That's awesome! Wonder how they are going to tie that into the current universe....Seems like Fugitoid/Professor HoneyCutt (if that's indeed who he is here) will somehow be tied to wherever Krang is from, perhaps?

Fugitoid probably built the teleportal device that Krang is using to go from Earth to the Neutrino planet.

I was about to say.
In the past, the Fugitoid's whole deal was "they're always after me lucky teleportal!"
But in IDW, the villains already have one. So now what's he going to be fugitoiding about?

Fugitoid may be already held prisoner somewhere in Burnow Island. Would be interesting to see the Turtles break into the compound, stumble upon him, and try to take him away to safety as the Rock Soldiers come after him.

That's cover B and it doesn't say fugitoid on it. He may not be the title character in this issue. Still cool to see him.

Awesome. I miss the old design already, but I have to admit that the new one is not bad at all. Can't wait to read it.

Bobby Curnow already confirmed this on the IDW forums and the letter section of #10. Besides, why would he be on the cover of someone else's solo issue?

I was afraid he wouldn't show up, he's not technically a tmnt character, he's just mirage and you know copyright crap. I'm glad he's appearing and getting his own issue thought. And he could have been an instrumental character in someone else's story, I mean it wouldn't be surprising if they put alopex on Raphaels variant.

Seconded! Only it's "me lucky transmat!" :D
"Silly Triceratons, Transmats are for Utroms and mutant turtles."
Since the main villain already has a transmat, as previously mentioned, maybe he himself is the weapon that the Triceratons, the Federation or villains-of-the-month are seeking? Either way, his role might mean the Triceratons can finally show up, so let us hope. (Though, if Krang wanted him, as well, would be equally awesome.)

He may have started off that way, but as Laird mentioned on his blog at some point, Fugitoid has become too intertwined within the pages of TMNT and was sold along with the turtles in 2009.
That's not a bad point about Alopex, but I would still wager that she would only appear alongside Raphael, if it was a Raphael issue. Still, anything's possible with variants...
I love the new design, by the way! Can't wait to see Petersen's rendition!

I think its good how his new design seems fresh yet he's still recognizable as the Fugitoid rather than looking like any other generic robot.

I also really like the search light for the cover. Simple, but very effective. Feels like a standard Fugitoid pose, but I don't think it's ever actually been done before.

Knowing that Fugitoid is Peter Laird's favortie non-turtle I asked him his thoughts on the design via his TMNT Blog. This is what he had to say:

Happy they're continuing the microseries issues. Hope they keep it up. I've always found the Fugitoid rather bland, but maybe IDW will be able to change that for me! :)

The new design looks pretty cool to me... Although to give him more of that fugitoid look... They shoulve given him round eyes. Other than that it looks fine to me. And i wonder how theyll tie him into the story. Krang perhaps? Looking forward to it.

I was thinking it makes him look a little too 80s. The original Fugitoid's design was really timeless.

I really like the new design! I can't wait for this issue! I was really hoping that my namesake would make it into this series. And I'm not surprised that Peter Laird isn't down with it. Maybe I'm wrong, but it always seems that if he wasn't involved with something or it deviates from his vision, he doesn't care for it. Again, just the impression I get from Pete.

That's always been true. The only reason he accepted the changes in the 4kids cartoon is he was working with the writers on it.

I'm a mirage fan. I don't recognise obscure cartoon characters at first sight.
...the covers for Fugitoid.
FYI - Due to an issue with the normal printing company that IDW uses, Fugitoid will now be released 1 or 2 weeks earlier than planned (either September 12 or 19), which means it will be out before TMNT #14 is released. IDW had intended to have #14 be released prior to Fugitoid but, unfortunately, this could not happen. Therefore, reading Fugitoid before #14 will spoil a minor “surprise” that was intended to be revealed first in #14. Reading Fugitoid before #14 will not create any story continuity confusion but it will spoil the storytelling design originally intended by IDW.

Hey Venom, I don't think Jetpack is planning to do a variant for any of the ongoing new IDW Micro-series issues. However, if the original Fugitoid from Mirage gets re-printed as a "Color Classic" then Jetpack will likely do a variant.
