am i alone in my ♥ of Secret Of the Ooze?

I see so many threads about the first movie, the third movie, the cgi movie and the movie that hasnt happened yet... and it just feels like The Secret of the Ooze gets the least love :( For me, it had the greatest jokes ("ninja pizza?" "Pizza that vanish quickly without trace!") the hottest April (♥ me some Paige Turco- amazingly beautiful!), great music (who doesn't love ninja rap?) and of course, fabulous toys (movie star turtles rock!!!)

now, these are just a few of my favorite things...but Secret of the Ooze is absolutely my #1 favorite... does anyone else call this one theirs???

it's ok, but of the "original trilogy" it's my least favorite. Maybe it's the use of anything but their weapons, maybe it's the lame "secret", or Super Shredder's mutating armor, but I think the most likely reason of all, is just my personal bias to time travel. And Casey Jones. Can't go wrong with Casey Jones.

Funny work tidbit: I was on the phone with a programmer and we were working on a process that failed here. She had me put in the fix and rerun the process. Our interface is rather antiquated...and when I put in the fix and ran it again, it went to "ACTIVE" and my mind went straight to TMNT 2. :P

well...i mean i guess i have a slight grudge against the scepter (that sounds funny) but yes, now that i am older and have had my VNS surgery i can watch the 3rd movie... but it still doesnt do it for me... at least not the way Secret Of The Ooze does.

thats my favorite. its kind of strange. growing up, this was my favorite because it was closer in tone to the caroon i was familiar with. but as ive gotten older, ive learned to appreciate the first one near as much. but nothing beats nostalgia, so ooze still remains on top for me.

good thing abt the 2nd movie is they corrected the turtle's voices...but the storys not as good as the 1st movie...

the 1 ones the best coz everybodys just so in their characters...but the 2nd...not so much...n the 3rd...if u didn't tell me i wouldn't kno it's a tmnt moive...

n for some reason caseys not in the 2nd movie at all... lame...

Anyway, Secret Of The Ooze is a good movie but there was a lot of wasted potential.

It's most definitely my favorite of the trilogy, and I'd even go as far as to say it's one of my favorite movies of all time (nostalgia playing a large role in that). I'm actually kinda surprised the VHS copy I watched as a child hasn't fallen apart due to how many times I've watched it. Even more surprising, it still works to this day.

Only thing I can imagine that would have made it better, would have been the inclusion of Rocksteady and Bebop in the place of Tokka and Rahzar. Even if they still acted like T&R did, and just looked like Rocksteady and Bebop.

I love SOTO despite how terrible it is. I don't even mind Vanilla Ice. There was once a time, as his appearance in this film proves, that he was the hottest thing going in music just as the Turtles were at the height of their popularity. The marketing wizard who decided to combine TMNT with Vanilla Ice must have rolled around naked in piles of money after this film.

I can't support the notion that Paige Turco was a better April than Judith Hoag, though, not even on account of looks, but to each his/her own.

I LOVE Secret of the Ooze. It's my 2nd favorite though after the initial movie. It's refreshing to me depending on what kind of mood I'm in to be able to pop in a fairly serious turtles movie (the first one) or a more silly, light-hearted turtles movie (SotO). The other two are meh..

I love the First movie And The Secret of the Ooze .... The Secret of the Ooze is actually pretty special to me because I can remember the first time I watched it.... Back when I still beleived the Turtles were real...
When the smoke bomb went off in the TCRI building I ran out of the room screaming and crying... I thought the turtles had just DIED!!!! Lol!

Ooze is definitely my favorite of all the movies. I watched this one over and over as a kid and I was just as excited every single time I put it on. The first scene with the turtles, when they jump up and the title appears, still gives me goosebumps, I love that scene! As someone said already in this thread, nothing beats nostalgia! Still love the other two though.

I still laugh when I see people mention how either "Ninja Rap" ended Vanilla Ice's career or the TMNT's popularity, as it still went on for a few more years after this movie. Still, when continued upon the first movie, it does show those flaws we all seem to know, and this isn't the only canon to do so. It's alot like how the OT started with fighting and then became lighter and goofier a bit later on. If you like Season 4 and 5 of the OT after liking the first 3 seasons, you'll clearly enjoy SoTO after enjoying the first movie.

The cartoon was STILL your thing,pannoni? It still is my thing and the best Ninja Turtle media! Probably the biggest diappointment was the lack of weapons usage. It would have been nice to see Mike "do a little chucking now and and then". Its also a shame the film is only 88 minutes. So much happens it seems like it should be a little longer.

I like Ooze. It wasn't as great as the first, of course, but it had its moments. I don't really care that they didn't use their weapons as often because it mirrored the cartoon a little more. It's more comedic and flashy, and that's no bad thing.

Yeah, the majority of the music in the movies is ****. They should have went with the indie punk/new wave soundtrack that Steve Barron wanted. The movies would have been a lot better.

Nahh, SotO is probably my least favorite of the original trilogy. I like 3 better because it's Mikey-based, I think the emotions were more real in 3 than in 2. There's no real emotion in 2, save Don's gripe about being accidents. Plus, if you're gonna do giant mutants and basically make it a costumed 87 toon in fighting style, dialogue, and plot, you might as well have just done Bebop & Rocksteady. Severely dislike Ninja Rap, haha, but I think movie 1 and 3 had sick soundtracks! I'll always appreciate 2 for its nostalgia, but yea, doesn't do it for me...

It's my favorite of the films. Best costumes, best voice acting, and honestly as corny as they are I liked the jokes the best too. It felt like a live action version of the OT and it worked better then the first movie for me. The first one has weird tonal issues because it's trying to deliver the comic by way of the OT. There's a lot of goofy sound effects during the fights and some overly dramatic moments that fall a little flat due to the low budget nature or some bits of poor acting. Love the film but it doesn't work as well. For me if you're gonna go Mirage then go all the way. Cutting it off at the knees did it no favors. Also Corey Feldman is a horrible Donatello.

3 is abysmal. Unwatchable. I haven't seen the film past it's first 20 minutes in about 15 years. It's almost offensively bad. It misses every possible mark.

SOTO had fantastic costumes and special effects, but the jokes and goofiness kinda ruin it. I remember frowning the first time I watched the scene wit the bop bag, and I've frowned every tiem since then. I always hated Vanilla Ice's music, so Ninja Rap cemented the awfulness.
The third movie is horrible on all accounts, other than the samurai armor, and I like the figures. The turtle's faces look like bad stop motion effects when they talk.

I would assume the reason there's so many discussions about TMNT3 is because it sucks. Be thankful there's not threads like that about this movie. I like this movie, but obviously prefer the first. I don't like Don's voice (when I'm used to Corey Feldman), I don't like the end, and it is a lot less gritty, but I understand it was meant for kids moreso than the first was. But yes, I do like it.

The best things about it for me were (in descending order):
-Kevin Nash was in it (even though he jobbed to a bunch of styrofoam logs, he was SUPER-SHREDDER!). That guy's just the best at everything.
-I really liked the box art of the VHS cassette.
-Some of it was pretty funny, mostly due to how ridiculous it was at times, but lots of fun dialog.

Liked it a lot when I saw it the first couple times but it wasn't the follow-up I really wanted; I liked the first movie and wanted more of that universe but we never got any more of that at all. I liked what they were going for in trying to make the tone more like the cartoon at the time, but it makes it sort of dated and silly now. Like, the first movie was good without totally laughing at it, y'know? But it's ok, as its own thing, but since it's in the middle of two other movies it doesn't have a whole lot in common with, it's an odd film when watched with 1 and 3. Nothing from 2 affects 3 at all, to the point where you can watch 1 and 3 only, and it makes no difference, and I kinda prefer sequential films to have more in common, arc-wise, if only a reference here and there. But that's more a failing of the 3rd film, I guess.

It's not un-watchable but it's not the one I pop in if I'm only gonna watch one and not all three.

I re-watched TMNT II fairly recently and my initial opinion didn't really change - I still find it to be "meh," especially considering it's the sequel to the most solid and most meaningful TMNT movie out there - I tend to think of all the others as the equivalent of cinema-filler. Following up greatness with an overall lighter-toned, slapstick adventure isn't exactly the best idea, but the movie has its charm. I still enjoyed it, sure. But it just doesn't hold up to the first. They're not even on the same level.

One thing I really like about TMNT II though is the intro sequence with all the pizza. It totally nails the New York setting, and gets me hungry every time.

It was my favourite when I was much younger. The Secret of the Ooze was everything a kid wanted in a Turtles film. As the years passed, the first film became my favourite for a number of reasons, but TMNT II had my favourite aesthetics by a long shot - Splinter, especially, even though he looks younger than in the first flick. (And his ear grew back?) Plus, all due respect to Corey Feldman, but I like Don's voice when it's a bit more like Secret of the Ooze. Probably why I liked Sam Regel's Donatello so much.

I think my brother and I always felt that they acted more like teenagers in The Secret of the Ooze, which probably had a lot to do with my preference at the time. Now, it's much more important to me that they act like ninja.

for the record- when i posted "who doesnt love ninja rap" i wasnt comparing it to other tmnt related songs... was simply saying that silly music really adds to the fun atmosphere of SOTO which is what makes it so fabulous!
