Man, it feels like such a long time ago, although only removed 3 years. In 2009, to celebrate the TMNT's 25th Anniversary, Tribeca put together a TMNT fan convention in New York City. On top of hosting Kevin Eastman and Ernie Reyes, Jr., they screened the first movie on a huge screen over-looking the water to cap off the night. It was such a big deal in NYC that the Empire State Building was lit green for the night. So cool.

I have such fond memories of that day: being interviewed by ESPN, singing the original TMNT theme song on camera, talking with Ernie Reyes, Jr., receiving the cardboard cut-out 2k3 masks. It was just a great time to be a Turtles fan.

Who else was there? I remember at least Powder, a fellow Long Islander, was present, although I didn't "know" him at the time: in fact I wasn't very active on the 'Drome until after the festival. I guess you could say the festival propelled me to become far more active in the TMNT community than I was previously.

The highlight for me probably was being interviewed by Ray Carsillo of ESPN and seeing the reel on YouTube! Check it out at 0:32:

So, who else was there? What are your fondest memories from that awesome day? Share your stories!

While I was not there, my friend was was working at a resturant in the area, sent me a photo of the four turtles walking around the streets in honor of the 25the anniversary. Then he called me to say he had just finished watching the first movie on the big screen. I was so jealous, then he sent me the photo of the screen he was talking about. I don't think I had ever been more upset about not being in New York.
