I've been in the mood to watch some turtles and I have the ability to watch all episodes of both. I'm about 6 episodes in on season one of each of the series and I honestly can't decide which one I prefer. I like them both equally and I don't really think I should switch off of episode after episode going in between the series.

Watch both as they're both very different but valid takes on the TMNT franchise.

There is no right or wrong answer.

Watch both dude.

Though if you must pick one, watch the OT if your in the mood to laugh and watch 2k3 if you want something more serious! Either one is a good choice though.:twink:

How about watching all the 1987 episodes one after another and then continue with the 2003 show? Both are certainly worth watching, might feel more comfortable to focus separately on each version.

Looking at your earlier posts and your avatar, I would lean ever so slightly to the 2003 series, since the first six episodes of the OT are a good enough feel for that series, but you're not quite at the first Shredder episode of 4kids. But I don't mind you watching both at the same time since its easier to compare and mixes up the feel.

Tina,for the win!

I believe the 1987 cartoon had a better character set and Shredder and Rat King versions but the seamless story of the 2003 cartoon is stronger. Both have strong points and weak points. I perfer the '87 cartoon grew up with it or not. Yet you may perfer the other. Watch the '87 cartoon first and follow it up with the 2003 cartoon. I will finish a marathon watch through of the 2003 cartoon which took me 9 weeks. So it will be time consuming if you watch a combined 351 episodes!

Both.

At the same time.

Seriously, though, if you intend to complete both anyway, it hardly matters. 2k3 might spoil you on the action scenes, though.

To its credit, you're right. It definitely did. Doesn't mean the flick made even a lick of sense.

Yeah, well Shredder, in my opinion, is one of the most bad*** looking characters out of anything in the world in the 2003 series. Comparable to Darth Vader. x)

But I think with everyone here's posts I think I will watch all of 87, then watch all of '03. I did want to watch some before the new show came out, because in all honesty, I never did finish the 87 show. I was born as it ended (96) so I actually grew up with the '03 first and then I started getting into the 87 series. I had to get the DVDs, but they were impossible to find without eBay. Now I have a means of watching all of both, and I intend to finish the series this time as I feel unlike a true fan having never even finished the original show. xD

But thanks for all of the opinions guys, I appreciate it.

Just know that there's a massive shift in quality in the vintage show, shortly after where you're at.

Season 1-2 of the 1987 show are better if you like a little bit darker tone (but not Red Sky years).

Oh wow, I can imagine that took such such a long time to watch all these episodes. I've begun something similar with the Fred Wolf series, gonna make sure the DVDs are all right so that's an additional reason to enjoy it. Making this an ongoing project is certainly a possibility as well as it is not always possible to see any episodes daily.

Oh yes. Sometimes it can be difficult to find the DVDs you want online, is great that you have the opportunity to see them now. If you grew up with the '03 cartoon it's understandable you focused on those episodes first. Choosing what to watch, read or play can be quite difficult with lots of things anyway. Having a great time is what matters. :)

Yeah, to me during those years my life was nothing but Star Wars and Ninja Turtles. I had all the toys, all the vehicles, I had some toy Nunchucks that made sounds, ect. I was really into it, I can't imagine watching it in the 80s when it was REALLY big, I would have had the time of my life. x) I'm actually REALLY enjoying myself watching these old episodes. It's funny, and the action is acceptable. I will never get over the fact that they eat whipped cream pizza and put cereal on it for breakfast.

The OT is funnier as an adult because you notice all the sarcastic humor and off the wall comments that flew over our heads as kids.

The entire main cast and villains are also very likeable. It just had a great cast.

Depends on which age you was as a kid.

Mr. Turtle: Probably kids pay the most attention to what is currently shown on TV, but I could imagine if their parents enjoy the old episodes and watch them while their kids are around, it might actually wake their interest. At least it would be awesome if that were to happen. Though it could depend on how... open their classmates or friends are. From own experiences and from what I heard I know how difficult it can be when someone tells you "Duh, you watch something like that?! Oh God, how can one play with action figures at that age." and similar remarks which could lead them into thinking what they like is wrong because the other children say something else. After all it's nice to talk about hobbies with your friends, especially at a younger age. It's always wonderful to see someone discover their love for the older episodes, both kids and adults. :)

Bossk: I'm happy to hear you've been enjoying yourself so much. Used to have Star Wars and TMNT toys as well and spent lots of time with them. Impressive how much variety they have had, even back then. Lol, I wonder how the Turtles came up with these unique pizza toppings. The ordinary ones weren't special enough I suppose, though it's probably normal you look for different opportunities when you eat the same food on such a regular basis. XD Despite all the funny elements it's definitely a thrilling show, awesome plots. If you enjoy it now, you'll have a blast with the other episodes as well. :thyper:

CyberCubed: It was an amazing cast indeed. While some jokes and remarks could be properly understood as an adult there was still lots to laugh as a kid. They had the funniest ideas! :D

I watched a lot of action cartoons as a kid, didn't or know care much about their age. I could watch some "Justice League" episodes on TV and it's dated from the 1970's or something.

It's too bad Turtles Forever doesn't depict a more accurate version of the classic toon, otherwise it'd be a nice middle ground.

Yeah, it's a blast watching it and it really gets me in the mood for pizza. x) I ordered a large cheese pizza yesterday and whenever I get hungry I make sure I eat it with an episode. It's a blast from the past, and I feel really nostalgic even though I never grew up with this version, I honestly don't know why, but either way it's fun.

Awesome!!! Just imagine they would start selling TMNT merchandise pizzas we could eat during any episode or a cook book for Turtle pizza. Even though, at least as of now, I would be too afraid to try any.

That's wonderful you feel this way. For me it was like returning home after a long time even though I never saw the English episodes before. Everything is just so cheerful and enjoyable, yet full of fascinating characters and ideas, making episode marathons an amazing experience. :tsmile:
