"The heroes on the half shell are getting put on the shelf indefinitely.
Paramount has pulled the plug on the Jonathan Liebesman-helmed reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, pushing its release back indefinitely... and, no, it's not for 3D post-conversion and/or more Channing Tatum.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Paramount, already gun shy with the delays the studio is facing with G.I. JOE: RETALIATION and WORLD WAR Z, is willing to take its time with NINJA TURTLES in order to iron out what it feels are script problems. Rather than rush it out there in order to make its December 2013 release date and potentially damage the future of the franchise with a poor showing, Paramount is learning their lesson of putting forth a subpar product that may come back to bite them in the ass later. Better late than never.
In the meantime, Platinum Dunes will have to chill with the reboot, and, once the script is ready to go, NINJA TURTLES will move forward again... but when that will be is right now anyone's guess."

NINJA TURTLES PUSHED BACK TO MAY 2014
Another week, and another Paramount movie in trouble. First there was G.I. Joe 2‘s plot problems leading to reshoots and a release date delay. Then there was World War Z‘s problematic production and required reshoots and third act revision. Now it’s the Michael Bay-produced Ninja Turtles reboot. Paramount says it has pushed back the pic’s start date by 10 weeks in order to cut the budget $10M to $20M down to $125M. That means the release date also will push back: from Christmas 2013 to May 16, 2014. Initially, Paramount hired the Iron Man writing team of Art Marcum and Matt Holloway for close to $1 million to revamp Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a fast-tracked live action feature film to be released in summer 2012. At the time, the studio was looking at this as its next huge franchise like Transformers. Then the Jonathan Liebesman-directed live action-CGI combo’s release date was pushed to Christmas 2013. Now Paramount tells me it’s pushed again to May 16th, 2014 — presuming that the studio’s cost target is achieved.

So, mabey they were going to be aliens after all? or it could of been some thing else. (I doubt they were aliens in the first place.) What are your guy's thoughts on this.
The only problem is that May 2014 is already bursting at the seams with big releases, including the Planet of the Apes sequel, the Spider-Man sequel and an as-yes-unrevealed Marvel Studios film. Interesting that Deadline says the budget is 125 million. Another article over at the Hollywood Reporter describes the film as being "effects heavy". Really hoping it is just temporary.
Basically, Paramount have got problems. I don't think anyone can deny that.

Maybe Bay's name will detach itself from this by the time it comes back.
And the Nicktoon will decide if the world is ready for more TMNT right now.

After reading the thread I'm glad they still plan on releasing the movie. The thread title made me almost go bonkers! I guess I'm fine with it in that they want to make it as good as they feel it can be. We already love the characters that are going to be in this movie so the script is the most important thing. I guess I can wait a little longer....again as long as it's getting made.
Maybe this is for the better. I always said that the summer is better suited for this type of film. This way it can get the exposure of a real summer blockbuster. I’m just a little nervous, though, because after having looked at the release schedule for 2014, May 16th is the same release date as the unrevealed Marvel Studios film. Many people think it will either be Doctor Strange, Ant-Man or Black Panther. Could any of them beat out the Ninja Turtles?
In short, I don't think we should all cry just yet. This could work out well. :)
Hopefully Michael Bay will give an update on his website like before.

Ironing out the script is good news, let's not make this an effects-driven brainless bit of action shlock, let's have a story with heart and purpose, something missing from every brand-based movie nowadays.

That was my thought when I saw the news. Its good they are taking notice of the backlash on the alien concept. The question of how much profit it would make as well with this backlash and with Turtlemania is in the past played into the script rewrite after TMNT without criticism got just $60 million. It all comes down to how much money can be made.
Hm, oh well. As long as it makes for a good movie, I don't mind.
Yep. This will hopefully allow more time to flesh out a more decent product.

My initial reaction was anger, but if they really are pushing it back to ensure the end product isn't a rushed piece of shell, than I'm ok with this. The Christmas release date seemed kinda weird anyways. I just hope that whenever they do release it allows it to shine.
May 2014 might not be the best time to release this movie, what with the multitude of other big name movies set for that month...If they stick with that, I'll see it on opening day, and wait at least a week before seeing any other big name movies. If the movie is actually enjoyable, which I hope it is, I'll probably see it multiple times too.
Providing Paramount stick to the May 2014 date (hope they will), I’m not really that bothered by this, thinking about it some more. Being from England, it was originally scheduled to come out in February 2014 over here anyway. So, for me, the delay is only three months. I bet US fans are pissed, though.
This is the release schedule for May 2014 (from boxofficemojo.com):
• The Amazing Spider-Man #2 (3D) (Sony) - 5/2
• Marvel Untitled 1 (BV) - 5/16 - *and now Ninja Turtles*
• Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (Fox) - 5/23
• Pixels (Sony) - 5/23
• The Good Dinosaur (BV) - 5/30
Looking at it some more, June and July might actually be a better bet, because those two months are still virtually empty.

But they do care about making money. When there is almost unanimous hate surrounding a project, the profitibilty of it decreases.

This. I'm all for anything that causes this creative team to take a step back and re-think whatever dumb decisions they were inevitably going to make (and presumably already had) regarding this film.
Of course, all the garbage movie news blogs are using the word "indefinite" to describe this move; even though the three movie websites that are 100% official (Variety, Deadline Hollywood, Hollywood Reporter) all report that this is simply a delay, and not an indefinite hold. This is from Variety's article on the matter:
Paramount Pictures has shut down pre-production on its reboot of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and moved its release date to May 16, 2014, the latest in a string of pics the studio has delayed in recent months.
Sources say "Turtles" was pushed because the filmmakers and studio felt they wouldn't be ready for the October shoot date. Paramount had no comment.
The shutdown is not indefinite and the plan is to work on the script over the next couple of weeks in order to beef up the material and bring the budget down slightly.

This will also ensure that the entire second season of the Nick Toon will air at this point before the movie's release, which is plenty of time for a new round of fans to join in for this project. All of a sudden, it seems like the sky is the limit once again, and I laughed when I saw that "what's next, will the toys be cancelled?" after seeing that some are already on eBay!

It's pretty amusing to me the number of people who seem to think this is somehow indicative of Paramount buckling to all the backlash about the aliens thing. Please.
It could be being pushed back for a hundred different reasons, but absolutely none of them include "Because the Technodrome fans are mad about the aliens."
As we all know Deadline Hollywood is a legit website that has a direct link with news in Hollywood. The comments section beneath each story can be used by anyone, and is very often used by people who work in some capacity in the industry. Anyway, in the comments section for this story someone wrote this:
The first half of the script is terrific, just adult enough for those of us who grew up with the original cartoon, but friendly enough for tweens. But when the Turtles and Casey get back to NYC and the final act begins, with a sort of a “Fringe” twist, it’s a total mess. I really hope they make a more grounded act 3, while keeping the tone of the first two acts.
There’s no reason to disbelieve this. What do they mean by “Fringe” twist? I’ve never watched it.
There’s no reason to disbelieve this.
NO REASON, you say?! Well, you've convinced me! I believe in random faceless internet person!
NO REASON, you say?! Well, you've convinced me! I believe in random faceless internet person!
Cynicism aside, Deadline isn't just your run-of-the-mill movie blog website. People who work in the industry are constantly making posts there. I've read many things that people have left in the comments section before that turned out to be legit. If you don't believe, though, that's fair enough. You don't have to be so abrasive.

A rush job? Turtles Part 5 has officially been in pre-production since about 2009. And look how well Turtles Part 4's 13 year pre-production went... come 2007, we got a stillborn, toothless fart with a bunch of monsters and nonsense. I would put absolutely no faith in "more time" resulting in a better product... it just gives the financiers more time to figure out how to better align the toy placement and merchandising angles. This movie is in no way, shape, or form the labor of love by someone wanting to bring their vision of their definitive Turtles movie to light... it's just a studio who has acquired the rights to TMNT hiring guns and figuring out the best ways and best angles to maximize revenue on their investment. There will be focus groups, multiple "writing teams," and all sorts of nonsense that goes into productions like these.
Sorry if I sound cynical, but it's true.

It probably has more to do with wanting to wait and ride whatever kid wave results from the new cartoon. Sort of letting that "set" first without being premature, and then doing the movie... similar to how the first movie rode the Fred Wolf cartoon wave. Whether or not the movie tonally has anything to do with the new cartoon is irrelevant.
But I suspect the problems pushing back the movie are much simpler, and more down to brass taxes.
Maybe some 20 year olds might check out the IDW comics too after seeing the movie.
Or pick up some IDW Mirage trades. In either case it's a win, so whatever.

A lot of what Andrew said is ringing true. I also almost promise that it has a lot to do with toys. They want to make sure that there's a large gap between the cartoon toys coming out, and the movie toys coming out, so everything sells as much as possible. Plus the project apparently just isn't going very well.
I wouldn't bet on that new release date being set in stone, either, I wouldn't be shocked to see it get pushed back even further. If that one doesn't, one of the other "big" movies opening will open later around 4th of July. TMNT will never even try that, because the franchise as it stands likely wouldn't draw big against whatever CGI explosion movies come out in any given summer.
I predict it opens sometime around late-May or early-June 2014, if it comes out in 2014 at all. I can see it getting pushed back a whole year. Critics will call it juvenile and write reviews where they mix up references to the old cartoons and the first movie. Fans will have mixed feelings. Andrew will hate it. I didn't need my "Eye Of Kreskin" for that one. :P

My take is, Paramount wants this movie to make it's money (of course, no duh, right?)
But what I mean is, they have 2 movies that are going through total Nightmares of production, called GI Joe 2 and World War Z.
*GI Joe 2 - A film that was supposed to be released in June, and then only a few weeks from release they decide to push the film about 9 months back, add more 'Channing Tatum' because he died in the opening of the flick and he's 'now more popular' thanks to flicks like The Vow & 21 Jump Street, as well as 3D conversion...so not only do you have the mucho dinero put into the production, you ALSO have all that $ spent on advertising (like the Super Bowl ads, and such...weirdly enough I have friends who STILL sees ads that the flick's coming out in June) as well as reshooting AND the 3D conversion...definitely a film that is in serious trouble financially (and they're Begging for big Box Office overseas).
*World War Z -The budget is up to $170 million. Though the principal shoot is long done, Paramount just tapped “Prometheus” screenwriter Damon Lindelof to rewrite the last act of the movie, which will require reshoots.
About 7 Weeks of reshoots...
And I think Paramount will be dealing with these Runaway Projects...along for fear of them (or Ninja Turtles) becoming just like how Universal is hurting from the Mega-flop "Battleship", as well as Disney's Mega-flop "John Carter", even Warner Bros. "Dark Shadows" didn't do that well, and that was a $150 million production.
And plus, the Ninja Turtles movie was going to come out on Christmas...now, Christmas?? Who goes to the movies on Christmas Day? And a week or two before that film you had the Hunger Games Sequel AND a Hobbit movie...as much as I love Ninja Turtles, it would've been crushed by those 2 giants.

"Oh boo hoo, TMNT 2007 was toothless, this movie will be a hack job, all because it's not having the Turtles be the kind of Turtles I want (throws toys out of the pram), I want them to be ruthless and vengeful, I want them stabbing and gutting people, I want dark and gritty, I want..."

Will this news effect the new cartoon show coming out??
If anything it's a good thing the movie will come out when the show is in its second season. The show will already have an established fanbase of little kids who will beg their parents to take them to the new movie, much like what happened in 1990 with the first movie.
Anyway between the movie, comics and cartoon, the movie always sounded like the worst of the 3 so hopefully this turns out for the best.

Whatever happens, it's safe to say we have the 1990 film. The update about the new movie being postponed has made me lost hope for a new film at all. It may take a few years before the turtles debut on the big screen. Let's just hope we get something some time.
Don't lose hope man, it's just postponed for improving and i'm sure we'll get something sooner of later!
TMNT 2007 was a great movie, better than most of the animated movies out there. Yea sure it's not the best movie for the turtles. BUT It was good.
I have the sneaking suspiscion that this might go straight back into development hell.
Could possibly, The turtles are known for that. What would have been the next mutation movie, and wasn't there another they were gonna make?
I'd be sold, then again I'm not a biased, boring elitist MIRAGE loyalist who can only enjoy ever one version of the TMNT. Sucks to be you doesnt it?
"Oh boo hoo, TMNT 2007 was toothless, this movie will be a hack job, all because it's not having the Turtles be the kind of Turtles I want (throws toys out of the pram), I want them to be ruthless and vengeful, I want them stabbing and gutting people, I want dark and gritty, I want..."

"Sesame" Street. That's how you spell it. Plus, Sesame Street is still not bad for kids, but the Muppets have stronger characters.

I think it's a matter of opinion. To me, the comics fall in the middle. I don't like them that much and find the change of origin unnecessary. Plus, I find Don unlikeable in that one so far. The show, I believe, will be at the top. With all the hype, advertising, merchandising, and previews it's getting, it seems Nickelodeon's CGI show is the one to be the best. Come on. A Leonardo that's into this Star Trek show is better than the boring one we have in IDW at this moment. Yet, I must agree. The movie may be the worst. We'll just have to see what happens.:tsmile:

Because they famously cut off Munroe's balls and tied his hands -- I'm not sure in which order. I don't blame Munroe one bit for the way things turned out, he's a cool guy. If left to his own devices he would have given us "City at War"... not Pokemon Green: The Movie/Playstation 1 FMV, which is the way it turned out with all the suits.

And TMNT wasnt a bad film at all.H-holy hell. Where did that come from? He already said it was pretty much a forgone conclusion he wouldn't enjoy the new TMNT movie, likely for all the reasons you mentioned (TMNT always falling into its comfortable kid-tween niche in larger media), and was pretty much at peace with it.
Then he gave a fairly realistic set of circumstances for this movie's production that will likely leave it in the territory of popcorn-flick mediocrity we've seen from just about every toy/comic franchise not named Batman in the past ten years, which I think is also fair.
While I vastly prefer Mirage to other incarnations, I have a soft spot for nearly all Turtles fiction and am completely comfortable with other takes. But I still have little faith this movie will exceed any expectations, no matter the time frame.
And it's been reasonably backed up over the last page, but TMNT wasn't, by any means, a good movie. I think it hits some rather decent notes as a fan even if it wasn't quite what I wanted, but it certainly wasn't anything near a success by critical or commercial standards.

Well actually, there CAN be a deeper meaning to Ninja Turtles, it's just they won't do it..
How about the fact that you have 4 brothers who are true outsiders...they will never know the joy of, say, falling in love...or having a kid...or having the 'white picket fence life'....having a family of any kind, or a future for their species...anytime they would try to show their face, they'd be called a freak, or a monster, and get someone to capture and dissect them.
Even heroes like Iron Man, Batman, Spider-Man, and X-Men...they still are, or at least LOOK, human (again, for the most part, I know there's a few X-Men who don't)...so they can still go out, get girlfriends, go to the mall, etc. without worrying about being caught, killed, and more.
Even if one of them for some reason did fall in love with a human, it'd never work out and it'd be a tragic story from the start. And of top of that, even their ostracized life is Further problematic with the various new enemies they gain, or when they get hurt they can't just 'go to the hospital', or even the simple fact that they got to live in disease-infested sewers for most of their lives...
So they can be deep...
Way too much discussion of old movies here. WTF?
Andrew NDB

There is a "Phantom of the Opera" quality to the Turtles, stemming from the outsiders/outcasts/freaks thing. You know, always living beneath a city and population that can and will never embrace them and, at poignant moments, them (or at least the audience) kind of being made soberingly aware of that. That should never be like the driving focus of any Turtle movie or iteration (at its core, we want to see four ninja brothers kicking ass and, sure, occasionally joking around), but it absolutely shouldn't be shied away from either.

I don't mind a bit of depth here and there, but too much will run the risk of turning TMNT into something it was never intended to be in the first place.
Paramount has pulled the plug on the Jonathan Liebesman-helmed reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, pushing its release back indefinitely... and, no, it's not for 3D post-conversion and/or more Channing Tatum.

I'd like to see a Ninja Turtles movie "a la" Batman Dark Knight, not negating the comic fictional root of them but puting them on a less comedian and more contempory frame. But it would still be and action film adaptation of some cool comic characters.

Maybe by "deep" I tend to think nuanced. The first movie by Barron has lots of little details and nuances that make it more than the some of it's parts...if you take the time to look at it.
And as for the Turtles questioning their own mortality and how they can never have a normal life, that's not fan fiction, that's this. (http://www.miragelicensing.com/comics/mirage/volume01/28/28.html)

We have had deep Turtles fiction before. But its numbers include "City at War" and a handful of Mirage's more reflective or indie-styled pieces, and that's about it. No one should hold out for anything like that. The most we can reasonably hope for is a competently done action movie, which the 2007 film wasn't, and which many, many franchise-based initiatives within the last few years have failed to be as well. Not sure if holding the script back bodes well or not for moving in a positive direction.

I guess "deep" is a subjective thing, especially when you have real-life film critics and reviewers on the 'Drome. Darn, I should have consulted my dictionary on the meaning of deep. Let's see..."deep" as we are using it is described as:
deep, 2. (of an emotion or feeling) intensely felt.
...Yeah. Pretty subjective to me.

If you think Avengers is deep because of the reasons stated, thats ok but you're wrong.

It's not wrong you tool, it's subjective. Pretty simple. There's no debate. The characters themselves within the story may experience emotional depth, even in the Avengers, however I do not see the viewer (you and I) experiencing any sort of deep emotion, other than excitement for how fun the movie is. The character development in The Avengers was very hollow, they don't want to be a team, then they beat each other up for 5 minutes and now they are all best buddies. With what little development there is, you can see it but being able to attach yourself and become emotionally involved with what the characters are feeling is a stretch.
The Pianist in my opinion is a good example of how a movie can have a deep emotional impact on the viewer, but what do I know I'm just a computer nerd.

Haha I rather liked weenies. Is it even worth going into an example with you, though? I really don't think what I say is going to shift your opinion, just like what you say probably won't shift mine. But for argument's sake, Loki in particular rather than the heroes (save perhaps Iron Man) had some deep moments. He's struggling with this whole self-righteousness conflict while being basically mind-f*cked by Thanos and his advisor. You can see all the moments in Hiddleston's face (he's such a sick actor) when he knows Thor is genuine and trying to get through to him, you can see Loki battling through his past feelings and betraying Thor again and again. To me, that's a deep (intense) inner conflict that everybody can relate to in some sort of way.
Not that what I just said is going to change your opinion. But, since you keep calling me out on (deliberately) not giving you an example there it is.

I'd agree that another origin story for us long time fans seems redundant, but IDW pulled it off pretty well and if the origin has a new twist in the film I wouldn't mind it - as long as it didn't detract too much from the main story-line.

I probably shouldn't be touching this thread again with a ten-foot pole, and it definitely has nothing to do with the movie being postponed anymore, but ...
Here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genre_fiction
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Literary_fiction
That's pretty basic, but there are two distinct categories of fiction critics and writers use to distinguish the goals and styles of certain pieces. And it's not all that subjective. Essentially, you have "genre" fiction (your basic action movie/story, romance, sci-fi, fantasy, etc.) which prioritizes entertainment over art and theme. And then you have "literary" fiction, which prioritizes art and theme over entertainment.
Usually, it's pretty black and white. Genre fiction definitely has a message most of the time, since it's a basic component of story-telling. But if the art isn't the main draw, if there's a sequence in it that serves no other purpose than spectacle and entertainment (watching things go boom, etc.), it's genre.
There are plenty of stories that blur the line however, using elements normally associated with genre fiction to tell a literary story. (And conversely, there are shows, movies and books that purport to have some higher goal but really only ever display vapid entertainment.) This is kind of subjective, and often times how successful it is matters more than the intent to do so in the first place. But I think a handful of TMNT comics do cross over successfully.
But do some more Googling on "literary vs. genre fiction" if you want to brush up on how real writers and critics have for a long while categorized the depth and artistry of fiction.
Now ... why the **** are we still talking about this?

As the "Avengers is deep" spin-off of this topic is being allowed, I think I'm going to give my point too.
Avengers is many things: it's entertaining, it's got some nice jokes, it's full of action... But the plot is expected, characters fight each other for very stupid reasons and for no reasons at all they stick together all of a sudden. And they win.
I'll put a simil for you Michelangelo. Karate Kid (the old one) is one of my favourite films ever. It's got karate, a weak kid trying to fit in a new school in a different city far away from his friends, a struggle with parents decissions affecting the main characters life, the overpressure an unbalanced sport trainer figure can have on influenceable teens, a silent karate master teaching how not fighting is sometimes the most wise decision... But still is not "deep" because the bulling over the main character is naive, the love story is predictible, the main character has a bad script and a terrible acting, ...
There are things in the movie I like and enjoy, but I can see it's weaknesses and I can fairly judge that it's not deep.
Is good to admit when we have gone too far. And you have. Simply admit you over valued the film even you still like it, as simple as that.
Dogville is deep.

That's just one character though and all of his development was done in Thor. Every character in that movie had development ELSEWHERE. Avengers was just the big event where they all came together.
I would say that Loki actually regressed as a character in Avengers. Becoming the comic "TEE-HEE I'M GONNA GET THAT THOR." throughout most of the movie.
Again, never said that you couldn't have an opinion. Just saying that the reasons you stated for the movie being 'deep' didn't make a lot of sense and practically put every single action movie ever released on the same platform.

Yea, bra! Honestly don't care about what you think bout dressing up as a Turtle (which I do for Cons) - I like having fun in life, don't know about you. I don't think video games are for losers, but the amount of time I've seen you troll here + b*tch about video games and how the Batman games wouldn't work on a Turtles platform because blah blah blah I'd assume you'd spend most of your time attached to a TV, while I only spend a fraction of time at a Con dressed as a Turtle. :D
Whateeeeev, why are we attacking eachother's personal priorities again? I almost forgot at this point. It's silly. Let's just agree to disagree.

I agree that Loki got most of his development in Thor, but to me, he's still a "deep" character in Avengers, save when he gets raped by Hulk.
Again, never said that you couldn't have an opinion. Just saying that the reasons you stated for the movie being 'deep' didn't make a lot of sense and practically put every single action movie ever released on the same platform.

I thought this would happen. As we all know Paramount have set a new release date of 16th May 2014, which was the same day as Marvel’s untitled film. I don’t know if anyone has been reading up on any movie news lately, but it’s been pretty much confirmed that that untitled film is Guardians of the Galaxy. There was no way in the world two studios would release two such potential big films on the same day, so one of them was always going to move.
And it’s not Ninja Turtles. That’s staying put……for now.
The Marvel film has moved to August. Guess Marvel and Disney blinked first.

That's not what the article says; unless I'm misunderstanding something.
Is this the blurb you're referring to?
Analysts have been knocking Viacom's Nickelodeon division for lower ratings. The Ninja Turtles project, a joint Paramount-Nickelodeon production, was eyed as a chance to bolster Nickelodeon as well as reboot a family film franchise. The studio had paid a hefty sum for rights to the property, which had been the basis for three hit movies for New Line Cinema in the 1990s.
If so they're talking about the upcoming movie, not the Nick series.

I keep hearing this movie is canceled. Is it? I have no clue.Indefinitely delayed. Better?
I keep hearing this movie is canceled. Is it? I have no clue.
Indefinitely delayed. Better?
To answer both of you, the initial article from the Hollywood Reporter did indeed use the word "indefinite" to describe the delay, but then Deadline Hollywood and Variety both chimed in later on in the day stating that it was a delay of 10 weeks and that Paramount has already set a new release date. After that, the original article from the Hollywood Reporter was updated. This is what Variety put in their article on the matter:
The shutdown is not indefinite and the plan is to work on the script over the next couple of weeks in order to beef up the material and bring the budget down slightly.
Studios don’t set a new release date for something that's delayed indefinitely or cancelled. Other movie blog websites are just conveniently ignoring the update, and the Variety and Deadline Hollywood articles, which are very different to the Hollywood Reporter article that originally broke the news.
So, as of now, officially it is still going on. It certainly hasn’t been “cancelled”, despite what a lot of junk blogger websites are saying. They either can't read, or are just ignoring the facts to fit in with their own biased perceptions. Probably the latter.
Here are the Variety and Deadline Hollywood articles, as well as the original (but now updated) Hollywood Reporter article:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/paramount-shuts-down-ninja-turtles-338301
http://www.deadline.com/2012/06/paramount-delays-ninja-turtles-start-date/
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118055564
If people are really interested in legitimate movie news straight from the studios, then these are the only three websites worth paying attention to.

Personally, Bay's best movies are The Rock and the first Transformers films. They guy really isn't a good director. Most of his movies would be better if his outlandish, beyond juvenile humor didn't take up a chunk of the running time. His movies literally stop for gags that are incredibly dumb. They're not even funny. It's like Transformers 2 and 3 were written by a kid in Junior High.
He's not the director for this film, but the films produced by Platinum Dunes have not been great. Or good. Or decent. They've all either been bland or outright terrible. His involvement in this film has not been a good thing.
