View Full Version : Why Metalhead?

Why do you think the writers of the Nick show decided to bring back Metalhead? I wonder if they looked at the roster for Turtles in Time and are planning on reviving most of those characters.

It kinda bothered me how the 4kids cartoon had "The Evil Turtlebot," and just made it another robot turtle because PL simply didn't want any old characters to return even if it was a robot turtle.

To be fair, Metalhead the member of the Justice Force existed in that universe, so the name was taken...

I still doubt Metalhead would have been used if his name was different though. PL really made sure no Fred Wolf/Playmates character showed up in 4kids until Turtles Forever.

I never gave Metalhead much thought as a child save for the fact that he had a cool figure. However, given everything we have seen from the Nick show (or to even judge exclusively by the trailer alone) Metalhead seems like a perfect addition to this new take on Turtles.

I'm pretty excited to see how Donatello creates him, and why he does it in the first place.

No problem for me; its just another recurring character back in action! From what it seems, it looks like this incarnation will be heavily Fred Wolf-influenced. I would like to see Metalhead though use more weapons though.

I hated making Metalhead a boss because he was rewired to be a good guy...and a maid. Chrome Dome would have been more of an appropriate choice IMHO. When I think of robots Metalhead and Chrome Dome come to my mind long before Fugitoid or Rex-1,etc. would. I liked the Metalhead character despite just the two appearances and a toy. It does seem random to have this character revived instead of others though. I hope it means we get other little used characters to show up. I have always found the '87 series characters more interesting than Mirage's pool of characters.

i'm excited for metalhead. the sculpt for the new figure looks amazing and i plan on getting it. other than the turtles, it will be the only figure i'll purchase. i dont care much for the other figure sculpts that they've shown thus far.

Well the game does heavily rely on Time Travel as part of its Plot... Way I see it Shredder went back in time and plucked up Evil Metalhead and used him against the Turtles.

See that way its nice foreshadowing to the whole Time Travel aspect. You're going around singing your Alleycat Blues and suddenly *BAM* Metalhead shows up and is all "I'm gonna mangle you Green Slimeballs!" and your like what but Metalhead is a good guy. WHAT IS GOING ON?!?

Then after you've gone Sewer Surfin' and fought the Pizza Mutants (again a villian from the past reborn) you finally understand that Shredder has gained control over Time itself and that is why the Past returns...

Not bad, but certainly too much overthinking for my tastes. When I play the game, I go, "Whoa! The [such-and-such]?! That's awesome!" and then continue mashing the attack button. :trazz:

Metalhead was intruded four years before Metal Sonic.

And the robotic doppelganger was introduced long before Metalhead.

I can admit that wasn't necessarily the way I looked at it when I was younger... But I am a huge fan of the Marvel No Awards and when I saw the question was raised as to why Metalhead would be a bad guy again, I figured I would try my hand at rationalizing it.
