Do you love Pizza because of the 1987 Ninja Turtles cartoon?

The 1987 Ninja Turtles characters always had such a good time talking about Pizza, eating pizza, etc. Pizza may as well be considered a regular character in the series. As a young kid you absolutely loved the TMNT cartoon, you watched them eat pizza/love pizza, and you ate pizza along with the show. Growing up you continued your love for Pizza, it is one of the most delicious foods that you can think of. Today you still pizza, and you still love the TMNT.

Is you current love for pizza co-related with your childhood memories of watching the TMNT? When you eat pizza do you think of the TMNT?

I don't eat pizza that often ( trying to stay healthy and what not) but I love pizza probably my favorite food and of course watching the show did remind me of it.

I remember when I was a little Boy I always asked my parents to get a Pizza or go to the Pizzaria because maybe the Turtles would show up to.
I also tried several variations like the turtles did, when we made our Pizza ourselves but most of them didn't tast good ^^

I bet this is a yes from at least 75% of Dromers. Need I remind you of how buddy/buddy the turtles were with Pizza Hut? I would beg my parents to take me to the Hut, it was HUGELY popular with kids throughout the early 90's and I am positive that the Turtles were a big part of that. I still cant watch an episode of the OT and not get a craving for a slice.

I would like to think I'd have fallen in love with pizza anyway because it is my favorite food even today - I mean, cheese, tomato sauce, maybe some meat, what's NOT to love? I'm big on cheese anyway.

That said though, I'd be lying if I said this wasn't a likely origin of my pizza love even if it just continued when I was 'out' of Turtles for a while.

I have always loved Pizza. Probably before the Turtles came around (Can't really be sure). I do think the them when I'm eating, but I was never influenced to try different toppings.
Our family never really varied our routines. It wasn't till I met my wife (girlfriend at the time) when she introduced me to all the wonderful assortments that are out there.
Now I don't think we ever get the same topping combination, if we can help it.

For some reason I didn't like pizza as a child (I know, crazy, right?) but after I was introduced to TMNT, I was encouraged to try it more often and eventually got to a point where I loved it. Shreddhead's statement definitely applied in my case--TMNT was all the reason I needed to go to Pizza Hut.

While we're on the subject of pizza, I'm curious -- has anyone here ever used a TMNT recipe for pizza and actually eaten it? (Like this guy did? (http://www.comicsalliance.com/2011/05/12/gross-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-pizzas-recreated-eaten-video/)) That could be a fun project.

I was a preteen when the 80s turtles were on TV. I think all people (and in particular, kids) love pizza by nature -- it's simply a great food that is both delicious and very cost-effective in feeding a lot of people. However, I think there's no denying that TMNT contributed to an EXPLOSION in popularity of pizza and it probably saw a good 30-50% or more increase in sales across the board throughout the late 80s and early 90s.

I think to this day, the TMNT's influence on pizza probably has something to do with how popular it is.

I've noticed Pizza Hut's slogan is Makin' it Great once again, hopefully a sign that Nick will return the TMNT to its popularity. That said, you have episodes like "Cowabunga, Shredhead" and "Once Upon a Time Machine" in which too much pizza is no good for you (specifically the later). However, I've recently grown to enjoy sushi, and that was because of the TMNT. It's really good, and there are so many varieties to choose from just like pizza. In fact I'd like to try a pizza topped with a piece of sushi on each slice soon to get the best of both worlds!

Kids today don't have the turtles and they love pizza, most of us would love pizza even if TMNT didn't exist.

In conclusion I don't love pizza because of the turtles but I do think of the turtles and associate pizza with it and like to eat pizza if I'm in a turtles mood.

To be honest, Pizza wasn't my main course until I saw the 1990 live-action movie. When I saw the cartoon and they were eating pizza, I didn't get excited and want to eat pizza too.

Then, when I saw Ninja Turtles II, and the opening credits with everyone eating pizza...I guess I got hungry.

Quite possibly, it could help with my love of pizza. Heck, before chicken parmesan, it was my favorite food. Regardless, as it would seem, my mom loved her some cheeseburgers when she was pregnant with me, and likely as such, I love cheesy foods. I have to admit that I have wondered about the idea: Did pizza become even more popular than it was because of the 1987 TMNT cartoon? I even thought at one time to do research on pizza sales and everything but I still haven't done it. :tgrin:

I remember very early on only eating the crust of pizzas! :teek: Crazy huh? And this was during the beginning of the 1987 cartoon. But eventually I switched it around and love eating pizza! It's now one of, if not, my favorite foods. In a few pizza places, I don't eat the crust now! :tlol: So I'd like to think the turtles were a part of me liking and loving pizza.
