Most of the time, we really enjoy what something has to offer. However, there comes on occassion (though not necessarily for all) in which you couldn't quite get what you were hoping for, such as making straight A's or getting hired for a job you really wanted to get, or a friend that overlooks yourself. Please explain your letdowns and shortcomings here, as it can be a good lesson for those who feel down and can be touched by these stories when you're feeling a bit down.

The red sky season.

When Archie TMNT was canceled.

The Next Mutation(I actually had high hopes for that series).

As a kid I wish the original cartoon went on forever, or at least up until the Pokemon era.

As an adult I can't say much, I liked parts of both Fast Forward and BTTS and Seasons 8-10 of the OT.

That is what Vaughn Michael is for!:twink:

I would say a toss up, the very idea of Venus and its culmation in what would have been a childhood dream team and it was not Might Morphin meeting the Ninja Turtles but an aweful mess that ended the TMNT's appearances of television for five years. That tied with the Image comics giving horriffic injures to the green team with such violence all around. Both were big letdowns to be as a preteen and as a young adult still are. Not thinking any better half a life later proves the level of bad both were.

I have to say some of the seasons of the OT. When I was young I watched the OT, but mostly the 1st season and the pilot episodes, When I started watching through the OT and its entirety I was dissapointed by at the tone the show had taken in a few seasons, I always imagined the show would share the same tone as the pilot eps.

Second biggest let down was FF and BTTS especially bc I thought BTTS would return to its roots from season 1-5

The thing I hated the most in the 2003 cartoon was when during the last two episodes of Season 5 the Ninja Tribunal and the human acolytes appeared from nowhere, alive and fine.
I was mostly enjoying Season 5, but when they came back to life with no real explanation I was pissed.

Also, they were useless. The acolytes help the Turtles to kill the Foot Mystics, which it would have been more satisfying if they had done by themselves. And the Ninja Tribunal do nothing, despite all their powers.

If they had died, I would have liked these characters a lot more.
I'm ok with not killing recurring characters, but these guys never appear again (if you don't count the cameos in "The Journal" and "Wedding Bells and Bytes"). Couldn't they have stayed dead?

I agree about Next Mutation, that was the first time I'd ever seen anything TMNT that I didn't like at all.

Movies II and III weren't great but weren't all that awful either, but they definitely disappointed me in how they were nothing like the first movie.

Biggest regret by far is selling off all my 70's and 80's toys and comics, when I had a brief "I'm an adult now" period in the mid 90's. Shoulda known I was going to grow out of that. :P

Really wanted more out of the 2007 movie but still appreciate it for what it was.
Lastly.. I'll add my name to the NECA mourners. Just imagine what they would have produced had the line continued.

- I agree on Mikey's nunchackus removal. Didn't know it was a problem with Europe. What happened exactly? Anyway, very dumb idea.

- I agree on the general tone of most episodes in the OT too. Silliness and childish humor took over a bit too much in comparison to the pilot and the early episodes.

- The fact that many of my favourite characters from the toy line didn't appear in the show at all.

- The fact that most toys after 1992 weren't imported in Italy.

I think the big problem with Smash Up, is that it was billed as a Turtles fighting game 25 years in the making, pulling from all the great characters from that 25 years of history...and we got the obvious (April O'Neil, Casey Jones, Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, Shredder, and Splinter) some nice additions (Foot Ninja, Fugitoid, Karai, Nightwatcher, Utrominator) and three freakin' Rabbids!

I saw something that really insensed me on the TMNT wikipedia site:

It was also implied that Mona Lisa would have returned some time after the 8th season but the story scrapped in favor of the Dregg and Carter story arc instead.

Again she should have been in another episode.

Hm where to start
- The third movie.

- Smash Up and it's stupid design direction and character rooster.

- Neca canceling their line because they weren't selling well in countries that didn't know the turtles wore all red in the comics. Then they proceed to release black and white variants instead of releasing colored headbands. They also released April instead of Shredder because she was cheaper to produce even though logic dictates Shredder would have sold better. Should also add Playmates **** blocked Neca on being able to sell their turtles figures at TRU because they knew the Neca figures were 1000X better then anything they've ever done.

- Playmates constantly announcing and specing figures they never release, such as their Volume 4 style turtles.

- Playmates seriously dropping the ball on toys based off the 2K3 series after TMNT came out.

- Playmates making zero toys based off Red Sky and defaulting to tons of lame variants of the turtles.

- Playmates screwing up their statues making Raph and Don super rare.

- Fans bitching about how the Sideshow statues didn't look enough like the turtles so we get a Shredder statue ripped directly from the comic and they still bitch because he's not purple or whatever resulting in him not selling so well meaning we probably won't be getting anymore Sideshow statues. Way to go.

- The fans bitching about how horrible Fast Forward was, even though it wasn't, and getting it canceled in favor of BTTS which was 100X worse then FF was even on it's worst episode. Only to later find out they had an amazing season 2 planned for FF.

- What happened with Laird and Volume 4. Yet again more whining getting something cancelled.

- Honestly the main IDW series hasn't done anything for me.

- The new series doesn't look like something I'd like either.

- How Archie just ended and we got **** teased with Forever War several times but it never happened.

You do realize that episode was a holdover ep from FF season 2, right? They just re-wrote it a little to take place in the present.

BTTS has 3 terrible filler episodes, (Serling ep, the Green Mantle ep, and Superquest), but I quite like the other 10 episodes.

The only awesome one. The whole season is mostly boring. It's majority the turtles just running around the Cyber world and then when they're done with that they contrive some BS reason for Shredder to materialize into the real world so they can fight him there instead. It all felt like rehashing and poor attempts to pander to fans who were all bent they went to the future. At least there they had a chance to do something new with the villains.

1). Turtles Night Out. Sure I like the idea of them having humans around, throwing a party tp help save the animals. But it also broke the streak of Raph's motorcycle ride.

This for me as well. The next mutation made me stay away from turtles until....last year. I was kind of dissapointed when I finally sat down and watched the 2k cartoon. I know its well liked on the forum but I don't share the love. The music was annoying, casey jones was just too much for me (the worst version of him), and the feeling I got from the series was "please like this kids, please buy the toys and remember this catchy theme." I need to watch the later seasons though. Yes, I know the ot did this as well...but the ot did it better. The 2007 movie was pretty bad too.

No conclusion to Volume 4 (though I can totally understand Peter Laird’s reasons)
No Forever War after so much build up
NECA dropping the ball really badly (though sadly not too surprising given their other lines)
Fast Forward Season 2 being cancelled, I actually really enjoyed the 1st season

But if I had to pick just one it would be The Next Mutation - so much potential, so mishandled.

Oh this one's easy.
1. Ninja Rap - The only truly unbearable thing from the original movies.
2. Next Mutation - Saying this show had potential blows my friggin' mind. There was literally nothing good about it. I take that back...the one good thing was it being cancelled quickly.
3. Volume 4 Being Abandoned - If you don't want to put the work in to actually write the final books, fall back into a consultant roll, have final say on all plotlines and let someone else do the heavy lifting. Fans stuck with you for years as you drew out every single plotline only for none of them to get resolved.
4. The sad state of the 2K3 series on DVD - I enjoyed BTTS, and all I want is for it to be on DVD. Is that really so hard? It sounds like a totally reasonable request.
5. The abrupt cancellation of the Dreamwave Series - I loved those books and when I heard it was no more is was really bummed.

1 80's turtles in "TURTLES FOREVER" i understand they were looking for comic relief, but these guys were ridiculous. it was painful to watch them get sissified.

2 Turtles in time -Re Shelled.---ugh.
since the original arcade game/ SNES turtles in time there hasnt been a solid open world action game that takes advantage of their stealth.

3 the Shredder 2k3 version origin.

I think my biggest disappointments have come at the hands of industry people trying to sell me on the turtles. I realize that it's naive to ignore the business side of things, but I really hate it when it's clear that these characters I've loved for years are nothing more than a "property" to the suits.

For those complaining about the lack of proper 4kids series DVDs, I'm sure we'll get the series re-released eventually.

We're getting the OT re-released in a Turtle Van boxset, we have the 4 movies on blu-ray, we're getting Next Mutation, and IDW is releasing collections of the Mirage and Archie comics.

4kids is literally the only thing NOT being re-released at the moment.

The film projects that never were, the cancellation of Next Mutation, NECA series 2 never being released, the lack of the Fred Wolf cast in Turtles forever, the end of Tales Of The TMNT, no Forever War.

Overall, Tales being cancelled or whatever would be the biggest loss for me.

My biggest disappointments are:

Mona Lisa never returning
Alpha One never returning
Mondo Gecko never having a bigger part
Zack, Bug Man, and Rex-1 never having figures of their own
The Mutations Party Wagon never being released
Irma's figure being in the wrong color scheme
A proper OT animated movie never being made during the OT's original run.
No cartoon crossover with the Toxic Crusaders.

*Red Sky Episodes (the adventures/plots were okay, but it pushed aside the TMNT's personalities/individuality and humor)

*Probably how abrupt the OT series finale was and there was no closure with the OT in the 2009 Turtles Forever movie either.
(But usually with any Hollywood show/series, when any show goes down the tube in ratings they don't particularly care for a proper sendoff/ending.)

*No animated OT series movie

You would think after saving that city so many numerous times that the OT TMNT would finally be celebrated as heroes by humanity. (I know its implied in "Once Upon A Time Machine" but still....)

My biggest disappointment: Going to a Toys R Us and seeing the new TMNT toys and realizing that I'm too old to be excited by Ninja Turtles anymore. :ohwell:

Also, I would also love to see a soundtrack for the old cartoon. Maybe someone can make remixes of it like they do for video games.

Speaking of music, the 2003 and 2012 versions of the Turtles theme are pretty lame. They should have stuck with the original if they could get it.

I'd have to say the 2K7 CGI film. I had really high hopes for that, after reading an article about how much of a fan director Kevin Munroe was of the comics and whatnot, it sounded like this movie was going to be a love-letter to all us die-hard fans of the property and was going to be one of the best on-screen depictions of the Turtles we'd ever have. When I first saw the movie, I liked it, but did have a feeling in the back of my mind that it wasn't quite what I was expecting. Upon further viewings, it's a pretty disappointing movie.

My biggest disappointments:

Fast Forward and Back to the Sewers. I don't hate them, but I was let down by both seasons.

The horrid Arabic dub (not the translation of the material, but the acting and casting). Seriously its like they had three VAs do all the voices.

Lack of proper DVD release for 2003 series. I get so confused whenever I try to hunt one of my missing volumes online. (hopefully I will not stay disappointed on this one!)

A lot of things about the 2003 show: they never sent Serling back to 2105, cancelling Nightmares Recycled, they didn't show the 3 Shredder war, most of all how Turtles Forever had the 80's turtles act.

I was also disappointed how Shredder and Krang were replaced with lord Dregg in the 80's show, I remember how badly I wanted to see Shredder and Krang when season 9 first aired. After a while, I learned to like Dregg as a villain, especially when he met Shredder and Krang in season 10.

Right now it's the fact that no one seems to know where the Ninja Turtle Toys are, the playmates guy I am e-mailing says they are shipping but it's been since Christmas since anything has been set out and he doesn't seem to think it's a problem.

Trying to find the Ooze canisters that apparently only TRU is going to have since they aren't on WM new modular even though they are selling all the ooze vehicles/figures, thinking of how huge of a failure the line will be if stores aside from Toys R Us don't actually sell the Ooze the gimmicks are based on.

I'm talking about with the kids not even because I want the baby turtles, I can see kids going oooh I want the ooze copter and figures then the parent going where's the ooze and the kids not wanting it since that's the hook of the new line.

The whole time the Playmates guy says WM,K-Mart, Target, and TRU will be having the full line any time now.

I am going to say kids are going to give up on the line if they never ship anymore merchandise to retail I think it will be bad for their bottom line personally, but seems to be the plan for them.

Which dub are you referring to?

I've seen two versions of the OT in Arabic (I'm fluent in Arabic). There is one that I think is excellent and gets the voices pretty accurately (Krang's voice, in particular) and there's another version that sounds awful and makes Krang sound like a 60 year old man with bronchitis. Is that the one you're referring to?

I'm wondering why the guy went searching for some dub of the series in a different language if he didn't speak the language unless he just stumbled on it.

Nothing wrong with it being Arabic or anything just don't stumble on random things like that in the U.S. ha, it's not like you can go to Wal-Mart and stumble upon a whole season of an American show translated into Spanish.

I wonder why he went looking for it.

Its the newer dub, the one done by Spacetoon/ Al Zahra so I think we're talking about the same one. I was psyched to know that Spacetoon dubbed it because they've done excellent work on other series, but was disappointed by the result, hence "My biggest disappointment being a fan"

The show could still improve toward the finale or the second season. I think its really the limitations of the CG that's preventing them from having too much going on at once, which is why the same backdrops are being used again and again.

The fact that Karai's story is all over the place between the comics and the 2003 show and the newest. (the newest being my fav. If only for the backstory and love interest) :ohwell:

Nick acquiring the TMNT franchise. Should have just been licensed.

I love the new show more than I thought I would but Nick is terrible now. Theyre quite literally an empty shell of their former self (no pun intended). Have been since the early 2000s. Once the 90s ended that was it. Its like 2 totally different networks.

Only good shows they have are TMNT and Power Rangers (which is just licensed right?). After the series ends who knows what happens. Nick usually sends old shows to Nicktoons now, where they basicly retire. Then they move onto whats "in".

Probably been talked about but I just dont understand why they needed to sell the franchise at all. If you wanted a break or didnt have any new ideas...fine put it aside til you feel like coming back to it. Im sure money wasn't an issue. Selling the franchise was so drastic.

- Playmates figures always having the most basic of articulation. I dream about a nicely articulated 2K3 Shredder in my collection...

- I love Turtles Forever, but I just feel that a whole lot more could have been done or added in to the final product

- I really wish they just say "Dead", "Died" or "Die" instead of trying to find ways to imply it but not say it. I understand TV network rules n all but it would really please me to see this happen.

My biggest disappointments are naturally the shows when the Turtles sing. Coming out of their Shells, Turtle Christmas and especially Turtle Tunes. Those are the bottom no underneath the barrel for me so far.

Next Mutation is bottom of the barrel. It's not Venus, it's the execution of the show. Same with the third movie. The next one I am very wary of.
