View Full Version : How IDW should introduce _____________

I was talking with Hob and an idea germinated in my head: How would you members of the Technodrome introduce such and such a character to the IDW universe. Something like:
What if Simultaneous and the Time Lords were like the Green Lantern Corp of the IDW turtle-verse? Almost like Time Cops meant to "put things right, that once went wrong" and includes charaters like Cudley the Cowlick?

I have the sneaking suspicion Hun might be Angel's father, for some reason.

I'd really like to see Mondo Gecko be introduced in the series, kind of give Mikey his own friend to hang out with/get in trouble with. Have him be another experiment that is in one of the tubes at Stockgen that was seen in April's issue.

Mondo Gecko is obviously coming, I feel like they sort of hinted at him already. Didn't the new artist draw a Mondo Gecko sketch for fun?

What makes you think that Cubed? I've reread the issues a couple times and never felt that he was hinted at. It would be interesting to get an others take on what they thought was a nod or hint.

i don't recall any nods either. unless they're planning to make mike's pizza friend (i already forgot his name) into mondo gecko. but i don't recall any hints of mondo gecko. and i don't think a sketch in his DA account counts as one.
EDIT: his name's Woody. i had to look it up.

Both could work.

I could see this, then you build onto it with Savanti Romero being a disgraced Time Cop a la Sinestro.

i actually had a similar "Time Cop" type idea for Simultaneous and Renet, Jester, i like that a lot. they weren't quite cops in my idea, more like explorers but who'd also right timeline problems if need be, and they'd be tech-based rather than magic, using time-traveling dimensional devices like a time machine backpack or vehicles like Doc's Delorean, stuff out of Transdimensional TMNT if anyone's familiar with the TMNT tabletop RPG. i love Simultaneous and Renet so it would be awesome to see them introduced, and it seems a perfect fit with the direct ties to feudal Japan IDW TMNT has.
and FoxZerro's idea about a disgraced Romero rocks!

as of this point, we don't know how old General Krang is
so perhaps in the past, Krang experimented with a soldier that had died on the battlefield with his "pre-baxter" super soldier testing and it was one of many failures though it did bring the soldier back to life... and for the soldier to continue living he would need to create a new body to live in (or take another's hostage which he does for some time). And because of this, he swears revenge on all alien life forms
this soldier of course being Bishop

General Blanque is the dictator of the neutrinos who is at war with Krang.
The Triceratons are under Krang by force. Krang blew up their planet and let most live but have to pay patronage to him and be his troops whenever KRang needs additinal forces in similar fashion to how the Ancient Roman Empire worked. Zandramon would be Krang's direct subordinate who reports to the alien brain. Traximus would be the one leading the charge against Krang and perhaps have Dask,Zak, and Kala working with him in the rebel alliance.
Leatherhead,Bebop, and Rocksteady be the three empty cages. The warthog and rhinoceros caught by a group of foot ninja and brought to Shredder with Bebop and Rocksteady ready and willing to test the mutagen on humans while Leatherhead gets splashed by accident in the lab.
Armaggon and Savanti Romero are bitter rivals both trying to remake time in thier own image. Savanti started off as a good guy with an ego problem and much like what was said about him being a time cop that was disgraced by Armaggon.Armaggon kills Juliet,Savanti's wife in the process and Savanti trying to alter history to revive his wife accidently creates the multiverse when he foolishly toys with the time septer and turnstone reality warping devices.
Almost forgot....Agent Bishop monitors Krang's activities and wants to extract the turtles blood to create super soldiers to eliminate Krang's rock soldiers and protect the earth from alien invasion. He could act as a wild card in plots involving mutants and aliens especailly the latter.
Those are my ideas to work a number of characters into the mix though you all could tell me if its a plausible outcome. I think it all could work.

I wanna see Renet's story stay the same, but change her personality to make her more of an intelligent and witty type like Chloe Sullivan from Smallville.

The closest to any hint was Heather Breckel suggesting in the Mighty Mutanimals In IDW thread stating the only one that would probably show up at some point is Mondo Gecko. What concerned me with that post since she has inside knowledge was she might be suggesting no Leatherhead, who I thought was a guarantee, you betcha.
Though I believe Cyber is referring to Mondo Gecko being among the new artsist portfolio. The portfolio was just sample drawing of TMNT related characters from some time ago so I doubt it would hint at characters being introduced. Among the other drawings was a robotic foot solider for example. It was just a suggestion of the style we could see from the portfolio glimpse.

As an artist I'm sure she has some knowledge about things, but I'm not 100% sure they have knowledge of what will be happening in the future. I mean if at some point Wingnut and Screwloose fit into what they want to do I'm sure they would be brought in. Just right now it sounds like there aren't plans for a lot of them.

he could be the reincarnated Red Baron ;-)
I really want to see Bloodsucker. I know that might not be able to happen considering the right issues. But I think seeing a stor along the lines of The River again would be great.

This wouldn't mean no Leatherhead...he was a Mirage character before he was a Mutanimal. You just wouldn't see the Bayou Bustin' Leatherhead.

Look at the creature on the front of the April mini-series cover...it doesn't really have teeth of a snapping turtle, nor does it seem to have Slash's build...

I was going by the fact Leatherhead was a mutantimal not based on other versions of him from her statement.Maybe I just read too much into it? Though I want to see the '87 cartoon Leatherhead since his dialogue is such fun I really just want to see him evil instead of good or neutral!
We were thinking the shadow figure was Rat King no mutant at all let alone S$ash yet the figure turned out to have a completly different shape. I. Can't complain since both Slash and Rat King are favorites of mine. :tgrin:
Has it ever been established the type of turtle that Slash is?Tokka is a snapping turtle not Slash.

Winters and Carl I would like to read how you would intrepret the respective characters you mentioned in IDW.What would seem like a natural approach to introducing Ace Duck and Bloodsucker.Being confined to the black and white comics I have no knowledge of Bloodsucker other than the character's name so I wouldn't mind seeing who this character is. Ace Duck, isn't one of my top faves but I have an idea of what I would do with him and see potential with him.So how would they work gentleman?Look forward to reading your takes! :tcool: Btw,I see you shaved your whiskers ,Carl.

If they bring in Renet, they could do a story where they go visit their past lives. That would be weird.

interesting... that would definitely be something cool. the legends of the Kappa from the third live-action movie was one of my favorite aspects of the movie. and it would be fun to see that stupid look on Norinaga's face in comic form.

definitely the wrong thread to say this... but i loved the way he came out of the cracked bell in the movie.

Though Baxter has obviously been introduced, if they go the "Baxterfly" route, the transformation should be a cross between the Green Goblin in the first Spider-Man movie and Martin Brundle in "The Fly".
Krang issues Stockman an ultimatum: Have the super-soldier mutagen ready in a short amount of time or die. To make matters worse, Krang imprisons him on Burnow Island to make sure he can't flee and leaves him with only a bare minimum in terms of resources. Baxter thinks he cracks the formula and desperately tests the final product on himself, planning to use the super-soldier enhancements to take revenge against Krang. In his haste, he fails to take necessary measures to prevent contamination, and the mutagen he exposes himself to is contaminated with fly DNA. At first, he only feels the enhancement effects of the mutagen, but slowly finds himself falling apart, mentally and physically. This culminates in a final transformation into Baxterfly, bent on revenge against Krang for his transformation, the Foot for stealing the original mutagen and psychotropic rat serum, and the turtles for being a thorn in his side through his ordeal with Krang.

I'm still a little bit in love with the idea that an IDW Renet could be the very same Renet from the Mirage universe. She did mention that she crosses dimensions as well. By the same token, if IDW ever introduces Cudley it really ought to be the very same Cudley who appeared in the Archie material (and had an appearance twice in Tales V2).

not to shoot your idea down... but while i like the idea... it sounds too cliche. if i recall right... there was a batman story just like that. i believe Man-bat? they turned down his research and uses it on himself due to lack of resources. he suddenly got his hearing back (he was deaf), days later started freaking out... losing his consciousness... slowly getting bat features... driving himself mad.. and then became a full man-bat and adopting bat mannerisms. i'm sure there are more stories that were written in a similar manner.

I like those ideas too, same goes for the Battle Nexus. They work better as one multidimensional place/person instead of each universe having their own.

I'm seconding (thirding? fourthing?) discussion of a universal constant like Renet, the Battle Nexus or ... ughh ... Cudley popping up.
That would be a huge shock and could lead to some really interesting meta-fictional directions. I'm kind of in love with the idea of all, or most, Turtles universes being inseparable like that.
Don't expect it to happen though, because it's also a way to wreak havoc on the kind of stand-alone, reader-friendly serial IDW is trying to tell.

Here's another crazy idea from my somewhat sleep-deprived mind: The Foot ninja that Splinter bit in TMNT #2 should become the Rat King. Given that the effect of the serum was described as "separating a human-like cognition from the instintual animal state," it's possible that Splinter's bite could have transferred some of the serum into the Foot ninja and combined his instinctual state with that of a rat. This could allow him to psychologically manipulate rats into serving his purposes.

I don't believe it is. It's been established that Saki had the scar on his left eye before Hamato Yoshi and his sons were murdered. The way I've been reading it, the Oroku Saki from feudal Japan and the one currently shown are the exact same person in the exact same body.
