new Nickelodeon TMNT too "cute"

Is it just me or anybody else think the new Nickelodeon TMNT are too "cute" looking? They just dont look very menacing like the TMNT should be, I mean they are often smiling and making silly faces, plus they seem a lot shorter than the turtles are usually depicted. Even the 2007 cgi movie turtles looked way cooler than these new ones, in my opinion. After watching the trailer for the new Nickelodeon show, "Mikey" says something at the end and his voice sounds like that of an 8 year old. Also their faces look too flat and the overall body design looks kinda weird, too polygon-like, and the newly added third toe looks kinda weird. Just my 2 cents.

They're supposed to be a bit younger than other incarnations, hence why April is also 16.

The Turtles look like they might only be around 13-15 year olds in this one, and act like real teenagers. I think they look fine. As long as the action sequences are good and there is real danger in the episodes it should be fine.

And the '87 cartoon was corny. We just didn't see it as young kids. It's for kids, it's supposed to be 'cute'. It's also been said that the show was going to be geared to the kids, not us adult cynics. They're supposed to sound young.

I understand it's your personal preference, but it's supposed to be that way. I don't like all the anime references, but I knew it was there. I'll just get used to it.

At least the 1987 cartoon also started out fairly serious in its early episodes. It seems like the first episode is almost as good as the first episode of Season 3 in the OT, pretty much abandoning its early roots. It sort of mirrors those "junior cartoons" of the '80s: Muppet Babies (at least it worked with the pop culture references/jokes), Baby Looney Tunes, Flinstones Kids, and a Pup named Scooby-Doo. Sure, technology has changed, but if Muppet Babies came out today, it would be a similar 3D style with probably the Matrix instead of Star Wars in certain clips.

I'm all for the " menacing, badass dark turtles" but since this is the way this particular version of the show is going, I'm going to look at it for what it is, which in my mind is a previous version of everything else.

And they are incredibly cute and by what I've seen so far it's fun show and they seem to have stuck with their personalities really well.I think kids will love it.

Hopefully if the movie does come out it we'll have the " dark" version.

Im sorry but I don't care that they have blades. I look at that picture and it's goofy and ridiculous. It doesn't make me say 'oh man! They be badass!' it's like Howard the duck and that's the joke. The whole idea started out to parody Frank Miller's grimdark comics by putting goofy cartoon characters in the same situations.

Sure you can argue that if it were real it'd be scary but that applies to a lot of things.

Watching the new clips from the con. I'm not really liking how the fighting is directed and the cute anime moments reminds me of the 2010 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers remix which was unnecessary and plain silly to me.
Still, keeping an open mind that it's going to be a cool show and popular to kids.

Personally im loving the art direction and style of the new show. The first teaser we saw i was not too sure about but after this weekend with the intro and the other clips they have shown us i am completely sold. I really dig the looks of the turtles and the comic/anime influences.

I guess some people are still having a hard time with the fact that Nickelodeon bought the TMNT from Mirage. Nobody really knows what to expect. I didn't know that they are supposed to be younger versions of the TMNT than what they always were, I guess that pretty much explains my question of why they look so small and cute/childish.
