Nickelodeon has released a new trailer once again!

And this time, unlike the last 15 times, I think i'm going to be the first to post in on the drome! (If i'm not, please tell me)

This one is a very interesting one, and it reminds me more of the original toon. Why? because of the goofy bad guys. But don't get me wrong, the still look cool!

Here you got, http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/07/20/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-trailer-nickelodeon/

Soo, what do you guys think?

if you think back to all the incarnations of TMNT that appeared on TV, it seems like they all have enemies like that here and there.

I was surprised Dogpound and Fishface weren't in it seeing as how their in the intro. Looks like the Kraang have different colored bodies, one like the acton figure and one a neon blue. Hey, first time April's had a line in these trailers! I'm in love with the new Shredder's voice. It's like James Avery and James Earl Jones voices blended together.

Did anyone else think Mikey's face at the end looked like Po from Kong Fu Panda?

Really dig Stinkweed's design since I think it's fairly unique to have a plant-like villain in most kid's shows nowadays.

Awesome! i love all the crazy mutant villains! it reminds me of the OT, also, when Mikey hits the kraang brain with his nunchucks, we saw that same clip in the meet kraang trailer, and in this video it looks like the turtles aren't in the same place as they were in the meet Kraang trailer. I can't wait to see this show! also i loved when Mikey was like "were gonna be famous!" :tlol:

Seems to me most of these mutants won't have any actual "character" and will just be random monsters...similar to the way mutants were treated in the 4kids series or the monsters in the 4th movie.

I think Dogpound and Fishface will probably be the only ones who speak...the others will just be random monsters.

I don't care too much for Shredder's new voice.

And I don't get why Rob Paulsen made Donatello sound like his old Raphael voice.

I got to say, while I'm still iffy on the new show, I really don't like April's line too much, I mean just the way it sounds as she says it, and the line itself, it's kinda, well, kinda stating the obvious.

And if you ask me it sounds a bit rude when you consider the turtles are mutants too. She could of left out the mutant part of her sentence.

:oWhoa! I can't belive it's getting that many dislikes!

Don't be that surprised.

The thing is; this is a Nickelodeon CGI show.

Nick's CGI shows have not been that great...

You have the shows that are based off of CGI movies like Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar; they pretty much just recycle old jokes from the movies.

So I assumed that one of the reasons it has so many dislikes, is it's because of Nick's history with CGI shows.

Then again; I see a lot of bad cartoons and shows out there for kids that somehow get a ton of episodes and seasons. So it may not appeal to the old generation but if there's enough of the new generation to like it; it'll last for a while.

Heck look at how long Spongebob and the Fairly Oddparents have been going on.

Anyone notice they repeated the same scene with the Kraang coming out of its body, the turtles being surprised, and then Mike hitting it with his nunchucks? But the background is different from the "Meet the Kraang" trailer.

I REALLY hope this doesn't mean they're reusing scenes in a totally separate episode...

They said at the comic-con panel that the Kraang trailer was just something they put together to show the animation style. It's not a clip from one of the episodes. Think of it more as a pilot.

:oWhoa! I can't belive it's getting that many dislikes!

I wouldn't sweat it like someone said if it's not COD or Gears of War people are going to hate on it. As for me I think the show looks good not sure what people are really complaining about or what they're expecting from this show. My only fear is that the other mutants are dumb as hell and one-dimensional.

Another reason for the thumbs down could be TMNT '87 loyalist like Transformers G1 fans they hate anything from that's not from that era. There's a dude on YouTube that made like four videos ranting about them. Back to the trailers I could understand if the show was Fanboy and Chum Chum ugly but the turtles and Splinter look good and April looks alright.

As for tone I think with shows like Adventure Time and Regular Show out there it probably given the writers some room to work with to make it kid friendly but it still can bring in people who grew up with the last two Ninja Turtles series.

Yeah the hate on youtube is really strong for the Nick Turtles. People hate change though. I hope that's all it is.

Even I, being the hardcore turtles fan that I am, am not going to be completely sold on the new show until after I see a full episode. There are too many things about the previews that are drawing my attention and I'm not sure if it's going to be to my liking.

All I know for certain at this point is the turtles themselves *LOOK* great.

Nickelodeon spent a lot of money to buy out the TMNT license, they've clearly spent a lot of money on the show, and the entire future of the property, be it comics, video games, action figures, live action films and future seasons of the cartoon are ALL DEPENDING on how well this show turns out.

I am 100% on its side. Unless it sucks.

Most of them might have never watched any episode of tmnt. Just ignore them. I am sure it will lot of new fans thanks to Nick.

I just finished reading all the comments. And the majority of them are against it. These comments are from people who have never watched tmnt before or from some idiots who dont even know what tmnt is. Trailer looks good, reminds me of the '87 series. I just hope they won't rely to much on "mutant of the day" filler episodes.

Shredder looks fantastic. So far I'm getting the same feeling from him as I did with the '03 Shredder. He really seems threatening.

I can't say I like this April very much. I'm being shortsighted here but I'm too much used to the role April played in the '87 and '03 series. Not saying she's bad, but I guess her character will just have to grow on me.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles god lot of new fans recetly thanks to IDW comic, and we will get even more new fans when Nick show starts. Because of that it dosent matter if we lost a few fans that dont care for anything else than the 1987 cartoons the new fans that will come from Nick show and IDW will be much more especialy from Nick as it is one of the most popular cartoon networks right now.

I am not going to watch it if I don't like it just because it has the Turtles' name stamped on it. I don't play that way. I am not going to follow it off a cliff because "OMG! It's Ninja Turtles!". You could label other things the same way and call it whatever you like, but it's still what it is.

Also, because they're part of the tired old, "everything new sucks, period" mentality that plagues Youtube. I challenge anyone here to find a classic rap video that doesn't have a Lil' Wayne diss in the first page of comments, or a classic cartoon video that doesn't have some idiot griping about modern cartoons in general. I saw one such video with a particular idiotic allegation that modern children's cartoons are nothing but fart jokes and swearing, which goes a long way towards proving she hasn't even watched any modern children's cartoons.

The whole thing is garbage; we used to make fun of stupid old farts with these sorts of sentiments, but now that such nostalgic windbags can hide behind a computer screen they just won't shut up about it. I watch the Hub, and every single modern show I've seen based on a Hasbro property is by-far better than its 1980s counterpart, and despite the ridiculous ongoing allegation of "fart jokes," in fact toilet humor in cartoons has been in very steep decline since its height in the 1990s.

I'm a bit ashamed of these people.

I mean, I can't deny that the OT is one of those series that defined my childhood as well (along with Captain Planet, Thundercats, James Bond Jr., etc)

But I don't automatically asume that a series remake /newmake is bad.

And when I do.. I at least give it a chance.
For example... When I started watching 4kids Turtles cartoon, I started watching with a blank Notepad document. I intended to prove that the new cartoon would have a lot of animation mistakes as well.

And I actually did found mistakes... but a lot sooner than later, I stopped caring about finding them, and found myself enjoying the show... A LOT.

Then I understood that I became a hardcore TMNT fan again... And ever since, I live and breath TMNT. I like almost everything related to it. (Still have to man up to watch The Next Mutation). But the point is, I gave it a chance, and I found what is perhaps the best cartoon from the 2000's.

I wish the haters followed my example and at least tried it before complaining.

I let go off the OT Turtles the moment the credits for Turtles Forever started rolling.

That was just the ultimate fan-service for most Turtles fans, and now that those episodes (2k3 and OT) were officially concluded, it's time for a new TMNT universe to rise.

...wish other people would see it this way. Not everything should be an exact OT or 4kids toon clone. :(

Like, I had this friend who upon watching the training session said:
"Since when does Raphael beat Leonardo!?" and then went on with the usual animation bickering.

All of us here are TMNT fans or we wouldn't be here. However one of the biggest thing a lot of people don't seem to look at, or take into consideration, is that this really isn't for us. Nick isn't making this show for us older fans. We've been really lucky that Nick as included us in this as much as they have.

I'd love if this was more aimed at us. That we would see a lot of what made us fans, and kept us as fans. I'm fine with having the old shows on DVD. I watch them often, I love re-watching them over and over.

I'll give this show a go too. Overall I like what I'm seeing mostly. There are somethings that I'm not liking, but then again it isn't meant for me so there are going to be things I don't get or like. Maybe kids today dig it. I don't know.

First of all, Splinter is a damn RAT from the beginning, not a human and certainly not Hamato Yoshi. There was no Krang, no crazy mutant-of-the-week types, and bumbling goofy mutant henchmen. April is a young ADULT woman, not a preteen and the Turtles don't look TEN freakin' years old.

You think the Nick series is a train wreck based on a few clips? That's a load of garbage and you know it. The morons on YouTube aren't even Turtle fans and are making ridiculous comments of it looking like a PS1 game.

You seem to want to hate this from the start and it's people like you the fandom can do without.

So the OT shouldn't be considered an important part of TMNT history?

April is a young ADULT woman, not a preteen and the Turtles don't look TEN freakin' years old.

What's so wrong with making the turtles look like kids? In the mirage comics I think Splinter said they were like 13 in the first issue. As for teen April, I think it could actually work if they do it right.

I enjoyed reading the Youtube comments. They made me laugh because I agree with all of them. This series is a train wreck and undoubtedly one will ensue come September when it debuts to the masses. I will be watching that with a tub of popcorn and much amusement.

It's one thing to not have interest in something and ignore it (something the sensible people would do), but wishing it fails just because it doesn't live up to your expectations (which is retarded cuz the first episode hasn't even been aired yet) is extremely selfish.

So.. I never really got why this show had to be a remake of the remake of the remake.

I'm perfectly alright with Nickelodeon trying a new approach. So what if April is a pre-teen? (Though 16, as far as I know IS a teen).

If they keep using the same stories over, and over, and over again... then what's the point of watching? I'd just stick to my favorites, they haven't aged THAT much yet.

At least this show is going to have its own elements to make it memorable in a certain way. Just like The Next Mutation is famous for Venus (among other things) or the 2k3 toon for Utrom Shredder, or the 80's toon for Bebop and Rocksteady and Krang (among other things as well), etc. You get the idea.

Every series, IMO, needs its set of charms.

My whining is done for the good of the franchise. Wanting to see DVD releases we never got and hoping fan-favorite characters make a comeback in the new series.

I don't sit there hoping a cartoon would fail or saying it looks like a trainwreck based on some clips.

NEWSFLASH, every TMNT universe makes changes! Shredder was an Utrom in 4kids, Hamato Yoshi became a guardian, Karai became Shredder's adopted daughter, Baxter became 10 different cyborgs.

Almost everything that happened in the 4kids series was something that changed the franchise considerably compared to how it was before.

Absolutely

I don't watch Ultimate Spider-Man. Is it a big hit with kids? Yeah. Does it suck? Yes. I outgrew it's kind of comedic tone years ago, and it doesnt offer up any compelling stories that I expect from a Spider-Man show, so I don't invest my time in it. I'm glad for it's success though, and as long as it airs, it has a chance to improve next year. I don't go on forums proclaiming "I'm eating my popcorn with a big dumb smile on my face hoping it'll fail[/trollface]". No true fan should want ANY version of TMNT to fail, as it could easily generate new fans, just as USM creates new Spider-Man fans despite it's flaws.

Leo is very much like that. He's outgrown the kind of audience this TMNT show is aiming for, and he's a clear change-a-phobe too, obsessed with interpretations only being "one way" (the comics way), which is just a f*cking bore frankly. Who wants to see the same song covered when you have the original to enjoy? That's why I'm glad the 4Kids cartoon wasnt 100% the source material, and gradually divorced itself from it over the course of it's seven years. If I want the source material..boom, I'd read a comic/trade collection.

I'm going to be invested in this show not because of the comedy (which I got enough of from Teen Titans) but because I'm confident the stories will be very enriching and rise the show above the kind of humour it's aiming for.

While I may also enjoy Ultimate Spider-Man, the show itself has some pretty big problems that cripple it to some degree. Spider-Man is being portrayed as a rude, unresponsible jerk, the lack of character delevopment, and the self-contained story arcs that have no build up or reason. What opportunities that had were mostly wasted in exchange for "wacky, in-your-face" humor. It tried to be like Teen Titans and failed. Like I said, I still like the series, but it could have been so much better.

I always feel a bit weird commenting on the new show stuff recently because everyone has such passionate reaction to the clips while I personally can't judge anything from these clips. I REALLY can't.

They said in the interview that the training clip from the con was "rushed" and other clips were sort of rushed pilots to give an example of the animation. Because of this (and may be because I am an animation enthusiast/student) the clips feel rushed and incomplete.

Some of them even feel awkward in timing to me as if they are test renders (is that just me?). Some aspects of the clips are really nice and smooth while I also found them to be jumpy and slower at certain points.

I am still enjoying what I see so far and excited to see the show in the Fall, though I am honestly confused about whether we are seeing any actual finished, fine-tuned clips or not.

I mean, they obviously have to have some eps done or nearly completed since the show will appear in September. I am just starting to doubt if they have them actually tv ready or not.

Also, can get off of Rob's back about the voice already? It's not a bad fit for Don and the real target audience of the show (as in the kids who will buy the products and such) would not remember OT Raph let alone been around to have heard OT Raph.

After looking back at some voices, I have realized I can point out Rob's voice (they all sounded so different when I was a kid!), but that is because I have something to compare it to. Except for us older obsessed fans, most of the people that is going to be watching this show will not have that type of relationship with his voice.

Do you even care to deny any of the accusations you've gotten from people? If you're a Mirage purist, well fine, but you probably shouldn't be on a site founded largely upon the Fred Wolf series, and with the Mirage series being all-but dead at this point your dogmatism is just setting you up for endless disappointment.

Around a decade ago, I was sick of Fred Wolf purists attacking the 4Kids show, now I've gotten sick of Mirage Purists attacking the Fred Wolf show and anything else that doesn't conform to their views, and it all should be water under the bridge now that we're getting adaptations that try to appeal to everybody; hence I say to shell with purists in general.

I agree that most 1980s cartoons are overrated (though there's some popular ones in the 1990s that I think are, too), but I hold TMNT in higher regard than most of its breed just because it, unlike many others, was aware of its own stupidity and took shots at itself. Even if it was a lousy action cartoon and an even worse adaptation, in its situation it probably couldn't do any better, and at least it compensated by being a good sitcom.

That's not to say I'm all that happy with what it did, but it opened me up to thinking about how it should be. Even with no knowledge of the Mirage series, I thought it was lame that the turtles were fighting in the intro and video games, and yet not fighting in the show, and also lame that the villains in the show weren't much of a threat. I like the 2003 show better for this reason, but I'm quite certain that if not for the Fred Wolf series, I wouldn't even have watched the 2003 series--assuming the latter would even come to exist.

There are still fight scenes in most episodes of the OT, no matter how brief they are. There are some episodes with no fighting at all, but the other action in the episode sort of makes up for it.

The original cartoon still had plenty of action sequences of sorts in every episode.

The thing is, several of the 4Kids villains became parodies of themselves as well, Hun in particular. About the only time The Turtles are really ever down and out are for that long stretch in season one and when Karai took over the Shredder mantle...and even then she didnt pose too much of a threat after her initial story in the role was over.

Shredder and Krang still came far closer to acheiving their goals in the old 'toon than say, Ch'rell ever did. Ch'rell came the closest in the third season with that mammoth warship that was taken apart pretty easily, and then his biggest plot (destroying reality) was undone by Rocksteady and Bebop.

In truth, NOONE has ever been a long-term threat to the Turtles in these shows. We all know the Turtles will win in the end, that's what makes them comic book HEROES.

As for the old 'toon being a "lousy action show"...that's bunk. There were great action scenes in the early and later seasons. Middle-of-the-road I'll probably give you though.

And calling it a "worse adaptation" is also bunk. As it's largely seen as the definitive version of the whole franchise, and everything, from Turtles Forever, IDW, to (apparently) the new movie and the new Nick 'toon, borrows from it now. Outside of one movie that came the closest (while borrowing from the old show too), the TMNT has never had a picture-perfect adaptation, everything else has done it's own thing and created new mythos rather than coast on the laurels of estasblished ones. There is NO "worse adaptation" because everyone has their own views on how TMNT should be handled.

And people only ever say "kids shows from the 80s and 90s are overrated" to show how "cool" they are breaking away from majority opinion and to reflect how they age. There's nothing wrong with those shows, you've just outgrown them. Eventually (hell it's probably started by now), you are going to get people saying how "overrated" the cartoons from the early 2000s were too.

Genesis

Eh, I'm with Konchadunga. His words make a lot of sense, at least in this case. To say the OT had "plenty of action" is generous at best, and it implies that the action was all-throughout (Seasons 1 and 7, maybe), and we know that's not the case. The severe lack of action is what made me care significantly less for the OT as I grew up, (though the first movie never lost its charm, to me).

As for the bad adaptation bit, it's easy to say that it's all open to interpretation now, but back then, Eastman and Laird's comics were all that existed. From that perspective, the cartoon was a poor adaptation, if not a really peculiar one. Now, (because of the OT, really) it's much easier to accept interpretations that go way left field.

You wanna talk about "bunk," yet you ignore suspension of disbelief to proclaim that all the Turtles' villains have zero threat value, because the Turtles are the heroes, so we know they'll win? Come on, that'd be a double-standard to only apply that to the 2k3 series.

What are you talking about? There are big action sequences in every episode. The OT NEVER lacked an action sequence in most episodes. Even some of the middle eps that lacked a fight scene still had a huge action sequence.

Maybe some of you should rewatch the OT on DVD because you don't remember it very well.

I'm going to have to agree with Genesis... I've been watching the old toon and on season 2 (will be getting season 3 soon) so far... so far, it's lacking in the action sequence, the only one that I think was any fun, was in "the incredible shrinking turtles" where Shredder beat the turtles, and even then it was lack luster

CyberCubed, I really think we define action sequences quite differently.

If standing around and making witty comments while throwing stuff at the enemies counts as an action scene, then the OT was positively loaded with 'em.

Season 7 was one of the best sets of episodes for action scenes, but those certainly didn't define the OT as a whole. I know you're much more forgiving to it, but you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who agrees that there was solid action in every episode. Again, you're just being generous, and that's okay. We all cut our favourite incarnations a good bit of slack for their faults.

Although the comics are the creaters the ot cartoon is really the franchise in it's own i mean come on now people bought the figures because of the show people saw the first movie because of the show the reason there are sites like this is because of that show and if you grew up in the 80's this was one of the best cartoons out there it was great for it's time all the cartoons in that era were the same

That's not what I'm talking about at all. Robots attacking the Turtles, people being saved at the last minute, characters being attacked by lasers, etc.

Genesis basically summed up my stance well, but just for some clarification, let me address each point.

The reason I say Ch'rell was more of a threat is that he was actually played as a straight villain, typically came off as a more competent fighter, and owing to the less episodic nature of the series, it took the turtles longer to defeat him at times than it took them to defeat OT Shredder. (Who was often nailed at the end of every episode, and that he escaped isn't an excuse to say he was competent, because they just did that to keep the show formulaic.)

Make no mistake, though, I am not a Ch'rell fan. Making him an alien in itself didn't bother me as much as it did many people, but the way he just kept coming back when he was so one-dimensional compared to the show's other villains just wore my patience past breaking point, and that's even before they introduced other versions of Shredder. Mirage Shredder is much better for actually having a human motive to do what he did, and Fred Wolf Shredder is the most likeable of all because he wasn't just a cliche villain; he was an actual character who was fun to watch and hear regardless of what he was doing. Still, due to the changed nature of that show, most of the time he never felt like a menace.

As for the old 'toon being a "lousy action show"...that's bunk. There were great action scenes in the early and later seasons. Middle-of-the-road I'll probably give you though.

Middle-of-the-road is what I meant, and unfortunately it was also most of the show. While ostensibly it had a lot of action, too much of that was slapstick as opposed to fighting.

Genesis said it best: When I said it was a "worse" adaptation, I was referring to its inaccuracy to the source material. Also, note the full statement: I was saying it was a worse adaptation than it was an action cartoon; not that it was a worse adaptation than other TMNT series were--although if accuracy to the Mirage comics was the parameter, that would be true as well. I agree that accuracy to the Mirage comics shouldn't be the parameter now, but at the time the Fred Wolf show was new, that was the only possible parameter.

And people only ever say "kids shows from the 80s and 90s are overrated" to show how "cool" they are breaking away from majority opinion and to reflect how they age.

How dare you presume to tell me what my motive is for my opinion; you bigoted shellhead?! Do you realize that a lot of the people who whine about how much better the 1980s and 1990s are also think they're cool for breaking away from the majority opinion? In fact these people are largely the reason I consider those shows overrated; not necessarily bad, but not deserving of the rose-tinted treatment they get.

There's nothing wrong with those shows, you've just outgrown them.

Then kindly explain why I still watch action cartoons today. If everything were as of equal quality as you allege it is, then when I "grew out of" 1980s and 1990s shows, logically I would have grown out of all of such shows. Oh wait; you did give an explanation, it's just pitiful.

Eventually (hell it's probably started by now), you are going to get people saying how "overrated" the cartoons from the early 2000s were too.

Again; get the shell off of your high horse and quit accusing me of being unable to think objectively. I have done nothing to solicit that. The truth is that no; I can think objectively. That doesn't just cease to be true when I happen to arrive at different opinions than you or most people do, and I can tell you that when I look back on cartoons of the 2000s, it is in fact, a mixed bag; effectively disproving your thesis that I am concluding every show from that decade is overrated now that it is past.

Some examples: I found TMNT 2003 my favorite show of the decade. Rewatching it now, it's got some problems I didn't care about as a teen; meanwhile rewatching TMNT 1987 as an adult, it has a lot of humor I didn't appreciate as a kid--yet I still consider 2003 to be the better show, and that opinion isn't changing anytime soon. I have my reasons; I suggest you watch this video to explain them: I'm not asking you to agree with this; I'm just saying that I mostly do and so posting this saves me a wall of text. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYvP7ASrmg8) Meanwhile, I feel W.I.T.C.H. is still an underrated gem, that it did the "girl-centered-fantasy-show-with-actual-character-diversity-and-development" thing before and better than My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic does, and wish W.I.T.C.H. got the praise for doing that instead. These days, I like Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog better than I did as a kid, while I like the so-called SatAM a lot less than I did then, but I still think both are far superior to the 2000s' own Sonic X.

I think I've made my point. Your thesis about my inobjectivity is rude and wrong, so shut up and seriously; learn some tact. I spent last post taking your side against Leo Mystic, and all the thanks you give me is that sort of demeaning accusation? Shame on you! You need to learn some manners; badly.
