What is with Playmates and making Shredder a midget? They really out did themselves this time. I'm pretty sure the basic Shredder figure is actually shorter then the turtles themselves. I didn't bust him out of the box to check but he looks short and fat. Even if he is the same height what's with that? The turtles are supposed to be smaller then normal humans.
They took a character who is supposed to be a big intimidating bad ass and turned him into a disproportional dwarf. At least 2K3 Shredder stood up straight and was taller then Splinter.
And yeah I caved and bought all the new basic figures, except April she's horrid looking. I work at Target now and I walk by them all the time so they sort of grew on me. Not as good as the 2K3 launch figures but better then the TMNT movie line.

The 2012 Shredder is a lot taller then the turtles, when I comparison them, Don who is the tallest of the turtles figures reach up to his chest. I think why Shredder looks small is his head, it looks a bit small, which is probably due to the exaggerated legs he have.
Splinter on the other hand is shorter then what his show counter part is showing. I do think Splinter should be around Shredders height, and Shredder himself could have been slightly taller. But that's nitpickery.

I didn't bust him out so maybe he sits lower or something then cause in the package he doesn't look like he's bigger then the turtles at all. I agree it might be his head. I also find it weird they didn't bother detailing his missing eye when that seems to be a big highlight of this version of the character.
Speaking of Splinter he's pretty good looking, even if he has the badger thing going on.

Splinter's sculpt is pretty snazzy, sadly he is lacking articulation. I really wished they made his Kimono in cloth and given him same articulation points as the turtles, but I think the Kimono wouldn't look as good as it does now. And the theres too much white paint on him, its like the white is his beard and Splinter just let himself go.

Um, Shredder is the tallest figure from the new Nickelodeon line so far...

Yes, Shredder is the tallest at 5.25", while the tallest Turtle (Donatello) is 4.75". There's plenty of comparison pictures on here if you didn't want to take him out of the package.

Kraang actually would be the tallest if his knees weren't bent, same thing with Splinter

Happend to me too. He does sit shorter in the package. I was pizzed-off about it at first, but he is a good bit taller than the turtz.

He's no midget but his leg articulation is pretty damn bad.

Shredder is Japanese... in case you never noticed, they are not very tall people. IMO Nick Shredder is a bit too tall (and too broad), but I can overlook it.
IMO he should have more of a Bruce Lee build

Seems like a good place to post this, but does anyone else wish Playmates would make a Shredder from the teaser clip that looks like a stylized Mirage version?

That Wasn't Shredder, it might have been one of his elite

Sadly if you want a truly imposing (and more cartoon accurate) Shredder you will need to buy the Sound Fx version. Here is a comparison (not my photo);

Wonder if there is a way to do a head swap and put the sound FX head on the basic body. I think it would look great.

I don't think its possible since the wiring covers the entire body (pull arm or leg says something right there).
I agree that the SFX Shredder is the figure to have, and not just simply for the larger size, but also for the cape.
