Hey all,
Jamming out to the CootS music - for all the campiness, this production had some really catchy, good tunes! "Count On Us" is probably my favorite...I think it's the most memorable, although it could be due to nostalgic favoritism! Although "Walk Straight" and "Pizza Power" are definitely favorites as well...I always liked "Skipping Stones" and "April's Ballad" least, go figure. Skip this.
Which song do you like best?
PS - This is from the track-listing of the album release, not what was performed on stage, cause I'm pretty sure a few songs are missing like Shredder's horrid song...

For me, it's Pizza Power. I just can't get it out of my head as it's so catchy I even can whistle it, followed by the popular "Count on Us", as it really represents what following the ninja code is all about. The Shredder's "I Hate Music" song makes me laugh as it was about destroying music, and many rock fans say that rap is "not music"! :D

I had a tough time picking between Cowabunga and Pizza Power but Pizza Power is just more catchy.
"Walk Straight" I've always loved funk.
Mikey's rap about each Turtle...
That's "Cowabunga", man. :P "Follow Your Heart" is the Mikey ballad in the live show that wasn't on the tape.
Oh, and there are two versions of "Coming Out Of Our Shells" (the acoustic version on the tape & the electric version from the live show) as well as two versions of "Count On Us" (the album version & a promo-only dance mix).

Ah that's right! Post edited, got those two confused!
Yea, that opening to "Pizza Power" has gotta be the catchiest riff goin'...

Walk Straight. Pizza Power is too obvious, and it was used in Turtles In Time. Of course everyone will go for that. Not I.

Just acknowledging that I saw this. :P
It's hard for me to pick just one song... ignoring the two obvious choices of Count on Us and Pizza Power, I've always liked Sing About It and Walk Straight (... and all of the other ones...).

I voted Skipping Stones because when I had the "Coming Out of Their Shells Tour" on cassette (yeah you heard me cassette), I remember listening to it...and I really liked it. I pictured Splinter singing it while the Turtles watched him sing. (I was very young when I saw it)
Anyways, If i could vote for 2, the other would be Pizza Power--and I had no idea it was used for Turtles in Time until I found out here on the forum...small world. :D

I voted "Pizza Power", because it was always my favorite on the album. (I don't care if it's a "predictable" or "obvious" choice; it was my favorite, dammit! :tlol:) Plus, if you heard that instantly recognizable opening riff in an arcade, you knew Turtle-y Goodness was near!

I can't believe they did a sequel, I never ever knew this. When did this happen, and where was it?!
Their sound got way trippy, haha

I hated every single one of these songs, even as a child. It was years before I made the connection between "Pizza Power" and the "Staff" track in Turtles in Time (the SNES version, of course), so I guess that wins. Same melody, just not nearly as badass-sounding as in Turtles in Time. My guess is that I didn't realise they're the same song, because I never finished watching the whole Coming Out of Our Shells, every time I tried to stomach it, which wasn't often.
And for the record, spinach is probably the best pizza topping ever.

Pizza Power is so awesome! I have all the songs on my mobile phone and I listen to that one the most :D I like The Coming Out of Their Shells Tour, by the way.

Pizza Power was the best pizza song ever done, until 19 years later when the Jonas Brothers had a cute pizza song.
Sewer Surfin wasn't on the list. I liked seeing Mikey playing guitar in that number.

I always liked "Count On Us" the best. I have a soft spot for "Tubin'" but it's just a little too corny. "No Treaties" is surprisingly decent for a "fake" song on a "fake" record. Basically, I liked the more songs that were more rock, because they were the best at maintaining the illusion of the record. The rap and dance/funk songs were a little too self-referencing for me; they went a little too far into "Yes, this is all a very bad joke" category. I get that was the entire point of the project, but since some of the songs are actually decent it kind of makes me look down on the others more than I might otherwise.
The stage show was indeed more cheesy than anything ever invented, but it was great for kids. Sadly, the album gets way more hate than it deserves based on the live show being so cheaply-done. I thought it was one of the most clever merchandising gimmicks ever thought up, even if it was a little nonsensical ("They don't even have enough fingers to play their instruments!" a cynic would say. "Donnie modified them you silly bastard, stop thinking so hard!" I would reply). They literally did everything else possible with TMNT back then. An album and concert tour? Why the f*ck NOT? I thought it was awesome.
I still have the program magazine from Pizza Hut. Very glad I never gave in to temptation and cut out that paper Turtles mask on the back of it. I really dug the poster that came with it.

Speaking of TMNT in music, Lil Wayne's new song "Rich as F#%" gives a shout out to Master Splinter in the second verse. :)

I HATE Lil Wayne, but it's funny to see how he puts TMNT references in his songs.

Well, it's a toss-up for me, but I voted for Sing About It. It's a great stand-alone song, and it's one of the better ones on the album. My other choice was No Treaties, though skipping Stones is another favorite from that album. I never got it when I was a kid, but I had a friend who had it, and I had her dub me a copy on a blank cassette. To this day, I still have that cassette- and it still plays! It also has several favorites from all three movie soundtracks on it. I named it my Turtle Power mix, LOL!!! (And I still listen to some of those tunes on my mp3 even now!)

I just now discovered that "Pizza Power" was in the original arcade, and that there even was an arcade of Turtles in Time (thought it was just a SNES game)! Oddly enough tho, I instantly recognized the instrumental music of "Pizza Power" in the SNES version. I guess that's the other reason why I picked that as my fav song in the poll. But it is hard to choose. The concert version of "Coming Out of Our Shells" was good, "No Treaties" was good, and "Count on Us" was VERY good. Btw, anyone ever notice how in the concert version, you can hear "Skipping Stones" background music on Shredder's song, "I Hate Music"?

I chose "Count on Us". It was always one of my favorites. I like "Cowabunga" too, although I feel Raph got shafted in that song and thats why its not my favorite. The other three got cool verses and his is just...blah. He's not even my fave turtle, either...I just feel they could have said more about him there.

Who sung in Pizza Power btw? I know part of it's Raph and Mike, but I swear I hear/saw Donny singing there too.

Count On Us and Pizza Power are the only songs I could tolerate.

Raph sings lead. If Don's in there at all, "they don't even come to the test, dude" must be his only line.

So, I had to go with "Count On Us" because as a kid in first grade me and a bunch of the other guys got to be in a talent show dressed as the Turtles with cardboard shells and instruments and that's the song we were "playing". They even let us wear our costumes all day during class. Kind of an awesome moment.

I saw this musical and it was very funny. Although Baxter is Shredder's servant (He told him master as in FW cartoons), Baxter doesn't receive cruel treatment, all is playing by laugh. Shredder tried to destroy the music.

Interesting how he's just Baxter the human, not the fly. Which is fine by me honestly. I would have loved to see more human-Baxter as Shredder's assistant for longer, instead of becoming the fly right away.

Pizza Power is catchy and I love the version from Turtles in Time
April's Ballad sounds great (fitting since her actress did some broadway work)
Count on Us reminds me of Bon Jovi's songs and I like the guitar work, it's a good conclusion song
Coming out of our shells and No Treaties also have good guitar sounds and vocals.
Walk Straight is good
and....I quite like Cowabunga, I know it's very cheesy but I really like the instrumentals
Skipping Stones is good but the guy playing Splinter doesn't sound like him.
there's also Shredder's I hate music song which would be good if it wasn't so repetitive in the lyrics
Follow your Heart is quite good
if I had to pick a favourite, I guess Count on Us,Cowabunga,Pizza Power,No Treaties,Walk Straight,Follow Your Heart and April's Ballad

There was one song that didn't make it onto the album. I wonder why.
