So in the video from the TMNT Comic Con panel, Rat King's design was revealed. What do you think of RK's new look? Hate it, Love it, or mixed feelings? I think he looks alright, certainly the creepest Rat King design since the 2k3 version.

He's not suppose to look like Bishop. Rat King was only Bishop's clone in the 4kids cartoon. This is a completely different TMNT cartoon.

It did not work at first which is why I posted initially. This time it worked. So Rat King is human,but he looks like The Scarecrow redsign from Batman:The Animated Series. He needs bandages not a black coat! Tragg look fine though!

I quite like it. As redesigns go it works pretty well, it may not be instantly recognisable as the Rat King but it's neither goofy or fanboy kewl as one might expect and looks creepy which for the character.

The lack of muscles is fine. Hell I always pictured Rat King as rather frail (though not to this extent) but the rest just is meh. Hopefully the Scarecrow gear will disappear and we can get more Rat King in the Rat King, but we'll see.

I'll give it a chance of course but as I've said before my expectations aren't very high. Though maybe that's a good thing. It still has a chance to really surprise me. Good writing could save the series for me. The more I see of this and IDW the more I think the turtles isn't what it used to be and honestly isn't what I loved it for. I'm still riding IDW out a year in so we'll see. They score points with me for re-releasing the old material and that's honestly one of the only reasons I even buy the on going. I want to support them so I can finally have all the Mirage stuff collected in HC, not to mention the stuff never released.

Rat King was in the OT. He was a bit of a misunderstood chap. Kidnapped April a bunch of times. Named one of his rats Mickey. *lol*

The new design was not what I was expecting. It is creepy and zombie-esque. It maybe that his appearance will make more sense once he appears in the series. From what Nieli mentioned at the Comic Con panel, this Rat King will be a "sad, sympathetic villain." So the difference in appearance may hint at the different storyline that this version of the character will have.

The disfigured look adds the feel that he may be repulsive on the outside but could be a good person yet people aren't willing to find out. It leads to judging a book by its cover. How the more tragic it would be then.

That is what made Mr. Freeze one of the best villains of that sereis. I have a feeling that if they go this route with Rat King it could be great. Shredder is already straight up evil, we don't need Rat King to be a carbon copy. Can you imagine if Splinter even feels sorry for him? Oh and imagine a City At War storyline with this Rat King.

I can dig the reasoning behind the change in the Rat King's physique. I'm pretty neutral about how his clothing has been redesigned. I can also dig the sympathetic angle they're going for story wise. However, I do really really really hope that the classic "rags and bandages" look is hidden under that long coat and is eventually revealed.

He looks neat, I guess. Definitely made me catch my breath a little after seeing the concept (with and without the eye bandage). Like most have said already, it does make sense for him to look rather thin and mal-nourished from living in the sewers.


As for his black garb, I'm thinking those are probably for a disguise or some sort of protection from direct sunlight should he ever go to the surface.

They are used to violent movies and video games and because of that it will be very hard for them to get scared.I've been watching horror films almost my whole life, but when I saw that Invader Zim episode where his steals other peoples organs in order to seem more human it scared the crap out of me when I was 14. I even had a Nightmare that night that Zim was trying to steal my organs because I knew he was a alien.

I don't think a creepy design like this is enough to scare a child, though. I mean, everyone else remembers how popular the Goosebumps books and the Nick show Are You Afraid of The Dark were, right? Kid's can take certain level of creepiness. I highly doubt this show will be to much for a kid to handle.

Insane in membrane was aired here in Greece and no one complained. Why American parents complain about violence when no one else realy cares about it? Dont they understand that violence in carttons movies and video games can not make people violent?

Ah, so that's where "derp" as the new euphenism for "retard" came about. I wondered. In any case, as other people have pointed out,episodes not appearing because a network deemed it inappropriate =/= a network not showing an episode because of parental complaints. And if the one legit case you bring up (My Little Pony) doesn't have anything to do with it being too violent or scary, I feel pretty safe in thinking TMNT's probably safe.


As for the actual design...

I like it. It's distinctive, original, and does a good job of feeling creepy. The Rat King has always been a character that has supported wildly different takes, so I'm hoping the creators here feel free to go wild with the character.
