I took my first steps as an infant just so that I could approach the TV, which had a VHS of the film playing on it. True story. The rest is history.
I was 10 such a long time ago.
I was 11. Good times!

I was 5, and got it in on VHS for Christmas 1990. It did frighten me a little bit and forced me to gravitate back to the cartoon.

I had to have been four or five. I remember owning the VHS and watching it all the time. I loved it. I wasn't even aware of the second one until I had my Adenoids removed when I was six and my friend lent it to me to watch while I recovered. I still preferred the first. I think my favorite memory though was when I was seven and my mom took me out of school early to see the third movie. We had a guy from Nasa there talking to us and then I was called out for an emergency. I was all nervous then my mom was all its fine we're seeing Ninja Turtles 3

I was an impressionable 9 year-old boy! Unfortunately the first time I saw the film I fell asleep during the big fight scene with Shredder. My cousin woke me up just in time to see the part where Shredder got crushed by the garbage truck.
The first one? I was five. I actually do remember going to watch it very well. I also remember being very disappointed that neither Krang, Bebop or Rocksteady were anywhere to be seen. But yeah, even at five, I do remember a feeling of profound disappointment. Of course, as I've gotten older, I've grown to love it. It really is an excellent film.
10. I was mostly a fan of the Archie comic at that point.

I was just shy of 6 when it came out, and my mom took me to see it opening day. I started out as a fan of the action figures, then the cartoon, then the Archie series, so as a little kid some stuff confused the hell out of me, mostly Splinter not actually being Hamato Yoshi. Once I got a chance to read the Mirage series when I was a bit older, the movie instantly became infinitely more enjoyable.
Also, I remember my mom whining the entire car ride home and to everyone she talked to about taking me about Raphael saying "damn" multiple times.

I was 18. They had a marathon of all the Ninja Turtles movies on TV, probably because of the release of the then new TMNT movie. I didn't get to see the third movie though because it was already 11:00 and I had school the next day. From what I've read and seen of it though, I got lucky. Loved the movie then and I love it now.
My personal favorite scene is when Danny tells them he has some pizza leftover. Donatello get their first followed by Mikey and Don asks him "Question, do you like penicillin on your pizza?". Followed by the two singing that sad melody and slowy lowing it to the ground, like the Pizza was a fallen soldier. It's cheesy, but somthing about that scene makes me laugh everytime.

I was around 8 when I first heard of it coming out.
I found out after getting a box of that god awful cereal they had.
But for reasons unknown I didn't see the movie until I was 10 when we moved to Germany(My Parents were Military). I borrowed Parts 1 and 2 from a friend of my mom's.

I was about 12. TMNT was the last toyline/cartoon I was really into before I gave growing up and giving up toys a shot. It didn't work out too well.
I loved the movie though and would end up seeing it four times total at the theatre and countless times on video.

Oh yes i always did thought Hamato was Splinter but then i read the Mirage comics from my city's local video stores and learned that the toon was different from the comics. I thought the film was faithful to the comics while using toon elements.
Who else was surprised when Raph cussed? i did when i saw this on the big screen but didn't bother me.
And who else was shocked/surprised when they saw pictures of this movie in a Starlog magazine including seeing the trailer to it in theaters and seeing poster ads of it in comics especially Superman comics? i did when i was 8 and couldn't wait.

Who knew it would be the highest grossing spring movie ever and the highest grossing independent film since Halloween? afterall the film was a crowd pleaser and made as much big money for New Line as their Elm Street franchise.

The third movie I saw in the cinema (in Germany the film was released around 1994). But a connection to the comics was missing (in my childish opinion). Missed the Foot Gang !

I was 5. I'm pretty sure I saw it in theaters. I even remember seeing the "sewer lid" poster cased up at the theater with the lights all around it. I remember seeing the sequels, as well. When I saw TMNT II, there was some promotion going on where you traded into Kool-Aid packages (or proof of purchase tabs) and got a free Michelangelo dollar bill. They did something similar with the Jetsons movie, where you turned Kool-Aid points into the theater concession, and they handed you a free Jetsons "Spaceship" toy. I can vaguely find some trace of the Jetson promotion, but I can't find any trace of TMNT II promotion. It might have been something the theater itself was giving away, and nothing related to Kool Aid points.
I remember the Dick Tracy promotions. I think it was McDonalds (?) who had collectable cups.

I was 5 when I saw the movie in the theaters, I remember the theater was inside a shopping mall and in the mall section leading up to the theater they had a huge pinyata/float statue of Leonardo, it was amazing!!! when I saw TMNT 2 a year later, the same statue appeared again only this time instead of having 2 swords, 1 sword was taken away and he was holding the cannister of Ooze, I think I did see the third film there as well but i dont really remember that......seeing it was TMNT 3 it's probably best I don't :tlol:

I was 4 or 5 years old, the ORF (an austrian TVChannel) showed the first and second Movie back to back and my father and I sat on the couch and had a blast :D
I really loved those sundays when the both of us were just chilling in the living room and enjoyed every Movie-Marathon the ORF showed back then! My fondest memory is the time when we saw all 3 Indiana Jones Movies and all 3 Star Wars Movies and we were so hyped by the action scenes (and of course by the twist ending of the Empire Strikes back) :D

Same with me, I was not even 2 yet when the movie came out in theaters so I didn't get to see it when it first came out. My parents bought me the VHS when I was 3 or 4 though. I watched that movie more times than I can count when I was a kid and I still watch in regularly (on dvd now though). This is still one of my all time favorite movies.

I was ten, and I was in the fifth grade. I'd see previews of it on TV, and when it came out, I heard a lot of other kids talking about it and how great the movie was. So I knew I had to see it. My mother took me to see it, as well as my cousin, who was probably twelve and in the seventh grade. On the way there, my mother told me she really didn't want to see the movie, but I'm grateful that she took me. Besides, I can think of worse things she could watch with me. At least I was never into Garbage Pail Kids. From what I read about their feature film, it's pretty sick to sit through, and my mother would have hated that. I also feel bad for any parent who had to sit through that with their kids.
I've never owned the VHS, although I did have a VHS copy of the second movie. I bought the DVD of each movie in 2003 though. Hopefully I'll be able to get their Blu-ray counterparts.

I watched it with my mum on the big screen when I was 7 years old. I'll never forget that day, because there was an akward incident. Right in the middle of the movie my mum asked me to get her some extra popcorn, so I went outside to get her some and I saw the lady behind the counter was lying flat on the ground with weird foam coming out of her mouth. Me being 7years old, I ran to my mum and asked her if something could be wrong with this lady. My mum ran outside with me, and we actually saved the lady's life by calling an ambulance. She had some kinda allergic shock or something. Well the officials of the movie theater gave me the official poster and all the little pictures of the first turtle movie to reward me. I felt like a hero that day:tlol:

i was 5 or 6 years old. it was just myself, my mother and my brother, we went to the harlingen theater (now a club) it was at night i believe.
so as mom paid for the tickets, brother took me to look at the movie poster, then i asked what we were gonna see, he showed me the poster of the tmnt movie, 4 realistic turtle heads poking out of the sewer, i stared and thought to myself, "they're REAL?!" - as a kid i had the impression that cartoons could turn into real beings if they chose. - but again, i was a kid.
when i saw the film--well--- wow, it was dark and griddy. - i was used to dark and griddy things. mom didn't pussify me, she exposed me to rambo, bruce lee, conan the barbarian, all those action films.
but for me to hear raph say "DDDAAAAAAYYY'MMMMNNNN!" was a shocker!

I was 3 when TMNT hit the cinemas, so I probably didn't even know the turtles at that time. I watched the movie in television some years later on a Sunday afternoon, but I'm not sure if I was in kindergarten-age or if I already was going to elemetary school.
I sure was a TMNT- (or "TMHT-" as it was called here) fan in kindergarten as I had shirts and shoes. And it must've been 1993/1994 that I watched the cartoon show.

I will never forget the summer of 1989 as that was the year they filmed the TMNT movie in my hometown of Wilmington, NC. At that point I was taking Karate and loved the TMNT. I was lucky enough to get cast as one of the kids in Shredder's warehouse. I was a real dream come true It was one of the coolest weeks of my life, I got to meet Jame Saito who played Shredder, Elia Koteas, Ernie Rayes Jr. (stunt double for Don and later Keno in TMNT part 2)
It was really amazing to be a kid in the 80's a turtle fan and then to be in the movie. I can be scene running across the screen in the warehouse, that's the best thing a kid could ask for..

I was ten years old and I think it had just come out. My dad borrowed a pirated video tape off someone I think, because my parents REALLY did not want to go to the cinema and sit through it with me.
Although seeing the pirated version did mean I got to see the full version, unlike the British people who saw it at the cinema. Even in the recent DVD release, I think the scene with Mike and the punchbag in the barn was removed for some reason.

i was 13 when i first saw TMNT in theaters on it's original day of release. to this day, it was the longest movie line i had ever waited in. the line wrapped around the building. the theater manager decided to cancel the other film (two film theater) and play turtles in that one too. so tmnt was playing in both of the movie's theaters and there were STILL a ton of people who got turned away.
i LOVED that movie! it was a great meld of the Mirage comic and the cartoon. to this day, it is still one of my most favorite movies.

Not entirely sure when it came out in the UK, but I'd have been 9 or 10. Went to the first showing at the "local" cinema (which was really about 25 miles away) with my parents and loved every minute. I went back for the next 3 weekends to see it again, until my dad got thoroughly sick of it and refused to take me again...
I also got this awesome glow-in-the-dark cup at the first showing, still in use after all these years!

I actually have no idea how old I was. My parents thought I was too young to see it when it came out, so I think my first time was actually when it got played on TV (same with the second, though I actually didn't watch the third one until years later as my sister told me not to bother, lol). We've still got a VHS lying around somewhere from when I recorded it.

But I loved the movie so much I said screw all that and finally started watching the cartoon and never looked back. Thanks movie!

I watched this movie in 1993 on VHS - that's when it made it to my country. I was 9 at the time.
I watched the movie last night. To me its amazing how every single time I rewatch this movie I'm 9 all over again and reliving that wonderful time when I first watched it. Not many films can do that!

The weekend I saw the first TMNT was one of the best weekends of my childhood. There was a carnival in town that weekend. I went to that that Friday night. Saturday my mom dropped a friend and me off at the mall to hang out for a few hours and when she came to pick us up she offered to take us to see TMNT. We ate lunch at McDonald's and then headed to the Theatre to catch the film. They gave away free TMNT plush to anyone who bought a ticket to the movie. I got Mikey.

But, I received the VHS when it was released and watched it over and over again until the tape wore out. Even then, I still kept the box for sentimental reasons. I don't think I threw it out until I was around 18 or so.

Eight years old-saw it at the hyperdome in brisbane and remember it as clear as day.
I actually had the novel well before the release, wish eye still did (still have the ots lp though) TMNT were everywhere back then, pretty sure 60 minutes did a bit on them before the release, and I fondly remember watching 2 hours of crap on video hits to see the spin that wheel clip (little did i know that in general top 40 hits only get worse as time wears on and that crap is now golden)
I loved the movie, remember seeing SOTO too and being dissapointed.
T hey shouldnt dumb stuff down, I saw last of the mohicans at the same cinema hunt for red october too all around the same time I got all of them...its like people forget what being a kid is like and think they cant fathom most every concept/death/violence/sexuality all pretty much inevitable in life

I would have been atleast 6 years old.
We didn't see any movies in theaters when my sister and I were that young. I didn't even see Jurassic Park which came out a couple years later (and I REALLY want to see it in theaters in 3D because of that).
I just know I still have the tape, it's still in great condition considering it survived my childhood, and I always watched it...
Not as much as I watched Star Wars, which my mom threatened to tape over the movie if I didn't watch something else lol
But much of my childhood is blank from my memory so, to me, I just always had the VHS and I always watched it.

Sadly I repressed my TMNT fandom 'cus I was being made fun of in school for it.
Infact basically anything I did resulted in torment... video games, etc.
I was 9, and thought it was a movie for adults. I still love it.
It KINDA is... or atleast I think it's more adult in themes then the other movies.
I think it's why I watch it the most to this day.
And the TMNT movie 'cus the CG still looks great to me. I loved the teaser seeing them all just animated so seamlessly and gracefully as they were beautifully lit, running across roof tops.

Not necessarily, there are some members of both genders in their 40's and 50's. & besides that, what matters is your love for the turtles, not whether or not it's age appropriate. The turtles and their message is a timeless one. :)

I was 10 1/2, and loved every second of it, though having not read the comics by that point, wondered why it was as "serious" as it was. It grew to be my favorite interpretation of the TMNT, save the "misguided street kids" = foot clan aspect.
To this day, that is the only thing I would have changed. It's definitely one of my favorite movies, all time.

I was probably four years old. I was born in 1991 so I watched it on VHS. I was different, because most people I talk to mentioned how they watched the cartoon, whereas I grew up watching the first movie, so anytime I talk about the characters, I normally picture the turtles from the first movie. I saw the cartoons eventually but vastly preferred movie one and still love it to this day.

I must have been ten or eleven. It was a bit of a land-mark moment in my life because I was old enough to have gone off the turtles a bit due to feeling too 'grown up' for it. (at that stage I wasn't aware of the Mirage world) The darker aspect of it really opened up another world of turtles and from then on I was hooked. I doubt I'd still be a fan were it not for that film.

I was seven years old. It was a Tuesday night. I was wearing my sacramento kings jacket... most epic night of my life.
My brother had let me read his Mirage Turtles comics as a kid and I watched the OT whenever I could. So the movie was like a sign from the gods that turtles were the holy grail lol.
Great movie from beginning to end. I remember the car ride home my older brother and I were arguing which of the brothers had the best weapons and if Splinter could win a one on one fight with Shredder. Good times.

I think I was about 12 or 13 when I went ot see the first film with two of my friends on opening night. I remember we were in sixth grade, and the movie really had an impact on me. I'd always been a bit of a bookworm and a quiet "wallflower" type that got picked on a LOT. But for some reason, after seeing it, I decided I wasn't going to take that anymore, and I even started to "come out of my shell" as it were. I started learning to stand up for myself more, and using my own brains and humor to fight back. It's funny, but even though I still got picked on, it wasn't so bad anymore, because I found my "inner ninja", as weird as that may sound. I guess it just really gave me something to look up to as an ideal- you know, honor, doing the right thing, and not letting bullies get away with crap. I still keep those ideas in mind when it comes to dealing with people who would try to walk all over others.
Funny thing is, until the movie came out, I'd never even HEARD of the TMNT! But I was hooked from the start, and even though my friends thought it was kinda dumb, I LOVED it. I discovered the cartoon not long after, and I've been a fan ever since! And someone mentioned still having their ticket stub, and I think I may still have mine somewhere, too!

I would've been seven or eight. I really can't remember if I went to the cinema or if it was on video, my memory is hazy, but I do remember being one of the first in my class to watch it. Its strange that's what I recall most about it, there was a bunch of my friends asking what it was like, what happens, and the question that stands out most is one of them asking the size of Donatello's bo. I was stumped, trying to describe the length (this is all starting to sound very double entendre :P) and he wouldn't believe that i'd seen in because I didn't know the exact dimensions... Weirdo.

The first was cool because it was so different from the Nick series in tone. The second seemed like a cheesy bad episode in the Nick series. 3 was hell. And TMNT was very interesting because it looked and seemed like an epilogue to Nick.
