I had forgotten that toKKa had this uploaded:

Not yet....

I had read somewhere that he was going to post it online like he did with issue 31, but that is seeming less a reality seeing its been almost 2 years now since #31 was released.

I find that kinda strange as Peter Laird hasn't said anything about it on his blog.

Hrmm... an issue every 2 years? I'll buy it if he prints it. Mainly because I'm curious as to how P.L. will end volume 4. I know it's been mentioned that it's a digital thing... I just really want to see it in print.

He put up issue #31 on his blog a while back but it was never printed. He'll do the same for this one.

I'm a sucker for print. I'm going to peruse his blog and find #31. I want to be caught up in case #32 actually is finished and released by next week. It's been a while since I've thought about volume 4 honestly. I'm glad I saw this thread.

He has. In his last Q&A. He said it may be up by the end of the year, but didn't seem overly optimistic about it.

Well if Eric Talbot is finishing inks on #32 by next week, then we probably will see it soon.

I wonder why the change?

I am still hoping within the coming year PL suddenly undergoes a burst of nostalgia after seeing the IDW, Nick and new movie TMNT stuff fully emerging and decide to finish up Vol. 4.

Fellow turtles fans rock! (I'm that guy BTW, although I barely ever use thetechnodromeforums) I just have no clue as to why Mirage haven't printed #31 in the 100-copy form. They can't be short of money after that 60 million dollars! Andrew, does PL sound optimistic about any comic
nowadays? :tgrumble: Cybercubed; I agree entirely. And with all the success the IDW series is getting, it would make sense to follow in their footsteps and finish Volume 4. Although I can't wait to see the Mike Dooney cover for #32! BTW, here is the pencilled version of Jim Lawson's cover:

By this point I imagine he's so sick of "When's Vol. 4 gonna be finished?" questions that he may just quit out of spite.

I'm more than content to stop badgering the man and let him release his comic at his leisure.

I agree. I would like it finished as much as the next person. But give him a break, he's trying to chill.

I think we just need to remember that this is all being done free of charge. We're not buying anything.

So pesturing him about "when we're gonna get our free comics" doesn't reflect too well on the individual.

Hard to say if Mirage will start print any new comics because there in a ramping down phase.

But there was this paragraph on there website:

"So what does the future hold? Truth is, we don't know. Peter Laird did maintain the right to print up to 18 TMNT comics (set in the Mirage universe) per year, so at some point he may decide to dive back into the turbulent waters of the small press comics industry and Mirage will resume publishing a regular Turtles comic. Key word in that sentence being "may," since Peter is still decompressing from the past 25 years of cah-razee TMNT bidness and isn't exactly sure what he wants to do in the future - but he does know he has no immediate plans to publish comics. Thus only time will tell what will become of Mirage and its relationship with the Turtles via the funny book world."

True, but #32 has already been "done" for a while, it just needs to be finishing inking. And apparently someone found out its been inked by next week or so.

I wouldn't be surprised if PL posts it online in the next few weeks. Asking him to do a whole issue from scratch on the other hand obviously won't happen for some time.

I wonder if Mike Dooney is even gonna bother painting the cover of #32 (or has he done it long ago)? Like if Eric Talbot is actually inking it now. I mean in the end are we to assume that the staff are getting paid for this last bit of work on this issue? It could mean that in the end too. How many people are gonna do things for free? I'm assuming that Jim Lawson has been paid already since this was done in 2009 or 2010. I'm also wondering if Peter will or may never print an issue again, can a fan publication of #31 and #32 be done? I mean if the pdfs are out there of #31, can it be assembled and printed right? As long as theres no money being made, can this be done? Just wondering?

Jim Lawson was paid for all his work on Volume 4, even these last two issues I imagine. What makes you think otherwise?

Also Mirage may print these down the road, and even if they don't I am sure IDW will collect them when they get up to Volume 4 collections.

I would really like to see a source or something that can confirm the inking is being done this week. To me it sounds like a wild rumor... Either way it's not our decision on when it should be released.

The really question is: if you were Peter Laird what would you do? The guys been publishing these things for a long time. If I were him I'd probably make them as a hobby not a job and I get that. But the guy needs to get that he kid of left his fans hanging.

No it wasn't! It was this same account, CommandoJamie7 on the IDW Board. The fact of the matter is that I posted it, it's online for everyone to see, so trying to grab all the praise in a valiant effort to look good isn't going to work. I think there is/was a missunderstanding between us, I just read your post and tried to get into the subject matter again, but it was too long ao and I seem to be unable at the moment to recollect what my comment was about, but I think I was just trying t socialize with you since I was commenting on the same thing over at the idw boards apparently..if that's what I meant then yes, I picked the wrong words but as I just wrote too much time has passed since then /too unimportant right now that I cannot recollect it at the moment.

I wasn't trying to get my name behind someone else's work(what for?), so sorry if that bothered you in any way....
no harm intended, compadre!

I'm skeptical about the "issue being inked" thing... we were told like 2+ years ago that both 31 and 32 were finished, inked and just had to be toned up a bit. We got 31, but not 32.

It turns out that Eric Talbot didn't get very far with the inking, and he has handed the pages over to Jim Lawson!

Jim Lawson -

If you’ve followed me on FB, you already know about TMNT issue 32 and the trials and tribulations regarding that book. Well, I have an update.
This past Tuesday, Eric handed me the original pages and basically said that if I wanted to finis
h inking them, to go ahead- that he wasn’t able to.
This was exciting news to me- I’ve had a little obsession about this issue, and the fact that that it was done, but never finished, always kind of bothered me. I don’t blame anybody, and getting it out there might not make any difference at all, however I’m pretty certain some of the old Mirage fans might appreciate this small furtherance in the TMNT series 4 saga.
So- since earlier this week, I’ve been noodling on the pages, with the ultimate goal (naturally) of finishing it. The few pages that I’ve done, I’m pretty happy with however I must admit that very often, when you have 2 inkers on the same book, the results are a little un-unified. Not sure that’s a word, but you know what I mean- the art doesn’t really look cohesive. I do notice this on the done pages, but hopefully, it won’t detract from the finished book. Maybe I’ll post a completed page in the near future.
Anyways, I thought that this might be of some interest. The page posted is from 32, and shows the degree of inking already done. There are some pages with much more, and perhaps a few with a little less, but I think it provides a little inside glimpse inside the backstory of this issue.

Jim Lawson also says that Michael Dooney has an unfinished cover in the works. The only problem is that Peter Laird has approved of Jim's inking as the official version, but to get the completed issue, Peter Laird would have to do the toning and lettering first, and he won't be doing so for a while.

Actually Powder, in their defense what you are referring to was my post from the other day. It's a completely different thread. Which they could probably be merged... Would still like to find a final cover for #31 though... With logos and all that jazz...
