X-box will be the second best looking version, but I will probably be getting Gamecube version. I to expect lower sales on X-box, because the target audience is probably mostly GC and PS2 owners.

SHUT. UP. How can releasing a game on ANOTHER platform so MORE people can experience it gonna make them LOSE money? Not to mention it will look and sound better than any other version. Plain fact. I was really happy to hear this news since I really didn't want to have to be in my brother's room all the time to use the Gamecube, not to mention my turtle gang and I all own and prefer XBoxes..But your bashing really annoyed me. Have some common sense and respect for other people here; it's just like when people get pissed about the old cartoon being bashed. I get pissed when people bash my XBox.

Enough of the bashing. Everyone likes their own system. Each have their pros and cons. The game is coming out on all three consoles. The move to put the game on X-Box won't make sales any worse. If the game is good it will sell! No matter the console. Let's leave it at that.

I think people are worried that the new game will be exclusive to XBOX, which it won't. I think the biggest reason for "fanboy-ism" is that if you spend so much money into getting, say, a PS2 and it's games and accesories, than you may be rightyfully ticked off to see XBOX and Gamecube get some good stuff. It's like an investment, really. No one wants to see something they poured so much money, time, and emotion into go down the drain. Why, I remember back to the days of the 16-bt Sega/Nintendo wars. Those were some violent times...
What I'm really craving, however, is a compilation of Konami's old TMNT games, including the legendary Arcade Game. :goofygri:

Not neccessarily. X-box is not considered a console wich parent buy for their children. It is usually GC or PS2. X-box's target audience is older, and thats why GC and PS2 version will probably sell more.
And X-box version is not the best looking or sounding version, PC port is. But GC is probably the platform I will buy the game for.

Not 100% true... Eternal Darkness is one of the best games I've ever played, it got awesome reviews from the press, fan sites were going nuts about it, and it flopped.
X-Box is geared about 80% towards adults. Most adults, other than the hardcore fans of TMNT who own X-Box pry woulden't be caught dead buying the game. I could see this selling pretty good for kids, but most kids want a PS2 or already have it.
It could acutally result in Konami loosing money if it dosen't sell enough units on the box. Games, even ports, are expensive to make.

05-14-2003, 07:59 PM
A lot of what people here have been saying is true though, and not just ignorant thoughts or whatever you prefer to call them. Of what we know so far it will be sold on 5 systems: PC, GBA, X-box, Ps2, and GC. If they dedicate the same amount of game units for each system (which I think will happen between the consoles but not with the PC version), then each system owns 20% of the games. Having known Konami finds it difficult, costly, and not very time effective to make games for X-box, it might get the least sales. (Although I personally feel that the PC will get the worst by far unless it has a multi-player feature) So yes, it will be more sales overall, that is stating the obvious though. The problem is that if it doesn't sell well then a huge chunk of the game units they paid for go to waste, thus losing a lot of money. Again, most kids have GC or Ps2, their will be a much higher demand for units with GC and Ps2, if there is only a 20% supply though, that would mean Konami having to pay more money than it should have had to. I probably stretched this into some wierd scenario, but I don't know how 3rd party companies deal with 3 different consoles, so I made my own presumption.

A lot of people can't get dreamcasts anymore though, and even if they can getting the emulator and cd's made for it would be a lot more trouble than slapping down 50 bucks for a single disc that could save game data (options, scores, times died, or what ever else would be worth keeping track of).

I don't think Konami would be stupid enough to release the same amount of games for X-Box as they do for GC and PS2. I'm sure they'll have a limited supply for X-Box and if the game is in demand they'll ship more. Simple as that.

Pidgeot018 I feel your pain man. I'm dieing for a compilation!
The Arcade Game, Turtles in Time (arcade version), The Manhattan Project, and The Hyperstone Heist would be awsome! All four with the super awsome cartoony arcade graphics (all with the same graphics I mean) and four player support for each. The game would be a shoe-in for an exclusive for Gamecube or GCN and Xbox. It doesn't seem to fit PS2 IMO. Konami has released Contra, Castlevania, Bomerman (by Hudson of course), and Arcade collections. So why not TMNT? Everyone loves those games (everyone here at least). The "legendary" arcade game got 3rd on G4's greatest arcade games of all time list (as voted by the fans on the Filterater). Only behind Street Fighter 2 (second) and Pac Man (first).
If nothing else Konami should release the first arcade game for GBA (or Turtles in Time) and add in 4 player link play. That would be well worth a purchase.
I've wanted a four player TMNT game since the N64 days. Why wont they give it to me?!?!? Ah well... I can dream.
As for the game being on Xbox. I wish it wasn't because it makes it less "special" being on everything. I agree that more people should get to play the game, but PC, GCN, and PS2 was enough IMO. It's not going to do wonders for the demo-graphic (as others have stated) and will eventually end up costing Konami money (like most of their Xbox games have). I do know quite a few "kids' that own Xboxes though so I wouldn't count it out just yet. Even so the GCN and PS2 version will sell the most and the Xbox and PC ones will sell just a little below. I can see the Harry Potter PC gamer croud picking up TMNT for the PC.
Though the Xbox one will not be different from the PS2, GCN, or PC games. They will all be the SAME. Look at the screen shots guys they are no different from one another. Konami would mention it if they were. TMNT was built for the PS2 (like most licensed games) and was ported to the other consoles and the PC. The only different game out of the bunch will be the dramatically different (for obvious reasons) GBA version. So it doesn't really matter which one you get. They're the same game folks. Because of that fact I plan to pick up the GCN, because I like it best (but first I need to get either that or a PS2).
Tokka-B
05-21-2003, 07:30 PM
Actually it will look different...you are seeing screen shots from different systems on your same computer, you are seeing the computer graphics. If you actually get the game for both GC and X-Box then you will notice the difference. If it was the same, there would only be one console, and PC.
Ninja Tiptup
05-21-2003, 10:20 PM
Why? Third party games come out all the time for every system and look different. What's the difference? I really don't see anything. They aren't system specific changes and if you arguing this for Xbox then let it be said that GCN can put out just as great a performance. Besides a hard drive and more memory the Xbox has nothing on the GCN (well except Xbox Live I guess).
If they were more console specific. Then why does Konami have only one site for all four? That could be that they are just lazy though...

X-Box has the hold on the graphics . GC has the hold on the loading times. PS2 has the hold on the amount of games. As for good X-Box exclusive games that will/have made in impact: Halo/Halo 2, Fable, Brute Force, Full Spectrum Warrior, DOA series (I don't like it but lots do), MechAssult, FSRF, Conker Live and Uncut, Perfect Dark Zero, Banjo Kazooie. Personally I don't think the X-Box could ever live up to the GC series of games, Mario and Zelda just kill the entire X-Box line up with the exception of Halo, which is hardly able to hang in there with those two series as it is. Fable would be a tough one to beat as well (if it comes out properly). The TMNT won't have too much of a difference. Most games that are released multi-console at the same time are usually just about if not exactly the same. X-Box and GC won't have as many (or any) of the jaggies the PS2 gives off the majority of the time and GC's FMV (if there is any real FMV in the game) won't look as sharp thanks to compression, but all three should look play and sound the same.

Probably more of a GCN fan (I've yet to get one, but I will eventually), but I doubt your are more of a Nintendo fan than I am. I own every Gameboy ever to make it to the US(I still have my old Toaster grey GB), 41 NES games, pretty much all the Mario series games, and I have been a Nintendo fanboy sense the NES days. I actually go opt to buy old games over the new ones at this point. I've just about run out of games that I want for SNES and N64 though. Plenty more for the NES of course.
Exclusives blah blah blah... BTW I hear (at least in comparrison) Toe Jam and Earl III sucked and Sonic Heros is gonna be on everything anyway.
I have played an Xbox. I just never liked the controller or very many of the games. DOA 3 was fun and Halo 16 player is very enjoyable, but that's about it.
GCN hasn't gotten my attention much as of yet either. Metroid Prime got a little boring for me and I think Zelda is a similar case. I really love Super Smash Bros. Melee, but that's about it for now. I was really dissapointed with Super Mario Sunshine. I had a much more enjoyable experience with Super Mario 64 and pretty much every other Mario series game. When I get a GCN most of my games will probably be third party. TMNT, DBZ: Budokai, and Soul Calibur have really caught my interest and TimeSplitters 2 is a fine FPS. I'll no doubt pick up SSB:M right away, and I'll probably get Mario Kart: Double Dash and Star Fox: Armada and at least check out Metroid Prime 2, FF: Crystal Chronicles, and F-Zero, but all those games wont be coming out yet. So that means it will be a while before I will need a GCN.
Even so the only games I like on PS2 are fighting games and small bunch of RPG's (mainly the ports like CT and FF6). So I don't really need one of those either.
I think GCN has the most potential though and can do anything Xbox can except have a hardrive at this point (it can get online... but Nintendo doesn't really support it).
BTW Triceraton I made those Neo Geo Pocket Color TMNT sprites in your sig. I'm glad you like them though. It's nice to see my art appreciated.

NOOO! ToeJam and Earl III is a totally kick ass game! The only reason people didn't like it was 'cause they didn't understand it. The only people who really understand it are the old skool TJ&E fans (such as myself).

Hey Elite5Raph read this convo:
*@hotmail.com says:
amazing how when people talk about how good xbox is the only game the can name is "Halo"
*@hotmail.com says:
i used to have an xbox and halo
Ian says:
LOL exactly! thats what were all trying to say, but he cant admit its true
*@hotmail.com says:
halo is a good game
*@hotmail.com says:
but nothing groundbreaking
Ian says:
does it get boring?
*@hotmail.com says:
nothing to make me kiss microsofts ass
*@hotmail.com says:
not really
I put a star in for his name so you dont add him and do god knows what. also, last time me (and 3 quarters of the technodrome) check, these are the results of the main poll on the technodrome page:
Technodrome
Poll - May
Which of the current video game consoles do you own?
PlayStation 2
23% / 46 ppl
GameCube
21% / 42 ppl
Xbox
4% / 8 ppl
PlayStation 2 and GameCube
17% / 34 ppl
PlayStation 2 and Xbox
5% / 10 ppl
GameCube and Xbox
3% / 6 ppl
All Three
10% / 20 ppl
None
19% 38 ppl
votes: 200
If you look, Ps2 / Xbox, GC / Xbox, and Xbox by itself all have 10 and under ppl voting for it. Now either the numbers are so low because ppl go out and rent an xbox whenever they want to play it, or xbox just plain sucks (as about 75% of the internet has been sayig ever since it was released) :)

Well if an old skool fan likes it then I guess it isn't as bad as they say. Or maybe it is and you just like it. Either way if you like it then play it. Simple as that.
Don't scold him Tokka it was a simple mistake with the BBCode.

Triceratron that is nothing but worthless pointless bashing. Your opinion means absolutley nothing to me now. The fact of the matter is in the coming months GCN will begin to slide thanks to Nintendo screwing over all of us hardcore fans and focusing on stupid GBA/GCN hook-ups rather than creating new games based on everyones favorite franchises or new franchises. As much as it pains me to say it I can see Nintendo slowly slipping down past X-Box. Mario Kart and F-Zero are all well and good, but I need something BIG to look forward to. They could have at least mentioned Super Mario 128 or a new SSB. Instead they go crazy over a boring Pac-Man game! The fact that most people are too blinded by the fanboyism or just too plain immature to realize that Halo WAS a groundbreaking game and IS the best FPS ever made really makes me sick. Fanboyish comments will get you nowhere in a hurry. Don't say I'm an X-Box fanboy either because I've been playing Nintendo systems since I was two years old. Nintendo has and always will be top of my list, but bashing other systems that DON'T suck and other games that AREN'T bad is just plain stupid.

Nintendo has been that way since N64. I was really disapointed when N64 had only one real Mario game, NES had 3 and SNES had 2. It's weird that if Super MArio 128 is really in development, why they didn't mention it in E3? I would also like to see a realistic looking Zelda game, where you don't play a 10 year old Kid in a disney world. Might be just a dream.

LoL! Listing exclusive games is irrelevant, but finding stills isn't!
When will you learn that graphics stills don't make the game special, it is the gameplay and cotrol that does. I wanted you to list exclusive X-box games because I wondered if there was any good game besides Halo...I think that is a fair question...
Uh, yea. My stills are proving that XBox's graphics do more than "nic" the Gamecube's. What is finding exclusive games doing? Anyway, I think Michaelangelo's list works well enough. Triceraton, that conversation you posted uh, what is it that I'm supposed to be offended by? It looks to me that the guy said that Halo was a good game, and he also said that it didn't get boring. And anyway, since Halo is mentioned so often...Don't you think that kinda means something? There are people that have BOUGHT Xboxes FOR Halo. Don't you think that kinda means something? Do you think at all, or does Tokka have to do all your thinking? I have yet to see you come up with anything intelligent to say. All you do is wait for Tokka to say something, then jump behind him and say "  Yeah, XBox sucks!" Even though you have never played it, or Halo. What does that say about your opinion? Besides the fact that it's void? Right. And what exactly did you expect to prove by posting those poll results? Unless 99.9 percent of the world's population are member's of this forum, that means absolutely nothing, just like everything else you say from this point on.

I don't know what there is to argue about. Xbox is most powerfull of Consoles, and yes, has best visuals. GC has good visuals and faster loading times than Xbox. PS2 was released first and is the least powerfull machine. But it has games that other do not, if you are a RPGamer you can't live without PS2.
Now good PC over powers everyone of these easily in Visuals, but it's much more fun to play games like TMNT on a couch with Big screen and good sound system. Therefore GC version is the choice for me.

Anything on on PC's other than Stradegy, FPS, and occasionally racing games doesn't feel right to me. Consoles are where it's at for fighting games and platformers.

Nintendo is dissapointing me as well, but I know they are probably saving something for Space World. I'm just happy we get a new Mario RPG (with Luigi!), Fire Emblem (at last), Custom Robo (at last), and some pretty decent exclusives from Nintendo this year. Geist looks pretty awsome.
Halo is a great game, but I'm still rather partial to Goldeneye. Say and believe what you want, but I'm sticking to my guns and saying that it is the great console FPS and will be for a long time.

Yes think so to. And RTS and FPS game don't really belong to consoles. Even if you have keyboard and mouse wich most players don't, the resolution is to low. I play FPS games at 1280x1024 and it just doesn't feel right at 640x480. Pc is not the best platform for fighting/platformer games, but it's good that even TMNT fans without consoles can play the game.

Oh boy...it's been a while...
First, Triceraton...those poll results mean absolutely nothing besides the fact that more people own a Gamecube, which does make sense because it costs less.
Tiptup, don't tell me what I can and can not say.
Michaelangelo, get used to Nintendo being like that, in order to make those dream games they would first need money, and that is the easiest way to get it, and probly the most practical.
Raph, finding exclusive X-box games that are good may prove whether X-box is a system worthy enough to purchase. If all of its games are on GC and Ps2, then why not get one of them? I'd seriously like reasons why to purchase an X-box...maybe X-box Live, but I don't think X-box is the best system to be using online games when there are enough bugs offline.
Karpo, the visual stills may be better, but when the game is in action it is more choppy than the GC and thus the graphics aren't displayed as well. And yea, PC owns for RTS and FPS, but if there ever was an online fighting game for PC, I'd get it over any for the console.

I don't have much experience on Xbox, but I to have heard that some games suffer framerate problems. And Im pretty sure that so do some GC games, altough I haven't seen one yet.

Hmmm, actually that is possible...none of the ones I have though have that problem, maybe I might come across one sometime in the near future.

First, Triceraton...those poll results mean absolutely nothing besides the fact that more people own a Gamecube, which does make sense because it costs less. The poll results don't mean "nothing," they represent the video game consoles that visitors to The Technodrome own. Shredder and I didn't make those results up, you know... :P
Anyway, this is not the place to debate about which video game console is better. If some of you still want to debate about that even though it's been done several times before, start a new thread in General Discussion. Personally, though, I'm sick of hearing from the kiddies who only care about which console is the "most powerful" and has the "best graphics" rather than about the games themselves. And besides, I think the original topic of this thread has already served its purpose, so I'm locking this thread to avoid any further arguments.
