Hey everybody!

So, I figured as a "re-activated" member of the Technodrome forums, I'd share something I'm currently working on.

Being a musician, I have contributed lots of my time to making covers, whether it is simply a song I love or related to one of my geeky fandoms. While I don't have any professional music programs, I have been working on Garage Band, and for a basic music program, it's pretty good.

Right now, I'm working on the TMNT Opening Mash-Up cover. To explain what it looks like, it's basically the combination of the 80s theme and the 2012 theme. Yeah, I know what you're thinking: "Isn't the 2012 theme the EXACT same thing as the 80s theme?"

From my point of view, it's not. Besides rapping, the melodies between those two themes are entirely the same, as well as the emphasis on the harmony and the use of instruments.

Now, I'm not saying I hate the 2012 version. Quite on the contrary, I actually love it. It's a nice homage to the 80s theme, and I find the rapping actually quite catching. But I'd like to add some elements of the 80s theme. In other words, make a mash-up of the two. ;D

Having no professional musicians at my disposition, I have to unfortunately rely on computer-based instruments, midis, soundpools and such. So guitar-solo comes out of the question. I've already finished the instrumental to make this cover, and once I've done some vocal recording, I'll post a preview of it; you might actually see it in the following days.

Why post a preview? Well, being a perfectionist, I'd like to get great feedback so I can work harder on the cover and make it the better, if not the best work I've ever made.

Why not post the full version? I'm actually waiting till September 29th, when the first TMNT 2012 episode airs. This song is my way of celebrating that day. Other than that, I'll have enough time to work some things out and add additional stuff.

Speaking of additional stuff, would any of you be interested in lending your voices to shout out the turtles' name? It's for the rapping part, where the rapper does a roll call of the turtles' name, and I figured it would be nice to hear the voices of dedicated fans in it.

Oh, they should also shout "Turtle Power!"

... Um, yeah, so what do you guys think?

I think it's a great idea!
Looking forward to hearing it! :)
From your YouTube channel I see you're a Transformers fan as well?
That's so awesome, 'cause I LOVE Transformers, I'm a huge fan!

Thanks, I appreciate the praise, and thanks for checking out YT channel. :D

Oh, a fellow Transfan? ;P Yeah I'm a real big fan of the franchise too; I'm looking to buying the upcoming sequel, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

It's funny, because I first started out as a TMNT fan before becoming a Transfan. How cool is that? ;D

Anyway, I'll upload soon enough a preview of it. Thanks for your attention so far! ;D

Actually, the melody for the 2012 theme is sort of a variation of the 1987 theme, though it is still closer than what the Red Sky theme is to the 1987 theme. Ideally, I would have the lyrical portions of the 1987 theme over-layer the rap for the greatest effect. Then there's always the option of extending out the theme, though I prefer the original 60-second length so it feels natural. And in terms of animation, you can either simply use the Nick intro or mash both the 1987 and Nick intros together. I'm looking forward to seeing this completed if it comes to fruition.

Hey everybody, it's been a while.
All right, so the first version of the complete cover is up. This video is viewable only on this webpage for a reason.
Like I've said before, I'll upload this song on the day when Nick broadcasts the first episode to celebrate its release. In the meantime, I'm uploading it in advance to show you what I've done and to hopefully get some good advice on what should be changed and worked on to make it better. Once I've received a healthy amount of recommendations, I'll take it back down and work on it.
Honestly, I'm still not satisfied with it... Oh well, here goes:

All right, this is the final version. I upped the volume in some parts, and added something in the end, but I think that'll do... ;P
Tell me what you think!

Okay, since a lot of people have asked me for the instrumental, I've decided to share it with my fellow TMNT fans.
If you'd like to make a cover out of it, be sure to credit me for making the instrumental; it was hard work, after all.
Enjoy! ;D
