IDW Shop has the second printing for $50. I am sure Amazon will eventually get the second printing
Hey everyone, just FYI for those of you still looking for a 1st printing of this book...
I ordered Volume 1 last week from the IDW Store (https://shop.idwpublishing.com/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-the-ultimate-collection-volume-1.html) specifically because I wanted the 2nd printing for my collection. However, when it arrived, it was the 1st printing (as noted in the legal indicia on the first page). I contacted them about this late on Friday and their response was:
"...since the title never actually went out of stock in the IDW online store, the copies currently going out are the remainder of the first printings that we still had available."
I already returned the one they sent me for exchange but if you don't want to pay high eBay prices it seems you may still be able to get a 1st printing for the $50 cover price (+ shipping) direct from IDW. I have no idea how many 1st printings they still have remaining but I recommend emailing
[email protected] prior to placing your order to ensure they will be able to send you a 1st printing if you order one.
EDIT 5/23: In another twist to this "2nd print" saga, I was contacted yesterday by IDW. They stated that the information initially provided to me was incorrect about a "2nd printing." No official "2nd printing" copies of the TMNT Ultimate Collection Vol. 1 HC exist as all copies printed have "1st printing" in the legal indicia. However, they did sell out of the original run of copies and had more printed but kept it "1st printing." I sure thought that having to re-print copies based on demand would need to be considered a "2nd printing" but maybe not if you keep everything about the book the same. So, whether you buy an originally printed copy vs. a re-printed copy there's no difference between the two and no way to tell which is which.
