Shredder Animation Test!

Hello everyone, it has been a while since I have written in this forum. Some of you may know I have been involved developing a new animation software called Cacani. I have posted a link of my film "Calypso Agency" on this site.

The new link here will show you a quick test i did of the Shredder. I always did enjoyed drawing him. Therefore is no surprise that I used him for a test. Certainly the test is not about the shredder but to test the automatic inbetweening abilities of the software.
However I figure I will share with you all since is the shredder and this is the Turtle Forum.

What you will see:
1. See the two doodle rough keys of the Shredder
2. The clean up of the Two Key frames
3. Then you will see the extra frames created by the software in white.
The white means that there is no open regions and the software can color the frames
4. Then it shows the animation with the automatic coloring of the frames. I only colored one key frame and the system colored the rest of the sequence.

Edit: I added an older test of one of the Turtles punching. The test consist of only two key frames. and the software created the in-betweens.

that's pretty cool.. looks like a neat little program.. sort of reminds me of a program from i think 1993, and possibly on a mac. you drew, the thing then animated your drawings :).


it's a shame you don't do comic book art, i'm looking for someone to help out :).

The software has take bout 10 years in development so it started before me. I helped improve in some respects. There was a mac version about two years ago but at this stage it is only for the windows operating system.

Another tid bit, the whole process from drawing the rough frames until fully colored took me 1 hour and 35 minutes to do. That is pretty good time without a single extra person involved.

sounds like the process i go through creating the cgi episode. two hours per scene.. only me :)

Very interesting! Is this Cacani program still in the early stages of development, or is this something that might be available in the near future?

Cacani is in a state where release may be closer than some people who had been following it may think.

There are some initiatives with the technology. Training for the software will commence this year.

On a different note:

CGI, two hours includes creating the models from scratch, rigging them and animating them? Then that is very very good indeed.

Traditional animation has not gotten the attention in the form of new tools to help studios make animation at lower cost, and retain high quality. That is the purpose and creation of this software.

I do tend to us TMNT characters when testing since i have drawn them for so long

I may upload other simple test.

Here is another test where I have a turtle punching.
The consist of 2 Key Drawings and the all of the inbetweens were done automatically by Cacani.

I am playing with the idea of making a new thread where I can take request of Turtle characters and i will do a simple test. Just thinking about it though.:tcool:

It isn't any turtle in particular, however I liked drawing Raph the best. You could say it is him except his sais aren't in. The Bandana was simplified as well.

Frankly speaking, I drew so many versions and all of them ( Shredders).There were too many variation of different details among the seasons for me to remember. i am not sure which version this one is. Is probably a mixed from what I remember of my shows.

Maybe I should try drawing some keys of the Triceraton Shredder that was never animated. If I can squeeze some time.
