Anyone think Fishface, Dogg Pound, and Metalhead will be released around the time the show comes out? Technically they come out in Fall which starts on Sept 22nd =:D

I'm worried about if we'll actually get another figure wave in this calendar year. I thought we'd start seeing some info about them by now. They would want them in stores well before Christmas, so maybe mid November, and if that were the case we should be seeing SOMETHING about it soon... and yet nothing.

Larger figures have always cost more since the first Giant Turtles. But these three figures should be in the same relative scale to the other figures. I don't know about any additional articulations since that would be something you would ask Playmates about.
For the next wave that comes out in the spring, expect Baxter Stockman, Karai, the Rat King, and a few more characters that will show up in Season 1.

I'm not sure how many more I'll be collecting but I will at least get these 3. And leatherhead, if he looks anything like the concept art he will be an instant buy
Articulation means less to me than a cool-looking figure. You have to remember the price point these are at, too
I just really hope they release a new collector line for the Nick series like they did the classic turtles. Those have been a HUGE hit so it is definitely possible.
Powder
09-30-2012, 12:28 AM
I will spring for classic characters because I'm a sucker, but if their poorly designed original characters are going to have equally crappy toys, there's no incentive. Look at Dogpound, they painted the strap across his chest the same color as his God damn fur. It's one thing not to paint the weapons, but in 2012 there is no excuse for such a gross lack of of a proper paint app. Jesus. Screw the price point, I have fast food kids meal toys who've gotten better apps than these guys. The lack of decent articulation just makes it worse. I don't mind losing some posing ability so long as the freakin' thing displays nicely, & that figure at the very least, won't. I mean hell, did they paint his eyes solid black, too?

Honestly, I'm really hoping they release show-accurate versions of the turtles. The one's out now are good, but I would much prefer some show-accurate one's. That SDCC Leo they did was a little better sculpt wise....at least when it came to the feet. I'm going to try and wait out till NYCC before buying any of the wave one figures, just in-case they do reveal show-accurate turtles. I did send them a message asking about the possibility, but I don't really expect to get any real answer....though it couldn't hurt to try.
While it's most likely not going to happen, I'd like to see them attempt a Traag in toy-form. Especially if they packaged him with a canister of orange ooze for him to "throw-up". I wouldn't mind him not being exactly as big in-comparison, just as long as he's obviously a giant.
I absolutely loved the Space Heroes bit in the first episode. Figures based on the show within a show are unlikely, but I think variants of the turtles dressed as if they were in it are. They'd pretty much be Nick's version of those Star Trek figures they made years ago. The four of them would be absolute must-haves for me.
Lastly, for now anyways, I would love to see a life-size plush Kraang. Seriously, I would buy at least three of them (probably not all at once though). It would be too hard to pass-up. I'd have one sitting on top of my TV, and the other two on my futon.

We need to lay the pressure down on Playmates to make more figures of the quality we saw in the Classics Deluxe figures
Yes, I'd love to see more classic characters, but what I'd also love is to see the 2012 series done with this same quality with all the posability! I think the new turtles style would translate over VERY well

I have to admit, Dogpound is a bit of a disappointment. If you're not going to bother painting it, than why bother molding in a belt/strap like that. Really other than that, he's not a bad looking figure, but that is a big issue. Fishface isn't too bad. Though the only one of these three that I know I'll be getting, is Metalhead. Even with his inevitable gimpy articulation. I just hope he has wrist swivels.
I was thinking about it, and honestly, a show-accurate Splinter would be nice. The one out there isn't all that bad, but the face paint is...odd. I understand they couldn't replicate all the details, but it's glaringly different....I still might get him...we'll see. If they announce/reveal a set of show-accurate Turtles, Splinter will be one of my first purchases from the first wave of figures.

I understand your frustration, but you have to remember that Playmates is marketing these to a younger demographic for the most part, and priced at 7-9 bucks...you pay for what you get. Unlike the Classics that are 15-17 bucks, you can clearly tell the difference, other than Dons derpy eyes, they look beautiful to me.

Checked local walmart, target, and TRU in central florida and no sightings of the new figure although it is early..
Hmmm... I think I like them all. Dogpound is definitely the weakest link, and Fishface might not be super great either if those knees aren't hinged. And Metalhead looks so good I don't even care about his apparent lack of articulation. That's why I keep razorblades at the ready...

Dogpound looks like a brick.
Fishface is going to be a real disappointment if he has no leg articulation. It appears that he's a form of one of the Kraang robots from the show, so my guess is that you can only put him in one pose like that Kraang figure. My hunch is that his tail is down to assist him in standing. No way he'll be able to balance otherwise.
Metalhead looks cool. I wish he had some chrome, but oh well. I think his face is fine since it fits in with the art style. Even the turtles themselves don't have a ton of depth to their head designs.
It's always easier to pass judgement when they in your hands, but I think these three new figures are going to be boring out of the package...which sucks.

Only a matter of days until they are on amazon! Then I shall own them, whahaha!
I almost stopped by toys r us and target on may home today... i kind of regret not doing so...
These pics are much nicer! Thanks for finding them. Some new thoughts:
Metalhead: now that i can actually make out detail, I really like his sculpt. i love the armoring around his hands. it looks like they altered the sculpt a lot from the prototype we saw months ago, his mouth no longer has that angle to it (or it could just be the lighting hiding it). i really want to see him out of the package so we can see his back (and his shell!)
Fishface: my 2nd favorite of the three, we can make out a lot more detail on his scales now. Looks good. Does not look like his knees bend but that is probably for stability because of the way he is balanced (very front heavy). All i care about is if he can stand better than Kraang cause kraang is simply pathetic. Paint is embarrassing on Fishface but, whatever. I still like.
Dogpound: slightly better paint apps (least above the waist), teeth look great. is there something in his package UNDER his feet or are his feet just REALLY huge and extending below where you can see?
Metalhead is going to fly off shelves! He was a very popular figure back in the day and this updated version looks fantastic. Better not ignore him of you see him. Could be hard to find in stores as these figures are starting to heat up.
I noticed on amazon today all the TMNT figures are way higher on the top selling list than last week.

I'm pretty sure that thing near his feet is his tail, and it has to be attached like splinter's. Am I the only one who thinks Dogpound looks alot worse than the one we saw at toyfair? the one we saw had better paint, pupils, and his claws and spikes were actually white. the thing that annoys me the most is that his claws and spikes are the same color as his body, and he has no pupils. Metalhead looks the best

I'm going to Toys "R" Us Friday to see if they Metalhead, Dogpound and Fishface. I'll keep everyone updated.
As much as I badly want these figures, I'm not going to spend $24.99-$29.99 on a figure that I can cheap. Pretty ridiculous price for a 6 inch figure if you ask me (don't get me started on Matty's Ghostbusters line). Worse case scenario I'll buy them on ebaY when they are officially released in stores (which I'm sure the prices would be less).

Just got back from TRU, Target, and Wally world....none of the new guys. Interesting note. There are tons of Mikey and Raph on the shelves, but only a few Don's and I was only able to find 1 Leo out of all those stores. Guess Leo is selling pretty well in St. Louis. Mikey has the best sculpt though, wonder why hes not selling well. The cartoon made him pretty funny and I would think kids would like him the most....

The descriptions "Shredder's Top Dog" and "Shredder's Underworld Underwater Thug" pretty much make Dogpound and Fishface the Bebop and Rocksteady of this series. The question though is the origin story, and perhaps if some of the thugs in the first episode could perhaps mutate into them.
I just don't dig Metalhead as much as the classic's rounded design, especially since his kneecap looks like a piece of Swiss cheese.

Sorry for the double post!
I'd love to see Hot Spot at some point in this series just so he can battle the obese, poorly articulated Dogpound. I find that his large size just makes him more recognizable as a villain. And I'd buy Metalface just to create a REX-1 custom.

At 8.99 they are some of the cheapest action figures on the market in their size category. Even smaller figures like the new Hobbit 4.75in scale line commonly retail for 9.99 each.
And these TMNT figures can be had for $7.77 USD in many parts of the country (at Wal-Mart).
Liking them is a matter of opinion, but their price is not. Not in 2012 when itty bitty transformers sell for $14.99.

I remember when that was the price point for a Voyager class figure. I can't believe that's a deluxe figure and to top it off that the deluxe figures have gotten smaller. Its like Cadbury Cream Eggs out there man.
I'm more than willing to pay 8.99 for the turtles, they have great articulation and actual accessories.

I remember very well as a kid buying turtle figures with my allowance at $3.49 a crack. It usually worked out well because each Target trip, my mom would agree to buy me one and then I would purchase a second one using my own money. :D
Using the CPI-U Annual Average, the cumulative rate of U.S. price inflation since 1990 is 81.4% which means a $3.49 figure in 1990 should cost $6.34 today in 2012. Obviously market and industry specific conditions factor into play. But at the current price of $8.99 (MSRP), we are paying ~40% more for our TMNT figures today than we were 22 years ago even after taking inflation into account. Just sain' :tgrin:
Buying at Walmart for $7.77, however, really narrows that gap!

I paid less for figures bigger then this when the last series came out. I know inflation and all but this is ridiculous. The new Batman figures and Spider-man ones are way over priced too. They're not even decent looking figures. The TMNT ones are better looking actually. I expect more from Marvel.
I just want a dang Snakeweed!

If I were a betting man I'd say we'll get snakeweed and rat king in 2013. Assuming the line is selling well enough to merit more figures, but I don't think that's a problem. They seem to be flying off shelves. These are no-brainer additions IMO.
What the bigger mystery to me is... what will be the next version of the turtles themselves? Playmates likes to do lots of variations on the main characters. They were worse about this in the 80s/90s though. I do not want to see them getting out of hand, but more versions would be nice if they fit into the show

Just went to my local Wal-mart... And... HOLY CRAP... I wish I had my phone with me... An entire end cap FILLED with tmnt figures... I'm talking from top to bottom, had to be at least a 300+ figures... Oh yeah, got 2x Metalhead, Dogpound and Fishface... There had to be at least 10+ more of each of them there... Pics below!

Below are some pics I took of the figures out of their packages... The only figure that really has accessories is Fishface...
Fishface comes with a large sword and a smaller knife... As for articulation... His arms are on ball joints, his wrists move, you can move is face/head side to side very slightly, and his legs move from front to back... Not much articulation, but a pretty sweet sculpt!
Dogpound has no accessories, comes with his tail and back fur unattached, kinda like Splinters tail, some assembly required... Arms and legs are on ball joints, hands swivel at the wrists, thats about it! He definitely has more bulk than any of the other figures but is lacking a lot of paint apps that we were shown @ ToyFair!
Metalhead has the most articulation, ball joint head, legs and knees, arms just swivel back and forth, same with the wrists. His only "accessory" would be the flame bolt that goes into his right arm. I noticed that both Dogpound and Metalhead have hollowed out feet, cost cutting measure I am sure!
All in all I like all the new figures! I am really liking seeing that these are all going to be in the new show and bare some resemblance. I think Metalhead could have been better, by giving him the antenna and maybe a switch out flamethrower attachment arm, instead of the hole in the arm dealio... Dogpound is my least favorite of the 3, he really needs better paint apps and better articulation... Oh well! Pics are below.

Okay so here I'm with a report:
Brooklyn and New York Toys "R" Us's don't have Metalhead, Dogpound and Fishface yet. I asked when will they be getting them in and the obvious answer was "I have no idea."
Over here, surprisingly the Power Sound Turtle Figures or SFX Turtles as I call them are selling like hotcakes. Oddly enough not a lot of people are buying the 6 inch basic figures or the 11 inch Battle Shell Turtles. On Toys "R" Us their having a sale on their official web site:
They listed the 11 Battle Shell Turtles as Exclusives:
All Battle Shell Turtles are $24.99
The Basic action figures are $8.99
Power Sound Action Figures are $12.99
http://www.toysrus.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=11325150&pg=2
Being that last week when I went the sale was over (their basic action figures went from $8.99 to $10.49) I assume they are carrying the sale to their online store.
I also want to add that the Toys "R" Us's I went to only had three-four April figures. I was lucky enough to when the line was first released to snag one for MOC (I had went to a comic book shop and bought one for $14.99 which I ended up opening before I decided to keep the basic line MOC) but the rest were all damaged. Bent, torn blister cards and what some looked like a customer was trying to brake the bubble part that held the figure.
Also, Brooklyn and New York Toys "R" Us's now have the Classic Collection which goes for $19.98 each and they are in the same section as the new 2012 Turtle merchandise. All the Donatello's still looks cross eyed.
I am going to go back to Toys "R" Us on Friday and check one more time. Again, I'll let people know if they have them and what the update is on the figures. I have hunch either the end of this week, next week or definitely the following week they should be out.
And one last thing, for those who haven't gotten season ten yet, Toys "R" Us has it for I think $12.99 or $9.99 Slipcover and all. I didn't examine the price very long since I am getting it for my birthday and I was more focused on the figures. Sorry guys.
My two cents on the figures:
I guess Ciro went with the C-3PO approach when they decided to deign the "new" look for both the show and the figure and yes I agree he does have a flat head.
Dogpound and Fishface: meh. I think Fishface looks better then Dogpound, but that's just me.
Btw while on the subject of Dogpound and Fishface, does anyone know who will be voicing them ? I haven't heard any news. For some reason I thought it was Clancy Brown voicing Dogpound since he is confirmed to be on the show.

Went hunting tonight in Kansas City. I went to 3 Target's, 2 Wal-Mart's, & TRU. Didn't see any of the new ones. I did see over 10 April's so it seems she isn't selling very well so far considering she is only 1 per case. All of the stores were stocked to the brim with basic figures, so I fear it will be a while before they re-stock with the new ones.

If you are checking wal-mart, look all around the toy aisles and endcaps... When I first went down the action figure aisle they had maybe 8 pegs of figures, that is where I found Metalhead and Dogpound, all the pegs were full so I knew they had just restocked, I knew a fishface had to be somewhere... So I looked around for a bit, I went to the end of the aisle and was going to move to the next aisle over and that is when I saw the endcap just LOADED with figures...

Yeah, it is pretty bad, especially when you look at what we could have gotten from what they showed @ Toy Fair... Oh well, these are made for kids, and most kids could care less... Heck I remember getting the 88 shredder for Christmas and I didn't care what color's he was or how he was posed... All I knew was that he was the Shredder and that is all that mattered!

well, i'm bummed.
Oakland, CA: checked Toys R Us and Target. both had 2 sections of TMNT: 1 endcap and one in the isle. Neither had any of the 3 new figures.
Target was nearly wiped clean, only a few of each figure. Mostly donatellos, but a few of everything. As usual, Leo was the rarest to find.
TRU had pretty good stock of everything, including the sewer lair and 11" storage shells
Good luck guys, please keep reporting those sightings! That goes double if you find them anywhere OTHER than wal-mart!
bay area isn't known for Wal-Mart so I'm pretty screwed here until they start spreading.
I'll probably end up waiting till i can get them on toysrus.com or amazon.com this time.

I work at a Wal-Mart in Illinois(south central) haven't seen any of the new ones. have an extra box in the back but it is just the first wave. The toys haven't sold very well except for my purchase of one of each. What's really sad is we only have gotten two cases in and we have at least 7 Leos on the peg. I am sure someone bought some at another store to sell on e-bay then returned them to my store. so i am sure i won't have a new box for a while. unless they bring down an end-cap of TMNT figs for the holidays like some other Wal-Marts are getting. Though i have a feeling my store wont get it since it is in a smaller town. will have to check the next nearest Wal-Mart that is bigger to see if they have any end-cap.

Awesome pics. Gotta agree with Donatello19 though, Dogpound is way shorter than I was expecting.
And I have to echo everyone else - what the heck happened to Dogpound's paint? Did they just forget to paint his back, tail and feet? The belt I can kinda understand as the CGI model on the back of the box looks like he doesn't have one so as it was too late to change the sculpt they've just painted over it (wrong choice but I can at least see some "logic" to the decision), but the rest is just unforgiveable. I know the final product is never as well painted as the prototype, but not putting any paint on his back is just stupid!!

Anyone think this might be a large scale error? I mean, maybe the belt could be an understandable moneysaver (in the eyes of a business) but the unpainted back part and tail just scream unfinished.

Anyone have 360 pics of Dogpound?
If you look at it, the other figures have limited paint apps too, it's just that they don't have sculpted details that look unfinished without paint. I mean How many different colors are on the main cast figures, in all truth?

I have to agree, I'm trying not to harp on them like I used to but some of these new figures are really bad and they just shouldn't be like Shredder for example.
This Dogpound figures paint job really takes the cake though.

I would love for someone to send me some nice clear pictures of Dogpound, Fishface, and Metalhead in their packaging (1 toy per picture), front and back pictures to be used on my site. Also it would be even more amazing if you could tell me what the back of the packaging says for the character descriptions. Thanks in advance!

No luck today..checked the TRU, walmart, and Target by my place. Looked for endcaps with figures in Walmart as suggested and nada =/. Asked and the clueless employee told me they had nothing left. At TRU and Target they checked the back but no sign of the new figures here.. I bit the bullet and bought the 3 at a premium on ebay... my patience wore thin =/. Will look every now and then just to get doubles...
On a good note, walmart and Target are having sales with the TMNT stuff.. a buck or two off here and there. Tempted to buy the shell raiser.. but cant stand the interior..not quite the old turtle van..

Honestly, I don't think they are selling all that well here... I have had no problem getting all the figures I have wanted... The only figures I have not seen since they came out are the Classic Turtles, I got all of mine from the internet, so I am not too worried about it.
The 2 targets I frequent usually have a good stock, the one I went to last night actually looked like it was finally getting picked over, thanks to the cartoon premier I am hoping... Not sure what the other Target looks like... I would think Wal-Mart would be getting hammered since they have the BEST pricing for the basic figures, you just can't beat 7.77...
And this is the only thing that they are good at keeping in stock, Marvel Universe doesn't even exist at this store, they also still have thor and capt america movie figures still out and a handful of Avengers junk...

Cool story... Went back to Wal-Mart... again, 2nd time today, to pick up some more of the new figs for a couple friends who live out of town... I was in the Toy aisle and some guy walked down and was looking around, you could tell he knew what he was looking for, he stopped in front of the TMNT toys and start looking through the Pegs, he looked over at me and saw that I had a Metalhead in my hands, he was like "Aww man, you get the last Metalhead?" I actually had 2 of them in my hands, so I was like, I have 2, go ahead and take 1. His eyes widened and was like "Really? I don't want to take your Metalhead!" I just told him no big deal and that there was another one around the corner. I then took him over to the end cap and showed him the other new figures, he was so happy! Told me that I just made his day! Well anyways, made me feel pretty good to be able to help someone out like that! Should have asked him if he frequents the technodrome forums... Oh well!

Nothing new TMNT wise at two Targets, two Wal-Marts, and my local TRU...
Minnesota always feels like one of those states that new things skip over before everyone else.
I did find the new Masterpiece Optimus Prime at TRU though, so the trip wasn't a total bust. It is by far THE Optimus Prime to end all.

Thanks for all the info. Will make a second round on Friday as well.
No problem :)
Being that there are no Walmarts in New York, it's going to be very difficult for people like me to get Metalhead, Dogpound and Fishface. I went on there official website and they didn't have them (I guess you have to buy them in the store).
I went to my local Toys "R" Us and they still don't have Metalhead, Dogpound and Fishface. I'm going to make it a point to go there every Friday to see if they have them. I'm not going to bother the employees. If I see them I see them. Call me obsessed and grant it Dogpound may look like ****, but I want these figures and I refuse to spend more then $10 for a six inch figure. I'm sorry.

That would be beyond amazing, but that is a long shot. I'd be up for the occasional figure being bigger in the line for accuracy sake. Though I'm not sure we will with Playmates lack of committing to anything at the moment. If they make the sound FX of these two I'd get those instead just so their is a size difference.

Yeah :( The chances of these figures (so far we seen the picture of the Snakeweed figured, not sure about Spider Bites) being 11 inches is very unlikely. I would love if they were talking figures. I figures since Dogpound, Fishface, The Rat King and Leatherhead are in scale with The Turtles, they should release big mutant figures. Mega Mutants would be a cool name for the line.
