View Full Version : You think the OT was in the same world as Toxic Crusaders?

Also, what about the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes cartoon? They were all created by Fred Wolf and they had the same goofy humor. I can imagine Dr. Killemoff and OT Shredder teaming up OR a Dr. Dangreen and Shredder team up.

I think Playmates should have tried to add Muckman and Joe Eyeball to the Toxic Crusaders cast. It would have been the perfect crossovers and certainly could have made the TC cartoon franchise more popular.
Jester and I actually theorized about how cool that would have been in our "Muckman Messes Up" fan commentary.
I wouldn't be surprised if Muckman was originally created as a fig for Playmate's Toxic Crusader line.

have you ever seen the Toxic Crusader live action films that the cartoon was based on?
It is very, very hard R! Very gory and has a lot of sex (including Toxie having tons of sex with his blind GF, talk about weird!)
I am really shocked that they made a kid's show out of it.

Fixed that for you. But, all Troma films are gross and a waste of time IMO.

But yeah. Shocks me that they'd have a kids cartoon. Of course, so did Robocop and Rambo...
Anyway, I remember Toxic Crusaders giving me nightmares, and I didn't see those movies until ages later...

Heh, well Robocop got kiddie-ized into a cartoon so I guess anything is fair game!

Some of the dinosaurs from the episode "Turtles at the Earth's Core" could be from the same universe as Dino Babies, another Fred Wolf cartoon. As for Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, check out the episode "Unidentified Flying Leonardo" where some tomatoes attack the little town; not to mention there could be an episode where the tomato sauce from a pizza mutates into killer tomatoes. That's the thing about Fred Wolf cartoons; they are all known for fourth wall humor and slapstick action (even James Bond Jr!)
One thing I've noticed on the credits is that on some of the earliest CBS episodes of TMNT, the "Supervising Producer FRED WOLF" credit has the same font as those on the Toxic Crusaders credits. Susan Blu also was the dialogue director in addition. The first episode was written by Chuck Lorre even, who also composed TC's theme song! Also, the words "A" and "PRODUCTION" appear above and below the MWS logo.

It was Marvel who did Attack of the Killer Tomatoes while TC is from Fred Wolf Productions.
Oh i remembered TC when i was 10 years old and i had the merchandise and read the comics including Toxic Avenger comics, i did rented the unrated uncut version of the first movie on video at 11 and i was shocked and horrified that they would make an animated show out of a movie that wasn't for children but it did grossed me out especially seeing that little boy getting his skull crushed in details to the finale where he rips the fat man's bloated organs out, i nearly puked but later i loved it on as it's one of my fave superhero movies.
If they wanted a true-to-form cartoon of Toxic Avenger, they should have gotten John K to do it. I dislike Troma a few hairs less than the creator of Ren & Stimpy.

I adored the Toxic Crusaders cartoon when I first stumbled upon it at like 6am before school back in the day. Youtube the episodes, they are so much funnier than I realized as a kid. The humor is fantastic. A shame the series never got a full release, it would certainly be sitting next to my Turtles DVDs if it had.

The Toxic Crusaders show IS available in its entirety on DVD, albiet only as part of the Complete Toxic Avenger DVD set. Also, I think Troma put the episodes on Hulu and/or Youtube.
