With the voice over pedigree of this show, do you think we're in for greatness?

Rob Paulsen returning to the franchise. The oh so zen Greg Cipes seems perfectly cast as Mikey. The incomparable Kevin Michael Richardson as the Shredder. Nolan North as the Krang. Phil LaMarr is our new Baxter. And all of them are lead by the tried and true Andrea Romano as the voice director. Despite gripes about the character models and the fact the show is CG and not traditional 2D animation, does this group of talented professionals give you hope that Nick's TMNT offering is going to kick some serious shell?

EDIT: Also Jim Meskimen and Clancy Brown have some roles in the series as well.

The actual writing of the episodes depends on if the show will be good. Looking over the first drafts of the 4kids scripts on Peter Laird's blog, the series would have been far worse had PL not oversaw the whole thing.

The original cartoon embraced the fact that it was a fun cartoon, and it succeeded for that reason.

The Nick show has pretty big shoes to fill, with two entirely sucessful and well received TMNT cartoons coming before it. The show will likely be popular with kids simply due to airing on Nickelodeon, but I wonder if us older fans will actually be able to enjoy it.

I hope the show is as well written as Avatar or Young Justice...comparable action cartoons....and not like Ultimate Spiderman which most view as terrible.

As psyched as I am to hear the voice actors in these roles, the animation will still play a big role in whether or not the show does well.

I voted no. Voices are probably the least important thing to me. They can all sound fine but if what they're saying is sh*tty, I'm out.

As psyched as I am to have Rob Paulsen voicing a turtle again, and to have Kevin Michael Richardson's talented voice behind the Shredder, I voted maybe. The vast majority of the voice cast is quite talented, and while I'm of the mind that even the worst lines can be gold coming from the right person, I've also seen some really great people have their talent ruined by horrible writing. In the end I'm taking a wait-and-see approach to this show. Though I'm very optimistic, and it'll be surprising if I don't end-up liking this new show.

Only voice's I'm not quite sure about atm are Sean Astin as Raph and Jason Biggs as Leo. When it comes to JB I can't not think about his role in the American Pie movies, and I don't think I've experience any voice acting in the past (if there is any), so I'm not sure what to expect from him. As for Sean Astin, my mind keeps on bringing up his role in 50 First Dates and that lisp he used, making it impossible for me to imagine his normal voice, or any other voice he would/could use, coming out of Raph...

I voted maybe because I feel that the writing is the most important thing. There's no doubt that these actors are talented, and I'm sure they'll do well in their roles. However, for me, it's more about the stories and the animation that will determine whether I like the show or not.

I hope Paulsen does something other than the same two voices he's been doing for yeeeeaaaars.

Weirdly enough. I'm ok with everyone except Paulsen because it's more of the same ish. The three other guys will be something new at the very least.

Writing also trumps all.

Hard to say it has no bearing but even if I loved every voice actor the writing needs to be solid. At the core that's what matters. An animation style I hate I can deal with if the show is engaging and well written. I can even deal with bad voice acting but I need some combination. If the voice acting and the animation is horrible then even good writing can't save it in my book.

From what I've seen the style isn't doing anything for me. That leaves the other two things. I just hope characters like "Fish-face" aren't completely evocative of the imagination that's gone into the series.

Writing is clearly the most crucial toward the success of any cartoon; not only it provides the voice talents a good idea about how to speak their characters, but it also tells the animators what types of effects should be used. You can have great animation but lame effects or action as a result of a weak script, along with a tired voice cast based on flawed, confusing material. Still, while I don't think you'll ever beat the pedigree of the original cartoon and to a degree the 4kids show, if written to be fun like the 80's show, we could be in for some great success coming.

I'd prefer to see animation. I've seen all these guys in other shows. I.E. American Pie Lord of The Rings TMNT Ultimate Spiderman Thundercats etc.

We definately have an amazing group of voice actors on this show, so when it comes to the character's voices, yes I think it will achieve greatness!:tgrin:

Obviously voice acting alone doesn't make a cartoon great, but I admit I'm really excited about the talent that is attached to this show. I don't know if I'll be able to disassociate myself from Rob Paulsen's OT Raphael, but as talented as he is I'm sure he'll do an awesome job with Donatello.

Surprisingly, I'm most excited about Jason Biggs & Sean Astin. I love both of them as actors outside of voice work and I think their inexperience (at voice acting) has the potential to bring more authenticity to the characters...if that makes sense.

The VAs themselves don't sound bad, but the writing is the most important factor to any show's success. If the writing is above average, then yes, I think it'll be wonderful.

I'm going to remain optimistic and say that I'm looking forward to this show, because I think the voice cast is outstanding, and with Andrea Romano doing the voice direction, it's hard to imagine the dialogue being bad enough to make the show unwatchable. I just hope the animation is watchable.

It’s possible. Rob Paulsen is like one of the greatest voice actors out there today. He’ll do great as Donatello.:tsmile: Sean Astin will surprise others with his Raphael, but will not surpass his performance as Samwise Gamgee from the Lord of the Rings films. Jason Biggs may not be the pie guy by the year 2015. He may just become the new Leonardo. Imagine. Who would have predicted Mark Hamill could do an iconic Joker?:tcool: Greg Cipes will be an excellent Michelangelo, and show that after returning as Beast Boy.:tgrin: Mae Whitman will have a new role after Katara, and this could run longer than that one. Kevin Michael Richardson could be a good Shredder, and possibly, find himself doing the voice even more instead of doing Kilowag or Panthro. Hoon Lee is a mystery. Like I say, “We’ll just have to wait and see.”:twink:
