So I've been rereading Volume 4 (and liking it better so far!) and remembered Peter Laird mentioning that some ideas he and Eastman had for another turtle series found their way into this one. Anyone know which concepts in Volume 4 originated from Eastman & Laird's old ideas? I'm guessing the Utroms revealing themselves to the world as well as Raphael turning into that dinosaur were a couple of ideas, but I don't really know for sure...

Gameraph is the only one that comes to mind right now; it was based on their idea of "Raptor Raph" was the unmade 4th live action film. Laird revealed as much in his Blast from the Past series on his blog.
As for the Utrom thing, I don't know if that was based on a concept created with Eastman's input or something Laird came up with all on his own.
I emailed Peter back in the day when the TMNT was in limbo status before the 2003 toon/toys/merchandise revival. Take in mind that what Peter meant from the start of this thread was that ideas from an intended future TMNT graphic novel he and Kevin had ideas for. Initially it was called "The Masterpiece", which has been mentioned the odd time on these forums. They each had ideas for it and that the TMNT would be in their '50's age wise, 25-30 years into the future. What I asked him was I assumed that Splinters death in the Vol. 4 series was one of the ideas he used from this unmade story? He said yes to me about that. I'd assume the Utrom stuff was Peters idea for Vol. 4. The difference between Kevin and Peter was that Kevin was all for the darker and earthly story settings and Peter was more into the sci-fi/fantasy stories IMO. Hoping maybe we'll see that story one day from those two, maybe IDW can get them to come back for the TMNT 30th anniversary?

Yeah, even if Peter was the man behind the Utrom unveiling (which he probably was), what I'm curious about is if that was one of the ideas they were thinking about using before Volume 4 or if that was thought up specifically for it . The fun thing about knowing which ideas in Vol. 4 were taken from prior concepts, is that we can kind of have a better idea what that next Eastman & Laird project might have looked like, as opposed to when those ideas were integrated into Laird's solo effort in Volume 4. Since 4 was pretty sci-fi centric, I wonder which ideas were contributed by Eastman...?
