View Full Version : Hi, I'm new.
Kameko

So, I'm new to the Technodrome, and more or less clueless about the place, so if I sound like an idiot, now you know why.
Yes, I'm aware that there are other Kamkekos floating around out there, but I created my character long before I started exloring other fansites, so get over it. I'm not changing my name. And the other Kamekos I've come across are completely different characters from me, so I don't really think it's a big deal.
Anywho, if you want to know more about me, visit my site:
http://www.geocities.com/puckworld_or_bust/tmnt/mahole.html
Just thought I'd, y'know, introduce myself. So: Hi!

um, oops. wrong link. try this:

that should work. *walks off grumbling something about Donny's insistence that HTML is not all that complicated*

Hi Kameko! Let me be the first to welcome you to the Technodrome forums! I'm the resident blue mutant turtle, Azure. I hope you enjoy your stay. Don't be shy to post! Oh, and please be on the look out for some of the members here...
*whispers*
They're crazy, I tell ya!
*glomps the newbie* Hiya and welcome. Nice site, I look forward to the fan fics.
Ignore the blue Turtle! *whispers* He's just as crazy as the rest of us.
I'm Kali BTW, resident moderator and psycho-Raph fan.

Welcome, Kameko! Let me also introduce myself. I am Deskjet Shredder (despite my nick, I'm a girl ). And I don't consider myself crazy yet (I'll get mad after posting my 1000th message but I hope it won't happen soon )

Hello Kameko-san! I'll believe you, if you say you are not related to Klork then. ;p
You'll find out I'm actually one of the boring, elderly members that ruins the crazy fun for everyone. But don't let that deter you or anything!
Don: But HTML is easy, Kameko, after you compare it to scripts like VRML, Perl, Java, Visual Basic, Visual C++ ...

Well, hi to all of you too. And Azure, i think I've been to your site. But considering how many sites there are out there, I sould be wrong. Interesting, though, I've never heard of a blue turltle. hmm...then again, most people have never heard of 5-foot talking turtles either...

Where'd you get that I'm a Leo fan? I mean, I am, I just don't remember saying anything about it. hmmm...oh, well.
And about brothers: *glances at Donny* You should try having FOUR!

04-16-2002, 05:42 PM
Ah, thank you for your kind words, Kameko! A Leo fan, eh? I'm sure Nikki will be pleased to hear that
Kameko
04-16-2002, 05:46 PM
Yeah, Leo can be kind of a pain sometimes ("No, no! Kameko, you can do better than that! ") But he's pretty cool for an older brother. Actually, they all are. (Even Raph, when he's not in a bad mood...)
And, uh, who's Nikki?
Machias Banshee
04-16-2002, 05:49 PM

Yeah, I write fanfics. My main problem is that I don't have the patience to sit down and type-up the darn things up. *sigh* I have nearly five stories (three TMNT, one MD:TAS, and one X-Men) that are almost ready to go up. Actually, the X-men one and one of the TMNT ones are ready to go. (I just need self-discipline!)

Machias Banshee
04-20-2002, 07:05 PM
Ack! I'm gonna do that too!
I finally finished my outline for the story, and should be writing by tomorrow, if the great turtle gods and College weevils allow me...
Ooh, outlines. Never liked those. I just write whatever comes to me. Which would explain how I end up writing myself into a wall so often.
Machias Banshee
04-20-2002, 07:17 PM
Well, this is the first time i've used outlines for a story. In my other ones, i usually just write what i 'see'. In these stories, i had to write themdown to keep track of ideas, evil plans, dirty tricks, etc....
If i could, i'd do them pictoral style...but if i can type them down, that'll give readers more chaces to use their imaginations, and i think it would be better that way.
Yeah, I know how that is. I use notes sometimes if I get a really good idea while I'm in the middle of another story. I used to try writing two stories at once. Bad idea, I end up not really concentrating on either one. There are many stories that I had up in my "Coming Soon" section that I just had to take down because I lost whatever had made me want to write that.
Machias Banshee
04-20-2002, 07:41 PM
hmmm....I really want to get these two stories done. Even if it takes me all summer to do it, i'm gonna get them done. I am determined to write my stories, no matter what!

 Grrr...What, I gotta dress all cutesy or sexy to look like a girl? *gags* Geez, you try growing up with four brothers and no mom or sisters, and see how "girly" you turn out.
And I happen to be darn proud of being a tom-boy! *sticks toungue out at HorseTechi and Machias*
Long hair? Not me, not ever. I mean, for one thing, I'm a ninja (er, kunoichi -- I don't really like that word though...don't know why) and for another thing, I live in a freakin' sewer. I mean, how would you like to try and take care of long hair when you live down here?
And like I said, it's sort of a preliminary drawing -- not the finished product.
Hmmm...If that doesn't work, try this, it's a web doll I made of Kameko. (Warning: I completely lack artistic talent, so viewer discretion is advised)

Your drawing rocks...you kind of remind me of Jubilee from the xmen... I guess it's 'cos of the long coat... !
Love the doll, too. I'm awed by anyone who can do one of those doll as mine always end up a disaster!

LOL! My, we are defensive, aren't we, Kameko? Remind me to never be in the same room with both you and Raph. I like the tom boy look, I'm sitting here in jeans and a tank top, and my over shirt is tied around my waist.
Long hair in the sewers? Never thought of that. But I didn't mean long so much as "down". How do you get your hair to stay like that? *shrugs* And I'm a kunoichi (and they are technically different fighting styles, so you are most likely a ninja and don't need to used the term) with long hair, and I just tie it up. Eh, to each their own, it's still a nice picture. And the doll is cute too.
Kameko
04-23-2002, 10:33 AM
Oh, I get it. the Kunoichi/ninja thing was getting on my nerves, mostly because I couldn't get a straight definition anywhere. *sigh*
Loolaa: Yeah, I really like Jubilee -- I think that's where I got the idea for Kameko's hair  And as for the doll, I was rather pleased with how it turned out, 'cept for the fact that I don't think I could do decent shading if my life depended on it.
Kali:
(((~ Kameko's hair may end up a little different as my friend and I work on her appearance. Just a note  ~)))
The ninja/kunoichi thing has confused many people. Kunoichi aren't simply female ninja, it's a whole separate martial art form similar to ninjutsu. As much as we'd love to say men and women are equal, they aren't. Women are built, move, and think differently from men, and therefore fight differently. Women can practice ninjutsu, but kunoichi-jutsu takes advantage of feminine strengths.
Sorry, I'm babbling now.
Kameko
04-23-2002, 10:57 AM
Ahhh... i see. Personally, I prefer ninjitsu. I'm good at it.
I like it too, but I'm told I have talent for kunoichi-jutsu.
Sensei: "Okay, what you do is try and look innocent. Get him to think you're weak."
Me: "Uh huh."
Sensei: "Then stab him in the stomach."
Me: "I can do that!"
This has been a dramatization.
Kameko
04-23-2002, 11:16 AM

When i said you looked like one of my college buddies, i meant my firend Jenni. She looks very similar to that.
And hey, having no sisters is a biggie over in this household too...I have three brothers. I feel your pain, trust me...
I Hate wearing a lot of feminine junk, i have NEVER worn makeup, and I like to dress semi-eighties style...
tomboys of the world unite!
I kinda prefer the feminine side of tomboy. I mean I wear mostly guys clothes, but I wear girls clothes too, usually mixing and matching. I like painting my nails and wearing makeup sometimes, but not always.
Loolaa
04-23-2002, 02:04 PM
Wow Kali!! You're a mine of information!! I'd always just assumed kunoichi just to be female ninja.. (That'll teach me to do research!) Cool.
My character MinLan is Chinese and does kung fu so I don't have to worry about that, anyway...
As for dressing, I usually dress boyish (with long hair!), but have girly modes once in a blue moon.

I wear whatever's handy, most of the time. Kinda whatever's clean. You'd be amazed at the stuff you can find at garage sales, though. T-shirts with old-school cartoon characters, movie characters, rock stars... *sigh* I love eighties stuff!
And I NEVER wear make-up. And it is a very rare occasion that i even paint my nails, and I usually only do that when I'm so bored I can't stand it. :dead:
I don't know everything, I just read a lot. I think ninjutsu is very interesting, so I got a few books on it.
I love shopping at garage sales. People throw out some really good stuff sometimes. I have to be careful though, this one shiney, glittery dress caught my eye. It was cheap and it fits really well, but I never get to wear it! Got a really nice jean jacket for a quarter once.

04-24-2002, 05:37 PM
*heheh* I was just teasing about the "so who's the dude" remark ona mutual level. I am living proof of a tomboy myself, since my mom was kind of lazy in showing me how to be a proper girl. When my bro and I used to be kids (I'm sure you've heard this too), strnagers would tell my Dad he's got two nice sons. I also prefered to have short hair, no makeup, jeans-Tshirt, and my chest is also rather flat.
Until I started working in an office. Now I have to dress up (I still don't wear make-up) and do pretty things with my hair. *sai*
Saisei
04-24-2002, 05:49 PM
I'm a tomboy cause of the fact that I like the activities that guys normally like more than girls. In the clothes department though, I'm pretty much in between. I usually stick to jeans and a tank top, hair pulled up in a ponytail, and an occasional necklace. I'm not much for makeup, either. I guess I just like being casual.
Machias Banshee
04-24-2002, 07:59 PM
Sounds good to me. I kinda get like that too...why do girls spend five hours doing makeup that's gonna smudge off in half an hour?!
Saisei
04-24-2002, 08:16 PM
I ask myself the same thing. Who wants to complicate life more than it already is? It's got to be a plus if you feel good about yourself when ya look in the mirror as soon as you get out of bed (ignoring the fact that your hair is strewn about everywhich way, that is...) But that's just my opinion.
But my hair looks good when I wake up. It's after I run a brush through it and it goes all straight and flat that it looks dull. Makeup is fun every now and then, but I'd never wear it on a daily basis. Heh heh, nail polish gets chewed off in less than a day.
One "girly" thing I can't live without is my baby turtle pinkie ring. I wear it all the time.
Loolaa

Most of the time, anyway. Some mornings I hear the basic cracks about looking like a female, Japanese version of Einstein, and occasionally I even get asked if I stuck my finger in a light socket. *sigh* Guys can be such morons.

Yah, my naturally curly hair is also a mess in the morning, lemme tell yah! I have to take a shower or wet it down - something! - for it to loose the frayed fuzzy look. *sai* I also hate high humidity days. Haven't found the hair gel yet that'll keep it from frizzing out. (and people think having curly hair is a blessing. Hah!)

I hate humid days! My hair just Loves to go all frizzy on me. It's wicked long and wicked thick. It takes me ten minutes to brush it all, and even then, its hard to do stuff with it other that ponytails and braids. Heh, whenever my hair is cut to a certain length, it stands on end, and i look like a dandilion fluff...

Your hair sound just like mine it's a nightmare to control. If I cut it short, I look like a mushroom and if I keep it long it becomes totally ridiculous to maintain. I have to trap it in a pony tail or plaits.

If I can afford gel, I'll use it to tame my frizz, but most of the time I just let it go. I mean, I live in a sewer, who'm I tryin' to impress? My brothers? Yeah, right.
*blinks* I will never again complain about how my hair will never hold a curl.
My nails on the other hand... Damn, that's the second time I scratched myself today.

Do you have long nails? Mine are currently getting difficult to deal with. Actually broke skin on my arm by accident.

Ouch. No, I'm a terrible nail-biter.

I bite my nails too. I hear they're a good source of protein...
loolaa
I used to bite my nails. I got that bitter nail polish, but it didn't work. I didn't stop biting until I saw some woman in a movie scratch a guy's face up. (It was fake, I know, but still...) That's when I figured out that long nails were useful for some things. Like opening soda cans, breaking plastic seals on jars, and can be used as weapons. Of course, like any potential weapon, you must be careful. *looks down at the big red welt on her arm* Very careful.

Nngh...? And are your nails are the natuarlly long kind, Kali?
Heh.. oh well, that's another thing I can't stand being long. I'm not a nail biter, but since I worked on a horse farm... long nails are a 'no go'. I also would have a hard time trying to type very fast if nails were in the way.
Now I 100% dispise the idea of getting acrylics after a 20/20 feature of how they use an illegal chemcial that can make you loose your natural nails completely.
Whatever floats yer boat, as they say!

Acrylics are a pain. I grow out my nails naturally, although I finally trimmed them today. Typing and some other things do get awkward, so I try not to let them get too long.

wow... must have good nails then. My are too thin/floppy like when they get long.
Heh, I guess you can call me a chronic "nail clipper"... always cutting them short the minute the start looking any longer than one milimeter. Never have worry about a chipped nail that way!
Lucky. I have to carry an emery board around with me. But I still like my long nails. *runs them down a chalk board*

"The ninja/kunoichi thing has confused many people. "
Im sorry, but i actually DO know about ninja, ninpo, and ninjutsu.... and this post i quoted is big load of poppycock. You will very easily notice that ninpo taijutsu utilized natural relanxed body movement without an emphasis on muscular strength or prowess. A kunoichi would study almost identical martial arts as a male ninja operative.

no problem.
NINPO IKKAN!!!
Jerk.
Look, I study ninjutsu too, and I do have my facts together. Maybe in your style they teach men and women the same way, but I don't personally agree with that idea. Yes, the martial arts aspects of ninjutsu were similar for men and women, but traditionally, women were trained to be spies, to appear innocent and weak, then use that to their advantage. They were psychological fighters more than physical, and even had weapons especially made for their use.
I'm not saying that the styles were vastly different, just that there were specific elements unique to each. And today, in our "equality based" society, men and woman are trained the same way, for better or worse.
heretic888
04-15-2003, 04:47 PM
Oh, I didn't notice this before.
Kali, which 'style' of ninjutsu do you study?? Bujinkan?? Genbukan?? Jinenkan??
And, traditionally, the only difference in how men and women were taught would be in emphasis not in content. They would still learn largely the same weaponry and kata and waza. And the same combat principles would be emphasized.
It is not correct to call what the women studied 'kunoichijutsu' as it was not actually a separate art. The kunoichi simply took the aspects of ninjutsu that were more important to their line of work and focused on them.
Ninpo Ikkan.
You realize that you just resurrected this thread just to get an answer of "I don't know", don't you?
Honestly, there is no style I study. "Jane of all trades, master of none". At the moment I see the martial arts through the eyes of a writer, an artist, not a practitioner. All I understand is that I don't understand everything about ninjutsu and related subjects, as you've so wonderfully pointed out on multiple occasions. What I do know is... unexplainable in this context, it would be like trying to describe an emotion. I deal in essence, not detail.
When I started learning about ninjutsu, I didn't have the time or resources to do much else with it. And now that I do, I've got medical problems to deal with. But honestly, and don't take this the wrong way, you aren't exactly inspiring me to take up the art.
