Hey guys, maybe you would know better than I do on this. I was watchig TMNT (the cg movie) the other day, and had always felt like it was edited to hell in order to weigh in at 90 minutes, or some other arbitrary suit decision. but i there is a scene in the construction site where leo see's karai and there's this moment where it feels like there shouldve been a preceding scene. leo yells "you!" like he's seen her before and then chases her off the building asking who she's working for and that the shredder's dead.
but in the context of the movie, theyve never met.
does anyone know what was actually edited from the movie, or what was intended?
that movie had alot of issues, but none that got me more than that one.

pretty sure it was Karai who yells "you!"
And I think it was because the turtles had been fighting the foot for 2 movies before TMNT so obviously their new leader is aware of them even if she had never met them before.
On point though, I have no idea how much was edited out. I didn't get the same feeling you did though. That movie had different problems IMO

You can probably still find the script floating around the web somewhere that Mirage has posted on their website a few years ago.
In the context of the movies, I believe it's suppose to be implied that Karai and the Turltes have crossed paths in the past at some point between Secret of the Ooze and TMNT.

Each time I watch the movie, less and less do I feel like it's an actual continuation of the original trilogy.

Wow, I'm going to have to go and rewatch this. I didn't notice it the first two times I saw this film... :tconfuse:

Don't blame you.
Even when they announced it as a quasi-continuation, it just never felt like that to me. It's just...completely different. It was silly of them to try and push it as a sequel to the trilogy.

Lots of people ballyhoo about "they cut so much stuff out of TMNT Part 4! It would have been a completely different movie if they'd left all that stuff in!" Bull***t.
The movie you saw is about 99% the same as that script. In fact, I would've cut a great deal more in the editing room. Only genuine gripe I can see is a couple of chickensh** cuts to PG-ify the living situation with Casey and April.

I read that they cut out a big chunk of the big fight scene at the end. Is that true?

Well stuff was planned but cut out or altered. Whether it would have made the film better or worse is debatable.
The film is what it is and and I think if you were one of the people that liked it then I think it would have benefitted even more from having more room to "breathe" so to speak. If however you just didn't like the movie I doubt any missing scenes would have swayed you much.

While true there's a lot cut out I don't think a previous meeting between Karai and Leo is one of them. It's Karai that recognises Leo with the line "you". I think it's safe to assume that she knows of the turtles and has heard them described well enough to recognise them when she sees them. Since the Foot are ninjas we can assume that Leo knows that the Foot work for hire (even if the previous movies and cartoons don't have never had the Foot adhere to that particular ninja trait).
