Recently, I went for a job interview to be an admissions counselor at Keiser University. It was a group interview and they only asked each of us one question. Then it's a second one to one interview.

From what I've been told; I make calls to students who were interested in Keiser University to talk to them about what Keiser University is about, why they should enroll, etc. I'm basically the first person they talk to about it.

I also receive inbound calls from students who want to talk about the university.

I also talk to students during the time they are in classes and help them with problems like a bad teacher or if they can't attend class anymore.

But it sounds like a sales job. I would make 75-100 calls per day. Only receive 3-4 calls each day.

Hours are either Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday where it's essentially either 12-9 or 9-6.

The place is 25 miles from my house, so it's far. I have to pay a toll to get there.

There's Health, Dental, and Vision. 401K. 35,000 per year. They say after 3 months, you can transfer to a different department if you want.

Then I read reviews from other people who have had this job with this school; they say that it's really a sales job. They care more about the amount of students you enroll than the students themselves. They hound you for not getting a certain amount of students enrolled; like I think they want 10 per month. If you don't fulfill this requirement, then you have to work 6 days a week.

They say there are times they make you work overtime for only half pay.

The benefits are expensive. Someone said that health is 300 per month and the other ones are expensive too.

Someone said if you transfer to a different department, Keiser frowns upon you for doing so.

Also someone said how after you work for a year; they start writing you up and trying to get you fired.

Now I'll either get a call back tomorrow or Monday if they pick me for the second interview.

But I don't know if it's really worth it. The job seems too good to be true but I don't know if the recruiters from Keiser are lying because of the reviews I read. I don't know if the people who read reviews were actually doing a good job or not.

There's no bonuses for enrolling students. It's 35,000 per year and that's it. Apparently clerks in other companies make more than that.

I do have a job already and it's nice but I can't live on the salary; it's hourly pay but per year it would be around like 20,000 per year.

If I get offered this job, should I take it or does this seem like a cruddy job?

Not sure man, if it seems to go to be true it usually is as the old saying goes. But if you've got nothing to lose and more to gain go for it

It's definitely a sales job.....but that's kind of what most entry level type jobs are. My first job was a "disguised" sales job. I hated it, but it opened doors for me.

You have benefits and a decent salary. I'd take the job and get your foot in the door. There might be better jobs in the university that you'll have a better chance of getting if you already work for them. That's what happened for me. Tripled my salary in three years by moving up the ladder internally at my job.

If I had quit right away......I wouldn't be where I am today. Financially stable. Good living situation...new car...and no more sales.

I say take it and see where it goes. The benefits alone are worth it in the long run. And if you don't like it, you can always look elsewhere later on. But make sure that if you do look for another job, that you secure it first before quitting this one.
