So, about 2 months ago, my friend tells me to watch this show, Naruto. I figured I'd give it a shot. Now I'm about 300 episodes in. This is, incidentally, why I haven't utility gotten any more work done on my TMNT card game (if you've seen Naruto, you'd understand). Well, I got the idea to do a fan work (preferably comic, but I have no artist), that's a sort of crossover type thing between the TMNT and Naruto. Not like, the Usagi Yojimbo crossovers involving actual world crossing, but like a retelling of the turtles if they lived in a world like that of Naruto. For instance, ninja are an accepted part of the world. Other things like jutsu, and Chakra, elemental natures, jinchuriki, tailed beasts, etc would also be involved.

My basic idea is that mutant animals are jinchuriki. They take on the animal characteristics of the tailed beast sealed inside them. The turtles are the result of a special four-corners sealing jutsu, to split the Turtle Tailed Beast (in Naruto, that was the Three Tails. I forget its name. But I'll probably have to make a new list of tailed beasts anyway. There's still a bunch left to reveal, but to my knowledge there's no Tailed Beasts that are rats, plus I might want to make Rocksteady and Bebop, plus the mighty Mutanimals, jinchuriki of some kind). Slash may be involved on their backstory in some way. Also, he's, the implication is that they used to be human babies. I'm thinking Splinter is the Hokage of whatever the country is. He used to be Hamato Yoshi, but had to become a jinchuriki to seal away a tailed beast. He now lives in the shadows, I'm thinking he lives underground and Nobody is the official Hokage. The story would initially focus on April, a relatively new kunoichi (I'm thinking she's in a squad with Casey, Carter, and Kino), and her discovery of the Turtles, who get sent on secret missions (possibly they wear masks, a la the ANBU Black Ops). Any thoughts on this? Or is it something only I would want to read? Any suggestions as to powers of certain characters? I'm thinkin Leo needs the Chidori, which I guess means he needs the Sharingan too, April maybe has Byakugan, Casey has only Taijutsu, Baxter is a bug master like Shino, and.... That's all I got so far.

I think. Since you are going to radically change the turtles within an Naruto-esque retelling. Why not just do it as an original story rather then a fan story of the TMNT crossing with Naruto.

You can create your own characters, give it a special flavor and make it unique then just another fan story.

I just thought of sounded fun. It doesn't really make any sense with original characters...

Anyway, I wrote the first chapter, I'll go ahead and post it here when I have a chance. I also have a few friends doing artwork for it, I'll also by that up here when I can.

Heh, I have very little interest in Naruto-esque anything and generally ignore all fan-fiction. I didn't really understand your idea in the original post so I have no intelligent feedback to offer.

But if you make this wild idea into a fan comic, I would almost certainly read it and enjoy it. It sounds like it would be quite a novel idea!

Thanks. Right now, neither of my 2 artists are willing to commit to a full on comic, although they have agreed to concept art and character design, so I'm writing it as a story, although if they agree to of I can easily change it to a script format. We'll just have to see.

Sorry for double posting, but since there's been months between the last one I made I figured it was cool. K haven't actually abandoned this project, I'm just slow, and I keep getting distracted with other things. I have roughly the first few chapters plotted out but not written, and I have a partial character list , which I figured I'd share here. I also have a few pics I'll put up when, uh... Someone tells me how :(

Leonardo: Leader of the TMNT, and the only one to have passed the Chunin exams. Master of the katana, wielder of the Lightning Chakra Nature, and its ultimate jutsu, the Chidori.

Raphael: Genin TMNT, user of sais, very good in a fight, and user of the Fire Style, but has learned little in the way of signature jutsu. But, he is secretly curious about the summoning jutsu, but he has not yet made a contract with any clans of ninja animals. What is his connection to the young Kame Clan shinobi Casey Jones, and the mysterious Nightwatcher?

Michelangelo: The fastest TMNT. While possessing the Earth Chakra, he prefers to use his suberb Taijutsu, especially in concert with his nunchaku. He's laid back and fun loving, and seems to have a connection with Mitsu...

Donatello: The smartest TMNT, Don fights primarily with his mind (and bo staff). He often sits in the back, analyzing the fightx and occasionally making use of Water Chakra Nature and his puppet, Metalhead.

April O'Neil: A young kunoichi of the Kame Clan. Meets the turtles during a chance encounter with Purple Dragon shinobi.

Casey Jones: An unusual ninja, he can use no Genjutsu or Ninjutsu at all. He is abnormally talented in Taijutsu however, which makes up for his deficiencies. He has a mysterious connection to an unusual vigilante fighting Purple Dragons with sports equipment.

Minor Characters (at least at the beginning):

Kirby: A retired shinobi, famous for his unusual jutsu of bringing whatever he draws to life. Friend of Donatello.

Lord Norinaga: The Feudal Lord of New York City.

Kenshin: Son of the Feudal Lord, and head of the Guardian Samurai 12, Norinaga's personal bodyguards

Sato and Oshi: Members of the Guardian Samurai 12. Assigned the task of defeating Nightwatcher and the masked vigilante.

Chote: A mysterious member of the Guardian Samurai 12, who always stands in shadow wherever Norinaga goes.

Er, I'll get to the rest later.

Gosei Hattori: A member of the Guardian Samurai 12

I know what it's like to try and get people to commit for a fancomic/any project requiring an illustration. I got lucky at times, but my own problems and their scheduling got in the way eventually, so good luck with that aspect of your project.
