So i read somewhere that mikey's new catchphrase is "booyakasha" personally i think that it is really stupid and they should have just kept "cowabunga" i have never in my life heard anyone say "booyakasha" What are your thoughts?

"Booyakasha" is not bad, depending on how you look at its meaning.

Basically, it means keep it real or something. Don't worry. Cowabunga may make a comeback. If I can remember from a report on the London Expo, when Kevin Eastman asked what the audience prefered, they said "Cowabunga." Not many of the reports mention this, but this one forum member reported that Eastman then said, "Cowabunga it is." I can't remember. You'll have to ask him. His name is Chris.

You can't replace "Cowabunga!" That'd be like replacing Bebop and Rocksteady with a dog and a fish or replacing Don and Mike's weapons with bladed- okay, nevermind!
No idea why people think this is Mikey's new catch phrase, but I understand it was originally from Tha Ali G Show. Kowabonga was originally from The Howdy Doody Show, so I guess it's not too far-fetched.

I would have been fine with the continued use of cowabunga, but I'm ok with this new one. I was initially against it, but it's grown on me. I feel that booyakasha is in the same vain as cowabunga. Though I am hoping that he says cowabunga at some point too, even if just the one time, as a nod to the past.
...or replacing Don and Mike's weapons with bladed...
It's not like they still don't have their traditional weapons. They just have the blades in addition to them.
No idea why people think this is Mikey's new catch phrase...
It was confirmed to be this Mikey's catch phrase at that event held in France at the end of last month.

I'm okay with the new catchphrase. But I hope we do see Mikey use "Cowabunga" sometime during the show.

Guys! Really, I don't think we have anything to worry about. I've been searching for this part of a post since this thread was born. Chris stated this from the event:
Cowabunga - They tried to dodge this one. Rich said they were trying some new stuff and Mikey’s catch phrase was going to be “booyakasha” and when Leo said it Mikey replies “it sounds funny when he says it” to which the others reply “it sounds funny when you say it”. He then said they are listening to the fans (they encouraged the use of #NickTurtles) and are listening to them and appreciate their input. He asked if the audience wanted Cowabunga which got a big applause and Eastman just said “it’s in”.
This was during Q+A, and maybe he's the only one that's mentioned this. Anyone else that has been discussing about this event don't say that Kevin remarked, "It's in." So maybe, just maybe, cowabunga is coming (or going to come) back soon. We'll see. But after what I read from Chris, I'm counting on it to return. I mean, what is TMNT without "Cowabunga?" "Booyakasha" is nice, but if that fails, the older catchphrase will return. It's likely to happen.:tgrin: Let's all be positive.

"Cowabunga" was used three times I believe by Michelangelo in the 4kids series, so its almost certainly going to be used if Peter Laird allowed it. Still, "Booyakasha" sounds more appropriate for Leonardo or Raphael based upon its meaning, and is still nowhere near as popular as "Cowabunga" is. One question though is if Mikey will be obsessed on one particular element (pizza/video games) like in the older series. It's sort of like "Goongola!" in the later seasons of the 4kids series in terms of how catchy it is.

personally, I think to categorize 'booyakasha' as a new catchphrase is a bit too far;)....I think you don't have to worry at all, cowabunga is golden and won't be missing(hey they collect anything that has stayed with the franchise over the years anyway so this is surely going to be part of the new cycle..)
I just wanted to add without looking into your wikipedia link here, that booyaasha wasn't originated at all in the ali g show..that term is much older, and to my ears is really outdated;but on the other hand one could say the same thing in 1987 about the term cowabunga AND nba jam'announcer brought this term back in his famous game commentary last year, so....

it just doesn't roll off the tongue like cowabunga does. Try saying it out loud.
"booyakasha"
it just doesn't sound right

I love Urban Dictionary, Booyakasha is still the silliest word I've yet to hear.

I'd be ok with it as long as he still said Cowabunga every now and then. They can't just drop Cowabunga all together..... :ohwell:
Cowabunga was stupid, googala was stupid, booyakasha is stupid. Catchphrases to me... are pretty useless, and for me grating on my ear to hear in mid sentence or yelling about. It is just a bunch of added nonsense.
Keep your penny.
