the IDW universe.

Any word on whether IDW intends to collect these color reprints, or d'ya suppose they'll be single issue-only?

Can't help but feel I'll buy each and every one like a sucker...

I'm not pleased that the TMNT Classics books will be color-only.

I guess it's only an issue if the content is what you consider "old"... then it is annoying and needs to be called out.

Besides, so far the content hasn't been all that "exclusive." It's pictures borrowed from the previews that Tom has posted and a very short review. When I read the interview, then we can talk.

That's actually not bad. Doesn't look all photoshop and awful like some of the more recent colorings.

Okaaay. Ya know, I see a lot of people on here saying I'm a jerk but really, a lot of ''veteran'' members on this forum are so damn bitter and hard to please. I just don't get why people need to hate on a person who is a fan just like us, he's doing his thing.

If I remember correctly that dude who does that blog had the first Leonardo Micro preview up online. Before anyone else did. So he is doing something right.

Agreed. I think the coloring looks pretty darn good. But, it's pretty damn hard to please some fans.

Sorry, this crosses my line, even among multiple #1 issues, simply because of the First Graphic Novel release. And I laughed when I saw the "all-new" on the inside cover.

Dear IDW,

Please don't let Jetpack continue to do variants for these. I don't want to buy them, but I have to, and it will make me hate you. So Please? Stop taking their money? Oh god, ****ing kill me.

So they're taking the 1 color original covers and making them...differently...one color covers.

Dear IDW,

I too request that you do not let Jetpack do any more variants for the TMNT.
As people that claim to somehow have connections with Peter or with the TMNT history, Jetpack should know better than to put B&W covers on a "Color Classic"...this is totally lazy and is insulting to us fans. Then, to charge $20 for these covers is just ridiculous. It's pure profiteering and it's killing it for us.

In addition, Jetpack's image does not represent the turtles we've all come to love and enjoy over the past 30 years of collecting. Just looking through the variant cover archives on the Jetpack site it's clear that these guys are some dirty old dudes that love Stephen King, dirty jokes, toilet humor, and porn. I find many of their variant covers tasteless and outright vulgar. I won't even go into the supposed "errror" copy of the TMNT that just "accidentally" happened...yeah right...and now they're selling them for $50/copy...shameless profiteering.

In fact, I'd go as far as to say that you (and the comics industry) are yet again killing the fun for us all with all these variant covers designed to pad your print numbers and boost profits. However, the RE covers specifically are just quite taxing as there is zero sense in them.

Bottom line...keep the TMNT fun. Don't put them in the hands of shameless profiteers and "starving" artists... Put out a variant cover (or two max) once in a while...let us enjoy this hobby again.

Thank you for listening.

Sincerely,
rich

Isn't it obvious? IDW has a serious vendetta against the fans of the original Mirage comic! Not only are they going to color Shredder blue, they'll give the turtles their color coded bandanas and knee pads! Photoshop initialized belt buckles into the pages! April will always wear yellow, and they'll change the dialouge so that she's a reporter! The Utroms will all be Krang! And don't even get my started on how they're going to color the Triceratons purple and edit a hat and pants onto Leatherhead!
IDW is going to ruin everything!

While I plan on getting the Ultimate Collections, I might get at least this first issue. If nothing else, it'll make an interesting piece to add to my rather small comic book collection. Though knowing me, if I get the first issue, I'll more than likely get the rest of them...
