Does anyone know if the episodes will be available individually for purchase through iTunes in HD? In seasons? I hope so!

Legend of Korra and Spongebob appear to be on iTunes; I 'd be surprised if TMNT wasn't.
Also, I bet Netflix streaming will have them once the season is finished.

Are they available right when the episode actually airs on TV? How long does it take?

For $29.99 (HD) $24.99 (SD) you basically get a season 1 pass that will allow you to get all of the episodes from season one right as they are released.

well since I do not have cable I decided to buy the HD season pass!!! this is awesome :D
That is only $1.15 per 1080P episode!!! do it guys :D (26 episodes + freebies like trailers and behind the scenes stuff)
*edit* okay, i bought it and the quality is REALLY good for the 'free' episodes currently available. This is the first time i've bought a season pass on iTunes, hope I don't end up regretting it!
I hope this will include EVERY season 1 episode. It says it is "volume 1" and doesn't directly specify how many episodes it will contain. If they split season 1 into multiple volumes i will not be happy :(

Generally that kind of crap isn't pulled with iTunes releases; you generally release the entire season under one title. It's probably just a typo.
If I had a Blu-Ray burner I'd consider buying the eps and burning them to Blu (since there probably isn't much chance of an official release). Maybe I'll shell out a hundred bucks or so and buy one sometime soon.

I've never bought any videos from iTunes, so my question is for those that have, can you burn these to DVD? Also can you play them on other media players besides iTunes? Any DRM on them?

There's a way to remove DRM. In my eyes it's perfectly legal to remove the DRM for the purpose of burning them to DVD for your personal use. DRM is only there so you can't upload it to file hosting sites for other people to download.

There are ways to burn them... it involves removing the DRM though, but most people agree that you are within your rights to do so even if it is not a supported avenue. Just don't share the files.
also, you do know that itunes purchases are 'in the cloud' right, so you can stream them and redownload them anytime, backing them up is not really needed unless you have concerns about bandwidth caps or transfer times being a problem

I have the season pass for Amazon Instant Video. You get a discount on each episode and you're automatically billed per episode as it's released rather than pying one lump sum.
I'm considering double-dipping on the iTunes season, though, as Amazon Instant Video isn't available on iPhone and I'd like to have them on there so I can watch episodes when taking a break from training or during my lunch break or something.

Is there any way of knowing for sure if this will be the whole season in volume 1? If it can be confirmed, I'm totally getting the season pass without delay!

I bought the season pass and got a confirmation email. At the bottom of the email it reads:
Note: Reruns, episodes that have previously been aired and made available for download, will not be resent
That makes me feel like they mean from older seasons of the Turtles, not the new turtles. What do you think?

That means that if episode 1 airs again, it won't be downloaded to your iTunes again and you won't be charged.

I have looked into the itunes media folder and the episodes are in a folder labeled "season 1" so im guessing what they mean by volume 1 is season 1.. also in the list of videos in the store the bonus content numbers start at 101. so im thinking there will be bonus content for all the season's episodes. plus why would the season pass be so much if it was only going to be 13 episodes?

Bad news, guys. Looks like they're making us pony up another $25 -$30 for the rest of the season after all.
I am not happy about it. I like to get them in HD myself, so I'm out sixty bucks for a single season? For a digital download that I can't even burn to disc? Yikes. That's more expensive than DVDs are. Like many, I thought I was purchasing the entire season the first time. Other than the little "vol. 1" tacked on, there was nothing the really indicate that that wasn't the case. And how many "volumes" can a season be? A "season pass" doesn't tell you how many episodes you're purchasing at all. One would assume you were getting... I dunno... the whole season?
And they wonder why people turn to piracy. :trolleye:

Not happy about this... I bought season 1 but i don't think the first 12 episodes should be worth $60... when they can be gotten for free Soooooo easily both on tv and by alternative means.
I've bought how much TMNT merch in the last year? Many hundreds of dollars. And they still want to squeeze you for the show... thanks, Nick and Apple

Anyway I own "Season 1" (aka eps 1 - 12) on itunes, BUT, supposedly there are 26 episodes, right? So that means the second part has 14 episodes... in theory. So it's not that most terrible thing that's ever happened to me... it's just, like, the third most terrible :o

No matter how you slice it, $60 bucks for 26 episodes with no supplemental materials and drm that makes it nearly impossible to transfer the media itself freely is a rip. and i dont count the little clips and music videos they apparently include as worthy extras.

What a cheap way to make money. 26 episodes of a sub-par TV series is not worth $60.

It's Not Sub-par! Maybe to you, but not for 90% of people in this forum. But for the 100%, yes this method of gaining more money is BS!

Since there are free behind the scenes featurettes plus the fact that ever since the days of tape recording on video, there's really no point in shelling out any money for this. I rather have the physical copy since its a much more valid proof of ownership (will there be a collector's market for digital copy antiques in the year 2063? I don't think so!)
The Stryker
01-27-2013, 01:36 PM
Oh no! No antique stores for digital media?
Wait...who cares. The point of digital media is to eliminate that useless clutter yo. The pricing practices of some companies have nothing to do with that.
I'll take it over garbage dvds with 3 or 4 episodes on it going for 20 bucks each.
Brockon21
01-27-2013, 03:34 PM
Well, I'm very disappointed, but I'd very much like to have the digital content stored on the cloud for download whenever I want. When I'm done watching, I can get rid of it, then download it the next time I want to see it. Saves on hardrive space on my tablet. Unfortunately, $60 is tough to pay...even when I love the new series! I do not have time to see the episode when it is on Nick. So...I'm weighing my options right now. I wish they'd be upfront with buyers for digital content's number of episodes in a volume.

The only part of this equation that i'm bothered about is we can be pretty certain they will all come on dvd, but what about those of us that want blu-ray for the superior quality?
From what I have seen Nick has not released any of their cartoons on blu-ray. I sure can't find any on amazon. You'll be hard pressed to find ANY cartoons that are not feature films on blu-ray... kinda saddens me. I understand the effort it would take to restore older stuff to 1080p, but TMNT should be an easy transfer. Yet I doubt we will get it.
So if you do want HD copies you have to go through itunes, amazon or some similar digital storefront... or piracy. Or keep them on your DVR but that is not a long term solution.

Cool. owning them digitally has great advantages, i've enjoyed having it too. i'm going to just pay the money and get the second half... i realize some won't and I don't blame them.
Usually once or twice a year (usually around the holidays) you can get $100 itunes gift cards for $80 at Best Buy or somewhere... the past couple years I've found that deal and taken advantage. As much as I complain it could be worse :)

And why would they loose money on a blu ray release? They are putting out some dvd soon wit like 5-6 episodes on it, i dont see why they would not put the episodes out on blu ray.. Not every country can buy the episodes from itunes.

Blu-rays cost more money to produce. Much less an entire season blu-ray set. They probably won't even do a dvd set unless the show has a crazy burst in popularity.
It's essentially high risk and very very very low reward.
